Is it possible to buy a PCI express network card in Phuket? All of the places that I've looked in only have standard PCI cards.
My onboard adaptor has broken but it's part of the motherboard so it can't be replaced. I was going to add a new card but I only have PCI express slots available. I tried one of those USB ethernet adaptors and it didn't work.

I need to link 2 routers together and require a crossover adaptor. The cable is long and already in place so I don't want to replace it with a crossover cable. My skills don't extend to making my own!
Any ideas where I can buy one in Phuket?
Many thanks

Exactly the same thing with iPod Nano, I now earthed my PC (costs about 400 baht including pool and wire) and no more shocks, sadly the iPod Nano is non recoverable, i just purchased an iPod Touch too replace.
How did you go about earthing it?

I had my nokia 5800 connected to my desktop pc via USB when it suddenly died on me. Now it won't turn back on. It's a little over a year old and I haven't had any problems with it.
Like many other people here I get a lot of small shocks from my pc case and I noticed this got transferred down the USB cable to the phone connector. I was wondering if this might be the cause of the fault? Would they be able to fix it at MBK?

I work for a Foundation that recently used an overseas contractor for some IT services. The contractor submitted an invoice and our bookkeeper said that we have to make a deduction of 15% (?) which has to be paid to the Thai tax department. I've never heard of this before. Does anyone have any information on this? Thanks

I have a friend who is nearing the end of the first part of her double entry tourist visa. I know that she needs to leave the country to activate the second part but I was wondering if it was possible to extend the first part of the visa (even if it's just for a few days). If this is possible, would she be required to visit the immigration office or could a 3rd party take passport along on her behalf? Many thanks
-
On my passport it says that I have to leave the country by a specified date ( I've already had the initial extension for 1 year which I got when I entered the country and took it to immigration in suan plu). Are you saying that it can be extended for a further 12 months?

I'm coming to the end of my first non-imm O type visa. I have a work permit for doing voluntary work which is still valid for another year. I just wanted to check if the procedures are the same for obtaining a new visa. i.e. leaving the country and the paperwork required? Many thanks

Does anybody have any experience of City Home on Ratchada, Soi 10? i.e. how noisy, what the facilities are like, direct phone lines etc...
It looks to be a well-priced block and convenient for MRT and shopping
Thanks

I'm looking for a sound engineer (with equipment) who can record a 'theatre-style' live show to be held in Khon Kaen in December. We already have a PA company but the complexity of the show and stage setup is beyond them. The performance will involved children who are moving around the stage and singing, as well as a group of musicians. The signal will need to be fed to the PA system and recorded. We need a professional who has experience with these sort of events. Any recommendations?

I had a knee operation earlier in the year. I tried the Bkk christian hospital on silom rd but got the impression they were `sizing me up' and pitched their quote accordingly. In the end I settled for St Louis on sathorn rd. Treatment was great and I have no complaints whatsover. The bill was actually 30% cheaper than their quote.
I returned for a course of dental treatment (4 visits) and it was as good as any other dentist I have visited.
I believe that the hospital is a non-profit organisation, hence the reason you don't get ripped off

I currently help out with an AIDS orphanage not far from Bangkok. We are making a feature length documentary about a project that the children are involved with. We are looking for someone who speaks Thai and can help with interview translations etc... Also, it would be great if they could double-up as a boom mic operator (no experience needed). Filming continues until next spring and is mostly at weekends. PM me for more details.

Thanks for all your help. It sounds like the paperwork is the same as for the work permit.
Cheers

Thanks Lite Beer.
I checked the document but it's still not clear. It says I need the following -
- Application form (Is this available to download?)
- Copy of passport/work permit (does this mean every page or just those with the relevant stamps?)
- Copy of the approval for set up the official organization, or copy of the approval for entering the Kingdom issued by the related government sectors/ organization. the certified letter and request for stay issued by the Chief the government sector will be required. (I have no idea what this is)
Thanks again

I have a 3 month non-immigrant O visa which is due to expire on Dec 22nd.I am working as a volunteer and have just obtained my work permit. Could someone please tell me how I go about obtaining a 12 month extension to the visa and what documents I need? I know that for extending a tourist visa you can do it on the last valid day at Suan Plu; can I leave it this late for a 12 month extension on a non-imm O? Also, how much extra does it cost for a multiple entry visa?
Many thanks in advance

I'm heading off to KL to apply for a 3 month non-immigrant B visa. I know they ask for a copy of your passport and I was wondering if it's just the main page and current visa they need or if it's every page of your passport that has a stamp.
When I applied for a non education visa last year they wanted every page copied about 5 times (which ended up taking ages to copy). I just want to make sure I'm prepared.
Many thanks
Advice & Venues Needed For Preview Screenings Of New Film
in Phuket

We are looking for some Phuket venues that would be interested in hosting preview screenings of a feature length documentary that will be premiered in the U.S. next year. Size is not really an issue; the main requirement is that there should be some kind of projection equipment or large screen TV.
The film is about a group of HIV-infected Thai children, abandoned by their families to die, and their struggle to be accepted by society. It isn't what you might expect; far from being predictable and depressing, it offers hope, compassion and inspiration. The story is framed by the children's preparations for an ambitious performance in an opera, based on the best selling book, Life of Pi.
We would be happy to discuss the format, but are thinking of a screening followed by a question & answer session with the director, who lives in Phuket. It could also be included as part of a host's existing activities or combined with a party, live music, fundraiser etc...
Any suggestions or advice greatly appreciated! Please send a message if you want to discuss hosting a screening.
