  1. Hi folks !

I did a long search in old threads, however never came exactly to my point of interest. Some threads were even 2-3 years old of people interested to buy certain equipment.

Let me put my questions here and maybe one or the other reads them and is using what I will be asking for and give me some hands on input !

All planning is done for next years harvest though

Thanks in advance to whoever will answer to my thread

    1. does anyone have and/ or use Kubota DC-60 plus Rice Harvester. what's the experience

    2. does anyone have and/ or use Kubota SPU-68C Ricetransplanter. is it really worthwhile ?

    3. how one can get here a 2nd rice harvest ? Guess only with proper irrigation system. Does anyone do it like this and what are costs involved for irrigation and does it finally pay off ?

    4. where can one get in LOS a sugar cane harvester ?

Thanks for all the input I hope to get

  2. I am craving for a nice thick pastrami sandwich. I was desperate so I went to Subway but they don't even carry the pastrami. Is there a really good deli in Bangkok? Please help!!!!!!

try Eurogourmet bistro in Ekamai or via ChefsXP for the extraordinal Reuben or just PM JohnBKK and ask how to get one

  3. I am a jealous man JohnBKKK :D you must be at least 200 kg's eating all that great food :D

well ... ehem .... I'm certainly not a lightweight but far off the suggested mark .. more like 120 KG :D I certainly would if I ate all this food everyday, but a funny thing happens to cooks, having tasted very small amounts of a variaty of dishes, probabaly less than a cup full in all, one is full. I have a harty breakfast in the morning and than nothing until about 7pm when I have a small dinner .. today Goulash, half of a portion that we normally serve at the Bistro, with some Walnutbread.

Today my Thai staff was particulaly fond of the Walnut Bread and I had to guard it carefully ... Walnuts ain't cheap these days, but they always manage to talk me out of some bread to take home to their families ..... they also enjoy some good sausages :D

    John, the not soooo heavy

    120 kg ??? :o

  4. Correct, this is low season and most businesses are hurting.

So can someone answer this please? I have friends who want to visit Phuket from Australia in October, but can't get seats on the planes. And yes, they are flexible with their dates. Still little joy, unless of course they accept the block of seats available at 3 times the usual fare. They have plenty of those.

I have also heard of numerous friends who can't make connections on long haul flights from Europe due to lack of schedules between Bangkok & Phuket.

There are plenty of hotel rooms and it seems plenty of demand. So why don't the airlines put on extra flights?

And I am not interested in the stories about how difficult the airline industry is. They whinge about oil increases, but it's all passed onto the consumer anyway. Has the surcharge decreased since the price of oil dropped, I doubt it.

if your friends cannot get a connection Bkk - Phuket, tell them to check Bkk - Surathani or Bkk - Krabi from both places you are in Phuket in 2-3 hours by bus or taxi

  6. having been to the Bistro Eurogourmet twice now, I have had the Goulash with Gnochies the first time which was outstanding and the Gnochies beautifully soft, little dumplings were the best I've ever had. The second time I had the Cheeze Burger - wow - big with lots of flavor and they use real cheese which adds even more flavor, the meat was firm and juicy and the roll lightly toasted in all. in my humble opinion the best Burger I've hadin a very long time - as posted above, even the french fries are outstanding
