  1. I don't get what the benefit of changing from B to O is??

Sorry for hijacking your thread but... I currently have multi B with WP but I am shortly to end my job, my Visa will expire in June (I will get a further 90 day entry before it expires) so I need a new one. I am British but I emailed Perth as they issued the last one to me with just company docs and no WP, as an alternative I asked if they would issue a multi O based on living with a Thai partner (unmarried) and they said no problem just bring copy of her ID card and passport. They also said I would not be able to work on a O, but I am pretty sure this is wrong!

  2. Hi can anyone help me with this?

I have been working since November hours 9 - 5, I can't and don't want to ride a motorbike, I can drive car but don't have one. I have a copy of email stating this before I took this job (which is only 10 mins from where I live and a big factor in me taking the job) I specifically asked will the working location change as I don't have transport.

Ok 5 months later and they want to change where I work to about 20K away and also my hours change to 12-8. They say I must learn to ride bike (no chance, I don't want to ride that distance every day). If they provided me with a car or funded a taxi everyday I would probably accept it.

I don't have any formal employment contact, can they do this? At worst if I don't agree and they fire me what legal grounds do I have in reference to unfair dismassal etc?

    Thanks

  3. This is a similar online money lending site to Prosper but can join from UK, Italy or USA addresses. If you join with this link you get 30GBP when you lend or borrow 500GBP, and I do too!

    ZOPA

Another web money maker I use is my search funds, use it for web searches and they split the advertising revenue with you 50/50, typically you get between 3 and 4 pence per search, I even use it to navigate to pages I already have bookmarked. It aint gonna make you rich just something for nothing. Again I make a cut if you follow my link but if you don't want to do that just do a search and find it yourself.

  4. Hi, I have a year multi B visa issued in Perth in June, in my passport overlapping the visa stamp it is stamped NO EXTENSION OF STAY PERMITTED, is this what it sounds like? I am just about to receive my WP and was hoping to avoid the visa runs with a 1 year extension but this stamp in my passport sounds like I will have to apply for a new visa,am I correct?? Thanks

  5. Yes I can confirm as at June Singapore only give 3 month not multi entry, I asked most consulates around Thai even though I was advised I couldnt do it, just wanted to hear it for myself. This is the response I got from Singapore...

  6. You dont have to go back to the UK but I believe you do need to leave Asia.

If you have a company to sponsor you then go to Perth Australia. I did this back in June with a UK passport, you submit documents in person and collect Visa 2 days later on a Tuesday or Thursday only, fee was AUD225 for a 1 year multi entry, the flight can be cheap too from Phuket to Perth return I paid under 16,000B with Tiger Airways, strangely enough the price was cheaper if booked in two legs i.e. Phuket>Singapore>Perth rather than 1 ticket even though it was exact same flights??

  7. Thanks astral, if you stick to the rules all locations should be listed but as TerryLH says its work, therefore visiting a customer in another location should be listed? -if its not a problem do you have to just specify you will visit customers off site and these will be short term non permanent locations? will they approve this? Thanks

  8. Hi, just waiting my WP for new job, the job will be mainly office based but sometimes they require me to work in other locations, my employer would also like me to try to do some promoting which will involve visiting customers without a prior appointment - is this allowed by the WP?

I read this on angloinfo website in the info pages which says the WP must list the locations of work, how when the locations will contantly change??...

"The work permit will name the employer, state the activities that may be engaged in and the location in which the duties may be performed"

    Thanks.

  9. Yes as stated it's a Thai person and Thai Co, no loan involved no bond paid upfront, its a legit company with a dozen or so branches within Thai, just trying to help out does not affect me, yes they have provided education but any outsider can get also this at 18,000B.

Does Thailand have something similar to the Unfair Contracts Terms Act?

    Thanks for replies.

  10. Not sure where to post this but here goes...

Thai employment contract (with Thai employee/employer) signed 6 months ago, fine of 100,000B if you leave within 2 years. 1 month before contract is made is training which is paid for by company, if you pay for this as an individual it's around 18,000B. Employee wants to leave to move away, has asked for a transfer to another branch within the company but was denied re the contract. contract guaranteed by parents, neither her or parents have the money if they wanted to pay. Others have left and the rumour is they just send a letter with no further action. The fine is unreasonable in comparison to the salary, I think reasonable to ask for training fees back but nothing more.

I know its difficult without seeing the actual contract, but does anyone have any advice? Thanks.

  11. Its easy from Perth I did this back in June as a British citizen, you submit documents in person and collect Visa 2 days later on a Tuesday or Thursday only, fee is AUD225 for a 1 year multi entry.

If you email them they respond in a few days from my experience [email protected] they will forward you the documents to complete ahead of time, alternatively PM with your email and I can forward them to you - sure I still have them.

A tip about the flight - From Phuket to Perth return was less than 16,000B with Tiger Airways, strangely enough the price was cheaper if booked in two legs i.e. Phiket>Singapore>Perth.

  12. I've just been offered a job and they say they will provide WP after 1 month trial, any comments about this? Is there any way of getting a fast track temporary WP for cases like this, or do I just go with it? Thanks.

In some caes they could get you a 15 day wp. Just depends on the work involved. Don't work without a wp.

    www.sunbeltasiagroup.com

Thanks for the advice! What might happen if I was caught without the WP? Is it just a slap on the wrist or something more serious that will affect getting the WP in the future.

  13. Thanks for your help,

I too don't believe everything I read on the net it just seemed to make sense if it was true - what is the purpose of making you leave and then re-enter? if it's just for registering would the authorities not make more money by allowing you to renew at an immigration office for a fee instead?

A visa run it is then, any company recommendations?

  14. Hi, a couple of questions about getting new 90 day stamp on my multi entry non imm b visa:

Can anyone recommend a visa run trip from phuket > ranong? if the admitted until date is 12th can I do the run on the 12th or need to go before?

Also does anyone know anything about this I have just read on www.legalthailand.com

''Your best choice is to obtain a Multiple-Entry Non-Immigrant visa type B (Business Visa) which valid for 12 months. With this visa type you will need to exit and enter Thailand at least every 90 days to get a new entry stamp allowing you to stay a further 90 days.

Is that what you have always heard of? But please read this! There's always an exemption in Thailand! Suppose you already got a Non-Immigrant Visa (i.e. Business Visa) and suppose you are already in Thailand for 65 days, so now what to do? The Immigration Bureau of Thailand stated that "if the holder of non-immigrant Visa notice the Immigration Bureau of Thailand in approximately every 90 days (before his/her first 90 days expires), the Immigraion Bureau will allow non-immigrant visa holder to stay in Thailand for another 90 days without exit and re-enter Thailand!"

    Thanks

  15. I wouldn't be doing it Trader. Thai law says you must be in the jurisdiction of the Embassy / Consulate where the application is made. Go to Thailand via Australia and get the visa there.

Ok thanks. I am a new zealander so may as well go to new zealand for a week and get it there.. any potential problems? Just thinking to save on hotel fees etc as I suppose in australia I have to go to canberra?

Another question: I phoned the NZ embassy and they said I need a police clearance even though I am working at a univeristy? Did they get it wrong?

I did this in June to Perth, Phuket to Bangkok return flight was less than 18,000B return with airasia. Strangely it was cheaper to book it in 2 lots i.e. Phuket to Singapore then Singapore to Perth rather than as one ticket on exact same flights. Perth consulate issued the non imm b multi entry visa quickly -submitted on Tuesday picked up on Thursday - just need a supportng letter faxed over on advance.
