I see the jet ski mobs ventured out late morning. I guess it's an opportunity for them; accident = more money

I read a few weeks ago that the lifeguard service had been suspended on all beaches because the contract had not been renewed. Is this still the case? The un-seasonal stormy weather and large waves over the next few days will surely lead to incidents in the water. Let's hope the authorities have resolved this otherwise people will be pointing the finger after the first drowning...

Thanks for the replies. It's actually a visa that allows me to work officially as a volunteer (with work permit). I guess it's the same however, and I can take my passport with me after submitting the forms.

I have a quick question about renewing my visa; a non-immigrant O type. I've renewed annually for the last 2 years and am due to do it again next week. I seem to remember that they extend it for 30 days while it is 'under consideration' and then it's usually approved after that. I can't remember if it's necessary to leave the passport at immigration when I submit the application. It has become an issue for me because I also need my passport for something else next week. If anyone could confirm one way or the other that would be great. Thank you.

Thanks for the advice Mario

I was wondering if it's possible to extend my non-immigrant visa while I am waiting for official paperwork. My employer has to obtain something from one of the government departments but I don't think it will be ready before the visa expires. Someone mentioned that they thought I could get an extra 7 days. If so, do I apply using the standard TM7 form (photo, 2000 baht etc..) at immigration?
Thanks in advance for your advice

I currently work as a volunteer for a foundation. I have a valid work permit and non-immigrant visa which is due to expire later this month. I have had 2 x 1 year extensions to this visa already, which were issued by Bangkok immigration office. I'm assuming that I can extend it for another year but I need to know if it's possible for someone from my foundation to make the application with all of the necessary paperwork? (I will be out of town). Are there any extra forms that I would need to sign?
Thanks

I've used a couple of local bike shops and happy to say that I have experienced the same. Couldn't believe how low the bills have been - I would have paid considerably more if demanded

Siam Beach
in Phuket
Thanks for the heads up. I was thinking of taking a look but won't bother. Why bother when there are so many good beaches on Phuket that are free?

I went to the big sports shop in Jung Ceylon to buy a tennis racket. I checked a few and they all had small grips. When I asked the shop assistant he said they were all the same size (for Asian people). It sounds like the store buyer hasn't got much of a clue because there must be quite a few farang buying rackets. Anyway, I'm looking for somewhere that stocks a range of grip sizes if anyone has some suggestions. thanks

We are looking for some Phuket venues that would be interested in hosting preview screenings of a feature length documentary that will be premiered in the U.S. next year. Size is not really an issue; the main requirement is that there should be some kind of projection equipment or large screen TV.
The film is about a group of HIV-infected Thai children, abandoned by their families to die, and their struggle to be accepted by society. It isn't what you might expect; far from being predictable and depressing, it offers hope, compassion and inspiration. The story is framed by the children's preparations for an ambitious performance in an opera, based on the best selling book, Life of Pi.
We would be happy to discuss the format, but are thinking of a screening followed by a question & answer session with the director, who lives in Phuket. It could also be included as part of a host's existing activities or combined with a party, live music, fundraiser etc...
Any suggestions or advice greatly appreciated! Please send a message if you want to discuss hosting a screening.

Is it possible to buy a PCI express network card in Phuket? All of the places that I've looked in only have standard PCI cards.
My onboard adaptor has broken but it's part of the motherboard so it can't be replaced. I was going to add a new card but I only have PCI express slots available. I tried one of those USB ethernet adaptors and it didn't work.

I need to link 2 routers together and require a crossover adaptor. The cable is long and already in place so I don't want to replace it with a crossover cable. My skills don't extend to making my own!
Any ideas where I can buy one in Phuket?
Many thanks

Exactly the same thing with iPod Nano, I now earthed my PC (costs about 400 baht including pool and wire) and no more shocks, sadly the iPod Nano is non recoverable, i just purchased an iPod Touch too replace.
How did you go about earthing it?

I had my nokia 5800 connected to my desktop pc via USB when it suddenly died on me. Now it won't turn back on. It's a little over a year old and I haven't had any problems with it.
Like many other people here I get a lot of small shocks from my pc case and I noticed this got transferred down the USB cable to the phone connector. I was wondering if this might be the cause of the fault? Would they be able to fix it at MBK?

I work for a Foundation that recently used an overseas contractor for some IT services. The contractor submitted an invoice and our bookkeeper said that we have to make a deduction of 15% (?) which has to be paid to the Thai tax department. I've never heard of this before. Does anyone have any information on this? Thanks

I have a friend who is nearing the end of the first part of her double entry tourist visa. I know that she needs to leave the country to activate the second part but I was wondering if it was possible to extend the first part of the visa (even if it's just for a few days). If this is possible, would she be required to visit the immigration office or could a 3rd party take passport along on her behalf? Many thanks
-
On my passport it says that I have to leave the country by a specified date ( I've already had the initial extension for 1 year which I got when I entered the country and took it to immigration in suan plu). Are you saying that it can be extended for a further 12 months?

I'm coming to the end of my first non-imm O type visa. I have a work permit for doing voluntary work which is still valid for another year. I just wanted to check if the procedures are the same for obtaining a new visa. i.e. leaving the country and the paperwork required? Many thanks

Does anybody have any experience of City Home on Ratchada, Soi 10? i.e. how noisy, what the facilities are like, direct phone lines etc...
It looks to be a well-priced block and convenient for MRT and shopping
Thanks

I'm looking for a sound engineer (with equipment) who can record a 'theatre-style' live show to be held in Khon Kaen in December. We already have a PA company but the complexity of the show and stage setup is beyond them. The performance will involved children who are moving around the stage and singing, as well as a group of musicians. The signal will need to be fed to the PA system and recorded. We need a professional who has experience with these sort of events. Any recommendations?
