  1. I just attempted to cancel my work permit. Everything I found online suggested I simply go with a form filled out and a letter from the company and it’s an easy process. However I’ve just been told I can’t do it personally as I am not an owner of the company. I was previously director and shareholder but the DBD has been changed and I am no longer. The problem is I leave Thailand in 2 days. I know if I don’t get it cancelled and cancel my visa/extension then the company will be fined. It is very unlikely this is going to happen in time. Is there anything I can do to avoid the fine myself? If I go to immigration without my work permit being cancelled can they still cancel my visa/extension. Then I get the 7 day extension to leave Thailand. Then the owner of the company or a representative can go and cancel my work permit later? I also understand not cancelling my visa correctly could have negative effects for me trying to get other visas. I plan to apply for a DTV in Vietnam and don’t want this to ruin that.
  2. I have a work permit and visa extension for employment at a company I used to own. I have since sold this company and will leave Thailand soon to get the DTV visa. I am trying to not cause the company to get any fines by leaving without correctly cancelling my Work Permit. My question is I have a flight booked on the morning on 14th Nov. If I get a letter from my company stating my employment is terminated on 14th. Can I go to the Labour Department 1-2 days before to get my Work Permit cancelled then not bother going to Immigration to cancel my visa? Because my visa is technically valid until the 14th when I leave as that is when my employment is terminated. Or if I go to get my Work Permit cancelled on the 12th or 13th will I still legally have to go to Immigration to cancel my Visa and pay for the 1,900 refused extension stamp until I leave on the 14th to avoid overstay?
  3. I live in a relatively new and mid-upper market condo that was build in the last 10 years. However the building seems to have a pest control problem. I know from my real estate agent and several friends who live in the building that a common problem is a small beetle like insect. It may be a sub species of cockroach I am not sure. I have bought several pest killing substances online, powders, goo, spray etc. In the beginning some of them seem to have a slight effect but now they do nothing. Standard insect spray like RAID seems to do little also. The only way is to splat them when i see them or the cockroach glue traps. The population has increased a lot in the last few months so I am looking for a better and potentially more permanent solution or at least something that will reduce the population in my area of the building/apartment. The juristic office also offers a pest control service but in the past it seems to also not be very effective. However I do plan on getting them in at the end of the month and clearing out all the cupboards and food so they can really go to town on the whole area to see if that makes a difference also. Part of the problem is there are fitted cupboards and LED lighting etc in the kitchen so there are many places they can hide and nest. Attached are some photos of them if anyone has any idea what species they are and any effective pest control measures/substances to help control them please let me know.
  4. 4 years ago when applying for a Tourist Visa in Vietnam for thailand the process required an outbound flight from thailand for the application. I just received my e-tourist visa through the website. But during the process there was no talk of requiring a return or outbound flight. Has anyone recently entered Thailand without having a return or outbound flight? I am worried that they may question me at Immigration about not having one.
