Thanks for your answer but i don't get it. i don't have non-imm "0", but ED visa. Maybe i don't get the difference between extension and visa. I've 1 year ED visa with multiple entry which i have to report every 90 days, emitted by a non-formal school. Now i am abroad for 2 months and when i back i should get the 6 months left, but considering these new rules i am not sure what will happen at the airport immigration. (PS: i speak thai but don't have paperwork)

Sorry, I stand corrected, "ED" visa. Nothing has changed for that. You should be allowed 90 days in country, not 6 months. To be on the safe side, you should carry a letter from the school, school card, etc.

thank you. maybe i was unclear too. i meant 6 monhts with previous report at immigration after 90 days, so i can stay 90+90. my visa 1 year non-imm with 1 year ED visa which i have to report every 90 days. i'am worried they tell me this ED expetision is not valid anymore and i get 30 days

  2. Thanks for your answer but i don't get it. i don't have non-imm "0", but 1non imm with 1 year ED extension. Maybe i don't get the difference between extension and visa. are these new rules retroactive?

Next month i back to Thailand with 6 moths left ED visa from a non-formal school. will they give me my 6 monhts left or 30 days?

    thank you

The new rules about extensions of stay. Rules for visa have not changed.

If you have a non-imm "O" visa, you will be allowed to stay for 90 days at time, same as before.

If you have an one year extension of stay and re-entry permit, that will be the last one, you will have to leave country for a new visa when it expires. In this case you can be questioned on why you have been been away so long, you may have to show school paperwork, etc.

  3. OP writes about the Russians:

"how well turned-out and polite they are in general"

    you must be joking?!

They are impolite, uncouth, treating other nationalities as invisible and inferior.

Most of the russians are cheaply attired and ask the Thai's what they think about them and most will say they dislike them for their unpleasant manners, impoliteness and meanness.

    -------------------------------

Right on the spot.... keep out of their way. Russians have never been any good news to anyone in this world.

New money in Russia, all kind of lowlife comes to life and begin to travel. watch out!!

    Glegolo

Totally agree Glegolo. I'm sure they will get involved with the local mafia in Pattaya. They already are. watch out!!!

  4. What about the privacy in Thailand ??? !!! ph34r.gif

Someone could explain how does it works?

The film maker would be in trouble if the clip was filmed in Europe or USA, i guess

But i'm just a painter, not a layer

And i would be in trouble if my wife saw me walking hand by hand with a girls on my holidays in Thailand

However as an artist the clip looks funny but far to be great and well done

I've never posted a video because i was concerned about the privacy, but if it is legal to post a clip like that i will provide to shoot a good one!

I'm glad you qualified your opinion on this matter. It still amazes me what the masses of Americans think their laws say. As for a video taken in public, no privacy attaches, and it is not illegal to post it.

Civil liability for appropriation of likeness might attach if you use someone's image for profit or to advertise a service, product or public candidate for office. I don't think anyone's profiting from using the image of a public figure here.

If the image places someone in a false light there might be civil liability. I don't see how anyone is placed in a false light by these images. They ventured out into Walking Street dressed like this.

Finally, some states recognize a tort for publicity given to private life. Such claims require proof that the disclosed conduct was highly offensive and not newsworthy (not a legitimate concern of the public). This tort is usually reserved for cases of misreported allegations of infidelity, sexuality and perverse conduct of public figures.

Pictures and videos of scantily clad women and ladyboys walking in public are perfectly legal to publish on the internet in the U.S. without any criminal or civil liability.

Thank you for your elucidation. it's clear!!!!

So wear hat and sunglasses in walking street and hope my wife doesn't fall in love with youtube.

well, i don't have any wife

Considering websites have banners (sponsors), posting a video like this is not considered profit use?

there are banners on this page. someone is profiting from using this video, indirectly.

Just a thought, maybe i'm wrong

So i can build my personal website, post in it clips taken on streets and have sponsors without legal issues?

  6. Thailand is not right for everyone that's for sure and if you have been here awhile, it can certainly get to you. However, nowwhere is perfect and I'm sure even Paris has its downsides but if you think you'll be happy there then that's where you should be. Your description of where you were living sounds upcountry and now you are going to Paris (a big city), maybe you would have been happier living in Bangkok...though the public transport is nothing like Paris you can certainly find most of the gourmet food and restaurants one could want. And besides, the Bangkok "public transit system" of taxis are probably cheaper than a Paris metro/bus ticket.

Not really sure what you mean regarding you rant about Thai women...women are women anywhere in the world and they only "take" what men willingly give them. There's good ones and avaricious ones in everyplace.

Maybe you just need a change of scenery...hope you enjoy your new adventure.

    That's what i think too.

Why don't u come to Naples? Compare to Naples, Bangkok looks like Switzerland

  7. Just finnished watching it. BBC should be burned at the stake for that "documentary" -

or was it a "report"? Now we know what has happened in Bangkok.....

    I am speechless.

    Kudos to Al Jazeera thumbsup.gif

I agree that Al Jazeera was the best reporting during the crisis. For some reason the BBC and CNN had and still have rose colored glasses on. The Red Rage show was just a rehash of their reports with little background information, especially Thaksin's role in the whole thing. It made some short reference to people being paid, then cut to some red shirt "spokesman" denying it. It was another, oh the poor red shirts just want "democracy" piece. With a bit of the government's point of view thrown in to make it appear slightly balanced. Hum, they call that journalism? Or a sensationalistic show for ratings?

I would dream of a reporter asking some of those very sympathetic "protesters" how do they define "DEMOCRACY" !

    :whistling:

    lucky u all born rich

lucky u don't need to know what millions of people in this country have to face every single day for a poor meal

    lucky u

next life, maybe u will try how it taste

  8. You are still democratically elected no matter how corrupt you are and how much you buy peoples hearts, minds and votes?

The BBC and international media probably can't comprehend that someone could be so rich and powerful that they could totally corrupt the whole system. Thats basically what Taksin did. Thailand was his private conglomerate. The international media are only looking at the veneer, not the rotten wood underneath.

you talk like "the others" are clean and white. maybe u live in Switzerland and u have never been in Thailand.

Maybe yes, but as a tourist.

And tell where there is no corruption?

and b4 T. there was no corruption? And after T. there in no more corruption? eheheheheh

i think the international media can comprehend better than me and u what's happening in the world. they are well informed.

they are well connected. I think u are looking at the veneer.

everybody knows what means corruption, what means to be rich. ... i'm italian, my PM is Silvio Berlusconi eheheheh

But italians don't care much if he is corrupted. he can run the economy better then "the others", corrupted as well.

  9. "And the Thai government has issued an arrest warrant on charges of terrorism against Mr. Thaksin Shinawat. He was deposed in a coup in 2006"

Hahaha. I like the front bit better.

Is a coup an act of terrorism?

If yes, so Thaksin was out-seated by terrorists ....

If not, why a coup (using army against a government) is not an act of terrorism?

  10. Interpol will make decsions based on technical legal reasons not politics. It will be a time in coming as first certain things must go through the Thai legal system and then be passed on. This isnt something that interpol will decide on today based on what newspapaers, a single Thai police officer, a government spokesperson, Amsterdam or Thaksin say and they also wont be influenced by any of that. It will depend upon the papaerwork being done correctly and the evidence and critically the financial evidence.

some people on here seem to think interpol will get him because he said they won't, a bit sad really, some people have been in thailand too long and think the thai way of doing something is the same in the civilised world :) They forget that in the west rule of law is observed and it is observed based on hard evidence. Interpol can not extradite anyway, they can arrest him in a country and then he is handed to that country, thailand then has to try for extradition, and considering he was ousted in an illegal coup it is highly likely that they will see this as politically motivated, especially after amsterdam gets his teeth into them (despite many on here thinking he is clueless, he is a dam_n good lawyer, just because he goes agaisnt what many on here think does not make him clueless, and lets not forget he is privy to more facts than any of us on here)

Well your statement regarding having someone in the defense like R.Amsterdam makes the rule of law in the west a farce too - doesn't it?

So, after all the famous "rule of law" in the so called "civilized" countries isn't really that much ahead of any 3rd world fiefdoms isn't it?

Just remember the O.J. Simpson case... ! ?

It states clearly that he/she however has the money to afford a "good lawyer" will be able to have fiance someone, who employs a team to find ANY possible loop hole and bend the Paragraphs of law in a way that wrong become right if not right then certainly not wrong!

taking all of this under consideration - even he manages to struggle free that still doesn't make this man innocent!

His hand are dripping with blood and he was is the ONE - no but's 'n if's!

    get it?

i did, but i'm not agree with u

someone else's hand are dripping blood for the 8x dead.

  11. Thailand has come the laughing stock of the western world. Charging him as a terrorist become he made speeches to the Red Shirts against the government is not terrorisms.

No, but funding a terrorist Organisation and ordering them to commit treason certainly is .............. And what leads you to believe Thailand is a laughing stock... Thailand has just been invited to join The worlds leading Human Rights Organisation ... so, who is laughing. Mr Abhisit did a great job with the UDD, most other countries would have gone in much earlier and caused considerable more deaths... He has been applauded by many world leaders including Obama...I think President Obamas opinion is much more important than any Red Shirt Apologists writing rubbish on TV... Did you not see the burning buildings in this beautiful city ?

The red shirts are a terrorist organization????? What about the Yellow shirts they are not?????? Who funded them????? Why aren't they charged. This is why Thailand is becoming the laughing stock of the world So one sided. This is why you will never have peace here.

How many grenades did the yellow shirts have? How many police and soldiers were killed by the yellow shirts? How many by-standers were killed by the yellow shirts?

Occupying the airport was illegal, inconvenienced thousands of people, and was terrible for Thai tourism, but how is that terrorism?

And how many times do people have to be told!!! People HAVE BEEN charged for that.

ahahahaa people have been charged for that. from whom? eheheheheheh

  12. Everyone and their Dogs know Thaksin is guilty of funding that terrorist organisation called UDD... He should be brought home to face his accusers, and if he thinks he is innocent, why does he not come to face them. And serve the 2 years already hanging over him.. His ex-wife and his children should also be on that list as they helped to organise the moneys...

And I don`t know where you get facts that lead you to believe UDD would ever win an election in Thailand, it seems if we are to believe the pollsters, that their popularity has slumped to an all time low of around 18%.. And I`m sure when all the facts come out and the captured Red Shirt Leaders "spill the Beans" that figure will drop even further.. And from what I hear through my limited grapevine, they are spilling "Lots" of beans.....

UDD is not a terrorist organization

and he doesn't come back to face his accusers because they won't be fair. they hate him.

    pollster ... who made it?

do u think in thailand the media are ....

where do u live? get realist

  13. Get real, just because Thailand calls him a terrorist that does not mean he is one, no charges have even actually been laid against him yet for this. Also in other countries (where they actually have a judiciary that is not controlled by the government) they will consider the evidence, they will then see this as politically motivated and just dismiss it out of hand, just like they do with every request kasit has ever made.

In the grand scheme of things Thailand means sod all to the world at large and any ammount of whinging, crying or threats from Thailand will quite rightly be laughed off. This will go nowhere, he will continue his jaunts, next election is party will win, they will gain control of the judiciary and Thaksin will be back.

Oh and as for the requests to extradite him, it takes more than some somchai sitting in an embassy somewhere to call his counterpart and ask that they extradite him (as happened in Sweden), it takes the correct papers, it takes hearings in that country to see if there is evidence, and most importantly if there is a chance of him getting the death penalty he will stay where he is, and since Thailand has already said this allegation (not charge as he has not been charged) carries the death penalty I doubt any country with extradite him.

Thailand needs to realise that the rest of the world does not operate like a kindergarten wwhere people can be bullied into doing things or saying things.

    right!!!!!

  14. yesterday on twitter, Thaksin's daughter posted (in thai) that central world wont be a loss since most thai are too poor to shop there.

    another idiot :D:)

    shame on her !

there is no more Central World. What a disgrace .Shame on you people, only think about your shopping tour, your money to buy anything it thailand, even love.

never mind if hundred POOR people died protesting for they right to participate in the country's decisions, to be PART of this country.

never mind if 90% of the country is suffering working as slave for few money, can't have access to good medical care and school. never mind.

    never mind

also we, "rich" farangs like thialand in this way. that's why we're here. here we look handsome and rich. We even can buy love everyday for few money.

PS: don't try to say i'm pro-thaksin. i don't people like Thaksin! I don't want he comes back. hope he stays far dorm thailand.

I'm just for the democracy and a better distributed wellness and i'm against the classism. if u live in thailand u know very well for rich people

the poor is not just poor, is a monkey. that's what i hate.

Instead of all this bleeding heart BS, why don't you tell us what policies you would like a government to implement?

You think getting rid of inequality is easy?

Why don't you acknowledge the great things Abhisit has achieved including:

    Free education

    Guaranteed income for farmers

transfer of loan shark loans to government banks at affordable interest rates

    I could go on

U're right: getting rid of inequality it is not easy.quiet impossible, and i don't have any recipe for it, unfortunately.

even if i had it i doubt any govern would use it, especially in thailand.

Free education? Maybe the nursery. Could u be more specific about this? i see u must pay to study here. is there is something free so that institution is considered low class, for poor people, so the last. then u will be the last when u will find a job. and u know in thailand what it means.

Guaranteed free income for farmers? I've just came back from chiangmai, where i lived with farmers. they don't see any income form the govern. there are poor. and in the last years the situation is getting worse. even if the education would be free they couldn't send kids to school coz they need them to help the family as soon as possible.

so for the 2 reasons above even if there was a free education in thailand it wouldn't be an effective strategy to get rid of the inequality.

  16. i've to go to the italian embassy tomorrow ... anyone knows if the public holiday will affect it?

    This a joke?

The Italian Embassy uses any excuse imaginable to stop working.

ahahahahah that's true!! italians ... lazy ... like me.

but i hope something extraordinary ...

they no answer by phone since 3 days. they don't write anything new on the website since ... 2007

still have an italian embassy in bkk?

  17. 3) The government will ensure that the media will function as a constructive tool.

By banning the opposition TV and radio channels? How can there be fair elections under such circumstances?

that's the point. they want 6 months free to do what they want. free to change the law. free to ban reds. free ....

then there are too many "IF". what happen "IF" they can't solve one of the five points in 6 months?
