  1. Stick in at school or you'll end up sweeping the streets. Have you SEEN what street sweepers EARN these days! ????
  2. I bought last year - not 10m though! - paid the deposit from funds already here, then transferred in more than the full purchase price. That way the "it came from overseas" paper from the bank showed enough ฿. I had no problems - used a solicitor of course, I don't have the money to risk anything going wrong.
  3. It's a monstrosity, especially in its prominent position by the sea. I know that there are rules as to how high buildings can be within a certain distance of the sea, and I'm suddenly wondering if that new flat bit between it and the sea - where they feed the poor these days - was intended to increase that distance and help make it legal. IMO, knock it down and burn it, and put that hideous new Walking Street sign on the pyre while you're at it.
  4. How many people live in Chonburi? I know that there are 1.7m residents, but that isn't the same thing at all.
  5. I look at the forecasts when deciding whether to go out or not. If it says it'll be dry, I stay home. If it says it's going to rain, I go out. That way I don't get rained on. ????
  6. A bit misleading, that "tiny village" is just where the cable hits the UK and the power gets fed into the grid. This isn't a plan for just that village.
  7. Many of them don't care, not all, but a lot. They want to be SEEN to be green, but they don't actually care.
  8. Usually, older people have more assets, so would be a better credit risk. Or am I missing something here?
  9. That would involve forward thinking. Thais tend not to look beyond tomorrow. Or, as a wife she might still get a reasonable pension. And the house.....
  10. So, they can only help to shift about 600,000m3 a day. Doesn't sound much, but if that's 600,000m3 that doesn't get into people's houses, it's a good thing, isn't it? I know I'd prefer if I didn't get even 1m3 in mine. Credit where it's due; this won't do much, but it will do something.
  11. If you have your 13 digit ID number - the ones issued for this purpose start 60000 - then download the Mor Phrom app, and you should see your certificate and Digital Health Pass. Or not, there are reports of issues with it (there's a shock ????). It worked fine for me anyway. Oh, there's a pop-up with a lot of Thai on it - something about post-jab feedback - and 2 options, the small Thai word is "close" and that gets me past it.
  12. I would look at the Honda Forza. A lot depends though on your size and physical condition; don't buy one that doesn't feel comfortable to sit on and get on & off the centre stand. Could you pick it up if you dropped it?
  13. I use surge protector extension leads in my condo (where I can plug in 5 things) but I don't actually know if they're any use at all as my wall sockets don't have an earth. Does anyone know about that? If they do work, maybe the OPO could use those. Not too worried personally as my building has good lightning protection - metal rope round the roof, which goes to the ground in several places. Multiple local transformers cooking off causing power cuts haven't affected anything either. Am I safe?
  14. Central Pattaya. Storm yes, but nothing special.
  15. I'm not aware that visa status plays any part here, I don't remember being asked about mine.
  16. Looks like the bike was even modified for wheelies; high rear footrests to stand on.
  17. "to bail out tourism businesses hit by the pandemic" If it was used for that, it would almost be acceptable. Likely the big boys of the tourist industry will benefit, but I think the small players who really need it won't see a satang.
  18. As a non-medical person, my take is that everyone will be infected. The vast majority won't even notice. The vaccinated who get sick won't get very sick. The unvaccinated who get sick could be a lot sicker, possibly hospitalised, possibly die.
