Thailand Plans to Open Borders to 400,000 Foreign Laborers Next Month
zaZa9 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes , Thai rak Thai , but not when it comes to profits... So foreign workers ( probably Burmese construction workers ) brought the Delta variant in to Thailand when they were imported illegally 2 years back. They have trickled in ever since from my observations of a nearby camp growing and shrinking over and over. Its only taken 2 years to make their arrivals legal , AND regulated by law. -
New Thai education law will kill kids’ creativity, warn critics

Im a retired teacher. I wasnt aware of any 'creativity' being encouraged/ enhanced by the Thai School System as it exists now anyway. -
Thailand Plans to Open Borders to 400,000 Foreign Laborers Next Month

For those moaning about tourists being allowed return to here in Phuket , NOW its time to complain about overseas entries ! With the large unemployment rate currently in Thailand I have no idea why wealthy building companies employed by the Elite are allowed to import labour. Hmmm... then again ... perhaps I do ... -
SURVEY: Is it time to open schools to in-person learning?
zaZa9 replied to Scott's topic in Thailand News
In Phuket my Thai grand daughter was due to return to school full time today. She had been going part time. All students were tested last Thurs/Friday. Results arrived by email over the weekend that 8 had returned positive results . Almost all the students under 11 remain unvaxed. School is again closed. -

As I was leaving Samui I was told by Bangkok Airways staff , " You need to put www.phugetgo.com into your phone and download the ap before you fly ." I tried twice and a message said the site was down. I thought somebody would help me later , or on arrival at Phuket. Instead I met nobody else who wanted to check anything from me. AND I was amazed how busy Phuket Airport was !

What about repatriation of the money from a home sold by a farang ? Years back a friend had a hell of a time getting his money back out as I recall. Is it now just a matter of just transferring it ? -

Did anyone bother to inquire how the driver intended to get the girls on to Phuket through road blocks at the Sarasin Bridge , AND , presumably WITHOUT evidence of Antigen ( or any ) test ? They may well not have even been vaxed yet ! Couldnt be corruption there at the check point could there be ? If so , and coupled with People Smuggling its criminality of the highest order !

Anything not Chinese if you care to look into it. Here in Phuket , my Thai wife said yesterday that she has been contacted and she is to receive a 3rd vax next month. And she stated loudly that it wont be Chinese ! Its all good and well for the CCP to convince itself that its the first kid on the block , and that everything Chinese is bigger , better and cheaper. But they have done a great deal of subtle damage to the reputation of Chinese produce over Sinovac and Sinopharm amongst everyday people here in Thailand. To the point that Im observing a lot more sarcasm from Thais about , "Made in China" - even open ridicule. This is because they have had no choice but to consume Chinese in the form of a vax , and they cannot avoid the fact that the product is clearly lacking.

Cannot ! Phuket is an island and the authorities here can control inflows. Impossible in Bangkok. Reducing susceptibility with vax seems the only way. The leaders of both here and my own country severely let their people down by thinking their nations were winning and then underordered vax. But at least Thais are grateful and will embrace the idea vax. In Australia, where the PM also thinks he can part the waters and insert submarines, the builders labourers , not the skillset normally considered highly ranked in Scientific endeavour , have decided vaxes are , well , take your pic... poisons, chipped control mechanisms , something ' made up 'to deprive them of their jobs , and probably designed by Bill Gates ...who must have suddenly decided that his true calling is mixing cement so as to build his Towers solo after they are all dead! The biggest antivax noise and fluff I see here in LOS is farabg and sometimes I just despair...

100% AGREE ! I watch testing progressing in other countries and I Never see the swab inserted so deeply. Its ridiculous and unneccessary and could be counter productive in making so many being reticent to be tested again.
-
Your kidding ! The swabs I I have had have been pushed easily double the depth as shown - enough to make me and my partners eyes water and sneeze and bordered on painful ! Later I saw TV coverage of the public in Farangland swabbing themselves while sitting in their cars in Western tests centres and couldnt believe it. Thais are rarely over-zealous , but it seems they've all watched very different videos to those posted ! I wish the test centres here showed these to their staff.

Thanks for your post . It again only goes to prove all the purveyors of anti-sandbox misinformation that claim that people in your boat are immediately whisked off to two weeks of living hell in tent hospital do NOT know what they are talking about. Or are just making rubbish up. Good luck with your results.

SURVEY: Sandbox -- the way to go or just a failing PR stunt?
zaZa9 replied to Scott's topic in Thailand News
A very well balanced post and worthy of comment. I live very near Patong , and of those I know in business there , and admittedly they arent large or 5 star business owners , most have felt some benefits from Sandbox. Its more of a case of being able to reopen their doors , or not having to liquidate , than thriving , but its something none-the-less. The experiment has proven that tourists arriving from Nations experiencing high Covid infection rates CAN be welcomed. Further , the Sandbox visitors Ive met , have been very happy to be free to experience the outdoors and the beauty of this island while under a theoretical quarantine. Not one has complained about no alcohol in their resorts , in fact Ive heard the opposite , and that the savings on being allowed bring their own drinks poolside etc is welcomed. As for going out , one would have to be blind to not notice the crowded bar/restaurants with punters drinking rather rapidly from coffee mugs ... If those in charge could reduce the paperwork next , in particular getting rid the C of E , this initiative could do even better. -
Im constantly amazed as to why some people are even on a board dedicated to all things Thai. Do these odd bod 'members' trawl the net looking for things that they despise , then sign up so as to daily vent their spleens ? Is it some weird form of travel masochism ? So people dont like Thai food eh ? Are there Thai restaurants in Turkey ? Are you for real ? 555
