  1. Why do people automaticaly assume that people from the NE are uneducated? Anyway, my extended family say that despite the alleged corruption of TRT (which they believe will happen with any govt.) at least they did god things for them, they know it will be more for popularity and vote winning but the end result is the same, they got looked after by TRT more than others.

If you are doing better under one bunch and they get kicked out by soldiers, wouldn't you go against the soldiers new constitution on principle? I wouldn't read it either.

  2. The quality of those busses is terrible anyway, I am surprised there is not a VIP option, I made the mistake of using the bus once, never again, it was my own fault for being cheap, why would anyone bother when you can get a nice car and driver to take you door to door for a thousand baht? Recline away. The woman in question obviously has no maners whatsoever and I think the reclining gal did the right thing, however her boyfriend needs some lessons in chivalry.

  3. After spending some time with friends in Pattaya I was both amazed and jealous to see the amount of deliverable quality food on offer.

Here in Bangkok I am aware of Mc Donalds, KFC, Oishi, MK etc. but does anyone know where we can get delivery of Indian, Italian and other foods? I hope they are not limited to Sukhumvit / Silom area.

  4. I am by no means fluent, but converse in Thai every day and very rarely have to resort to a dictionary, however as others have said, when you can read Thai you realise how many errors you have been making with pronunciation, not a real problem though becuase the locals also make those mistakes.

I remember having a chat with a phd student in UK and she was one of the few Thais' I have met who pronounces the "R" properly and could say Central like a Westerner. When we commented on it she said that it was the correct way to say Central but when she gets a taxi here she has to say it the Thai way or they don't understand her.

It is not so bad speaking Thai here as so many Thais' butcher their own language as do those in the West, take Geordies, scousers etc.

in the UK or the coon asses in Louisianna.

I agree that it may be laziness on the part of many ex pats who don't learn Thai but there are indeed those who just cannot learn languages very well, it doesn't make them pathetic.

  5. A Thai friend is thinking of buying a condo and she has ben told that a certain place is offering a deal where you pay a deposit and then more than the normal monthly rental and after 15 or 20 years (depending on monthly payments) the condo will belong to her.

I know these options used to be available in BKK but I haven't heard of them recently, do they still exist and if so are they a viable option or are there some traps?

  6. I'm proud to say Khun Bunyart Buntuttarn, Khun Prachuab Chaiyasarn and Khun Suthut Ngernmeurn were my classmate from TU, still in -touch and seeing them everytime when I come to BK. :o

This friendship has last over four long decades. :D

Coincidence,Bunyart's son lived in my house when he was studying in England.

I also met Little and Large when they stayed in a hotel I worked in as a kid and met Big Daddy the wrestler who invited me to punch him in the guts.
