Is it dangerous to sell unripe durian fruit or to allow it to ripen off of the tree?
Why would they make this a criminal act?
How can they export durian if they have to wait until it is ripe since it would rot during the time to transport it put of the country?
Probably this is also related to the unfair competition. Farmers and sellers who sell unripe fruits have an advantage, it is easier to preserve before sales and deliver to the market.

Looks like a sequel of Garland's The Beach, twenty years after, same story with the same consequences. Young westerners in Thailand in search of freedom, disappointment and death.

“Russians are quite good with [filling up] forms"
Russia. Hundreds years of bureaucracy traditions.

Ban all russians would cut the problems in half!
I would ban all stupid arrogant persons with black and white vision of the world, but unfortunately there is no information about people's prejudices in their passports.
-
If your Russian may I congratulate you on your language skills.
Oh, thanks. This is because of procrastination: I spent too much time on Reddit and places like this

For better advice:
How long do you want to stay?
What nationality do you have (Russian)?
Q: is there a rule, that the planned arrival date time/date of the plane is considered?
(analog to the rule when leaving: no advantage by going throigh immigration before midnight, scheduled departure time/date counts)
We'll arrive to Bkk at Dec 1, at about 16.00, going to be there 90 days (60 days by visa and 30 days visa extension), leave Thailand for HK at Feb 25 and come back at Feb 28 in the evening. Yes, we are Russians.
Interesting analog with the leaving rule, thanks. It confirms our decision to apply for the 1 entry.
-
The choice is yours to make !
You are aware of the options !
Sure. But you confirmed my fears of being late. Thanks, we decided to get one entry now and to do the same in HK.
-
Why on earth would you cut it so fine?
Even if the flight's on time you might have to queue that long.
Well, this is quite complicated story We first bought tickets Bkk-HK-BKK to apply for the one entry visa (to show tickets from Thailand), because my wife likes HK. After that we learned that we can easy get two entries visa in Thai Consulate here in Bali. Same little paperwork needed and $60 difference in cost per person. Tomorrow we should apply for one entry and get another one entry visa in Hong Kong or get two entries here and risk. Help us choose the right choice please.

Hi Visa Gurus,
Somehow it happened that I have tickets from Hong Kong to Bkk Suvarnabhumi with arrival at 23.15, or 45 minutes before the time of my second entry with the double entries travel visa will expire. Tickets are not refundable so I should either risk or buy new ticket. How do you think, what are my chances?

I was thinking why there is no Russian mafia in Russia since the nineties, except for anecdotic old fat guys we sometimes see in crime news. Now I know. Thanks god, they all moved to Pattaya.

Poor guy. But don't blame the renter. Nobody likes them and we know why but have a look at this situation without prejudice:
1. The victim tried self-immolation or at least demonstrated such intention
2. After that he killed himself in the cell
Looks like alcoholic psychosis. Aggressive behavior and suicides are usual things for this decease.

of course its not right to run away from the accident!!
To be fair when novice rides this thing without any experience he may not notice a swimmer even after collision.
-
Well, what crime did they actually commit?
- hacked into the banks server?
- used fake ATM cards?
- stealing cash?
- money laundry?
The article says all and nothing about!
They tell about e-banking. I suppose it is about money transfers from another's account via Internet banking.

By the way, is it possible to order a taxi by phone? I think it could help to pay according to the offical rates.

Haha.. I am such a geek! I've always wanted to start a book club but never got round to it!
Let's also watch Doctor Who and Star Track together! )) Great idea seruously, I would love to participate but move to Bali soon. I'll look for this thread if I decide to come back.

Hi
Any Ideas were I could find a signal booster for a wireless router?
Thanks
I use this device: http://www.hfield.com/ Bought it via the Internet and got it by DHL after 2 weeks more then one year ago. In my condo signal without this antenna - about two bars and with it - between four and five. Highly recommended.

I am looking to buy a bicycle (new or used) on Samui. I am in Chaweng but would go elsewhere. I have only seen new ones at Tesco Lotus, but they all seemed too small (I am 6'1" or 185 cm).
Does anybody know of another place to look. I would like something with a gear shift since I plan on taking some extensive trips. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
There is a bicycle shop in Nathon, in the end of the one-way part of ringroad, on the right side of the street if you go from North to South.

This does look very ' Mafia ' Style Killing, but far from anything the Thai Mafia would do...
Maybe this is russian??? ... but if anyone has seen a close up picture, russian men are easily identified....
Of course it is, Boater. You are so romantic... like typical victim of the Hollywood mass culture. It is not typical of Russian mafia to practice trash movies tricks. And I have doubts even in its existence (in your meaning) in the present.

Dear All,
I need a car to move to Bkk. Do you know rental companies who provide one way service? I found only "Budget" and "Thai Rent A Car" and both companies have no cars available for my dates.
Thanks
Try Master Car Rental. They have an office in Samui next to the old terminal, they also have office in Bangkok.Had no trouble with them & MUCH cheaper then Budget & Avis.
Thank you, I'll check them
-
Be prepared to pay a big "drop off" fare. To do a one way drive from Samui to Chiang Mai, it is the normal daily cost plus a 12,000 THB "drop off" fee!
I'm looking to move as well and was going to do the one-way car rental until I discovered this ridiculous fee. I image all the car rental companies have them?
Budget wants two times less but still much more expensive than for usual rent ~6500 for the truck
-
I would speak with a travel agency. I've hired a van and driver relatively cheaply on several occasions, for a flat daily rate (plus fuel). Call around for a good price, don't mention the moving bit (to avoid confusion) until your driver arrives
Good idea, thank you!
-
you could try Avis at the airport.
only the national companies will do this as you collect from 1 airport and drop off at another
if you have alot to move, you could get a ' Taxi ' or a driver to take you to BKK
or get a plan and post the stuff to your new place in BKK
when are your dates?
Tried all big companies with the offices in the airport today (Hertz, Avis, Budget and another one, forgot its name). All are fully booked except Budget. They offered me a truck for ~6500Bht for two days. I don't like trucks so I have to think about it The last day of my rent here is Feb 9 and I should decide to stay for another month or find a car today-tomorrow.
Aussie couple who sought Thai girl's help were never robbed, police say

Well, I don't think that police would be highly motivated to investigate such a small case. I rode a tuk-tuk with my girlfriend a few years ago, when a thief approached us on a bike and cut her handbag. OMG, I love this woman and glad that she later agreed to be my wife - she even organised the pursuit, asking tuk-tuk driver to give chase to the thief! It was really fast and furious, but vainly - thief ran away in the evening traffic. Kind tuk-tuk driver visited with us the police station somewhere near Siam Square and explained what happened to the kind officer, who filled a report with the list of stolen items (I remember iPhone and small camera), and there the matter dropped. All we have in memory of that incident is police report written by beautiful Thai letters. I keep it as a souvenir.
