What makes a difference, as stated in a previous post, was your suggestion to reduce the backlight to the minimum setting, zero.

I'd be grateful if you'd explain why you initially suggested doing this. I assume it's related to power requirements (in relation to internet use) and its effect on electronic components.

pretty much. unfortunately some brands of TV are under engineered, yours included. (my opinion and my experience.) there are fewer LEDS in newer TVs.

I had a 2013 model 42 inch which was edge lit with 200 odd leds. i'm about to work on a 2015 model 55 inch which has around 50 leds directly lighting the screen from the rear. the fewer leds mean they are worked harder and brighter than 'normal'. if i had the tv, i would start by disconnecting various strips to see if the fault disappeared. that was my idea behind suggesting reducing the backlight intensity. otherwise a fault with the power supply, being noisy, possibly due to failing caps. i could waffle on, but you're probably almost falling asleep with boredom already, so i'll leave it there...

Replacement Backlight Array LED Strip Bar LG 42LF580V 42LB580V 42LB5500 42LB585B 42LB585U 42LB585V 42LF561V 42LF5610 42LF5800 42" TVImage result for samsung led stripexcept to post these 2 images. of LED strips.

first one is what u have.   second one is the better idea.

If u r in Thailand, I can't see a repair shop charging more than 300 B to diagnose, or 1000-1500 for proper repair.

  2. if the other posts regarding remote control isn't helping, then do try my other suggestions, especially software upgrade.

using streaming will use marginally more power, and needs 'clean' power. hence my thoughts on the capacitors on the PSU/ power supply board. failing capacitors will have a lower value and the supply will get 'noisy'.

as i said, check out my other suggestions first. the next step i would go to is to check the power supply. many local TV repair shops will only charge a few hundred baht for  an assessment.

I mentioned LED's as when they begin to fail, they will draw more power, and a feedback loop to the PSU will detect this, and power on /off, but there would be visible signs on the screen. replacing the PCB would have no effect, to test i would disconnect part of the backlighting.

maybe best left to a shop?

Saw this after my post above. I agree too with your comments. I got a motorcycle scooter in Feb 2020 to use in BKK and for touring. Even after riding bikes since 16, being a motorcycle mechanic, working as a London motorcycle courier for 5+ years and riding big bikes (1000 cc), the experience of riding around Bangkok took a fair while to get used to and scared the <deleted> out of me at first.

    same here.

i did a ride from hualamphong station to pattaya. i have biked through 35 ish provinces, and bangkok i never did again. khon kaen i would put at 2nd worst place to ride due to the intense traffic and road layout through the city, but still not a patch on BKK.

some good advice given by others. i guess take it easy until you get used to it.

  4. oh yes... samsung.

i'll assume it's a smart TV rather than using a dongle/ smart stick.(amazon, roku etc...)

a couple of things you can try, you've probably done this already, leave it turned off (unplugged from the wall socket for as long as possible, say a few hours.)

if no joy, i can suggest that you try a factory reset. i know it's a pain having to do passwords etc, but that's the next step, try a software upgrade, through the TV menu is OK, but download to a USB stick from a PC then from the USB to the TV seems to work better...

if no joy still.... if the TV is actually turning itself off then back on, maybe clicking or flashing the standby LED, there used to be a common fault with leaky/ faulty capacitors on the power PCB inside the TV.

capacitors will sometimes show signs of bulging or leaking electrolyte. capacitors used to be easy to find at places such as amorn. replacement boards should be easy to find, use the part number or PCB ID etched on it. there is possibly a chance that the fault with the power supply board may have corrupted software on the main/ mother board, but symptoms would be more severe than you describe.

    good luck getting it sorted.

Just to add..... maybe try this very very first.... in the TV settings, reduce the backlight to a minimal setting, maybe 'eco' mode if you can't find backlight setting. it must be the backlight you reduce, not the 'brightness' of the screen. if this stops the fault, let me know and i will reply...

Your comments are racist, unfounded and out of order. Also, one historical case, does not back up your wild accusations.

Provide statistics over the last 20 years.

    historical? 555 I'm hysterical.

You want ME to provide you with 20 years stats? I'm hysterical.

I don't suppose you have the internet where you are...?

    Stereotyping! ........Oh yeah.

Also,"a notherner, from the north of england"

Where would you think they come from ...........Belgium???

"Not surprising so many from this area make it onto the thai news regularly"

Please back that statement up that people from the North of England make into the Thai news with more frequency than anywhere else!

I doubt if you can, in fact I know you cannot.

    yes i can.

    here is the latest.

next you'll say it's the only one. it's not.... it's the latest.... of many many many.

  7. a northerner, from the north of england i assume....

i met a guy from the north of england, who was telling me that the further north you went, the friendlier the people were, but looked like he was happy to fight anyone who disagreed with this. he was from manchester.

not surprising how many guys from this area make it onto the thai news regularly. i prefer to make acquaintances with the shandy drinking southerners myself...

  8. i'm sure all you have to do (although this sounds weird even coming from me) is to set foot on it. evidence of visit by photo or witness, so that land is not considered to be abandoned. something along the lines also if you stay on a piece of land unhindered by the owner or any authorities (for a full 10 years) then you can have a claim to that land. i'm sure i've heard something like this... ???

English must not be your first language.

This variant started in England.  It's already spread all over the world.

    From England.

I think what you're *trying* to say is that this variant could come from anywhere now: Sweden, America, even China.

Anywhere someone who has been to England and then went to other countries and spread it to the population who have never been to England. ????

    sigh.....

    first detected in Kent, England,

Have a look at a map of England and the location of the county of Kent.

I will help you as much as I can to understand...

Look at transport networks, such as the M20 and southern/ eastern most stretch of the A20.

    Great... good work.

Now look at the M2 and southernmost part of the A2.

    Very good....

Notice anything? or would you like more help....?

I'll give you one more clue..... 2 of the largest ports in Europe, Rotterdam and Antwerp.....

Use your imagination... you'll get it I'm sure...

Still struggling? Next lesson we will talk about cross Channel traffic, the Port of Dover, and the freight shuttle service that uses the Channel Tunnel. Also how goods move from sea ports to their destinations. If we have time, maybe we'll go into the ports of origin of most of the container traffic that heads to Europe.

Please keep the 'D' hat on until then.

    Thank you. Class dismissed.

Didn't know it was invented in the US, but UK is the only country in Europe that seems to eat it, which tells me something.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spam_(food)

    Europe

    United Kingdom

After World War II, Newforge Foods, part of the Fitch Lovell group, was awarded the licence to produce the product in the UK at its Gateacre factory, Liverpool,[34] where it stayed until production switched to the Danish Crown Group (owners of the Tulip Food Company) in 1998.[35]

The United Kingdom has adopted Spam into various recipes. For example, recipes include Spam Yorkshire Breakfast, Spamish Omelette, and Spam Hash.[36] Spam can also be sliced, battered and deep-fried into Spam fritters.[37]

Me as a European had never heard about it until I arrived in Thailand, and read about the Brits considering it a delicacy.

Other suggested buying it if a nuclear strike was ever to happen, to take into the bomb shelters, as it lasts decades

I bought it once in Tesco, and threw away the tin before finishing it

SPAM similar to PEK pork (Polish). not just in Britain. Also package as different guises in other countries. Hardly considered a delicacy. handy to keep in the cupboard for when the decent stuff runs out, that's it. Corned beef however, that's a different story, lol.

Brixton Market? Chicken Feet and fish heads are very reasonably priced there due to lack of demand. My Asian friends tell me such item are cheaper in Brixton than back in Asia.

Yes. Correct. They are cheap due to lack of demand. Some other places can not give them away. At 10 pence per kilo, IMO, they are overpriced. See what I did there......

Seen the price of chicken feet in Thailand? They are about the same as chicken breast.

By the way, in Brixton the chicken have as many feet as in Thailand.

    thanks.

    point i was making was.....

thailand has prohibitive import taxes, which makes the concept of 'thai' produced smoked products economical, however demand would still be fairly low. thai's like their chicken feet you see. so production would still be fairly small scale. in europe, this stuff is produced in huge smoke rooms at industrial levels. making the price in the occident seem reasonable.

hope the LCD display is still working well BTW.
