  1. Kasikorn, Beach Rd Jomtien, it's between Soi 1 & 2, ideal when you're going to Immigration, even has bike parking.
  2. Pandemic or endemic. In practical terms, what difference does it make? That sounds flippant, but it's a serious question.
  3. I got annoyed at the extra traffic, then remembered that it was the city waking up and smiled.
  4. For Jomtien, when I get the bank letter, I also get a year's statement. Never have issues with that.
  5. It's Unidentified, it's Flying & it's an Object. Until positively identified, it's a UFO by definition.
  6. Anti-virals are good, if taken in the first few days of infection, they are little use after then.
  7. It's deducted. Also, all your taxable income is added together for tax. Normally, State Pension won't be taxed, but the tax due on it will be taken by lowering your tax cade that's applied to those other sources.
  8. Look at the shadows, photo taken about mid-day. Thais don't like to go brown and most don't hit the beach until late afternoon.
  9. Rent - more expensive in the long term, but no repair costs unless you crash it. Buy - cheaper in the long term and you can customise it (I NEED my Scottish flags ????) but all repairs are down to you. Up To You. I rented when I used to come on holiday, then bought when I moved here. No regrets.
  10. Compared to some posters, my condo block seems fine. My biggest peeve is that the (Thai) juristic person / building manager seems to make and implement whatever rules she wants. No AGMs these days either, Covid is the excuse as usual.
  11. Post-Covid, 2 or 3 days of water could be fun. 10 days in Pattaya is a nightmare. Keep it short and sweet please.
  12. Anything else would be silly; if positive, she could put an entire domestic plane-load of passengers at risk of being locked up.
  13. Just keep them away from Pattaya please. I don't want to see it turn into another Sihanoukville. ????
  14. Well, expats tend to be older and not like the water throwing, tourists like it but are few on the ground, so yes, the majority will be Thai.
  15. They can't even stop the farms burning off, and that's very visible.
  16. Rightly or wrongly, people are no longer scared of Covid. They ARE scared of being locked up in "Covid Gaol", even if they have no or small symptoms. Or even a condo to go to. You want the tourists back, stop locking them up.
  17. But, does having had Delta provide any immunity against Omicron? Will having had Omicron provide any immunity against the next strain? Look no smilies, serious questions.
  18. Get used to this, as long as the high ups keep crawling to China, more and more cheap imports will come, at the expense of local businesses.
  19. Can't recruit Thais? I hear that there are some spare Russians around. ????
  20. The trouble is that Putin has no easy way out without losing face, and hence power. If that happens he's dead and he knows it.
  21. Winning seems to be restricted to Thais only; we buy the same number of tickets, from the same vendors, but my wife has won 3 times this year, I've won nothing. ????
  22. These figures will be used to justify a water-free Songkran. Shame they can't cancel inter-provincial travel too.
  23. If they started promoting what Thailand is famous for, the Europeans would return. Beaches and temples only go so far, there are many better and closer beaches - and there are only so many temples you can visit before yawning. Ok, the entry is a bit over-the-top these days, but 25 years ago when I first came, the journey itself was a nightmare. We still came though, again and again, and spent money.
