The Cambodian border hop I did today felt like getting a collaborative rogering from both sides, but it's done now. The CW part is more familiar and should be a doddle if only I can somehow suppress my apparently inherent swaggering and arrive as a normal person.

Ah, I didn't know that. Thanks. I had a look online and it says it takes 3 working days, but we're leaving in a van on Tuesday. I wonder if it can be done using the app there and then or whether there is still a traditional non-digital way but perhaps for an additional fee? 🤔

Cheers for the suggestion. However, I don't think I want to go back to the 1-year multi-entries. I got a bunch of those back in the 00s and 10s and back then we were cool with doing trips every 3 months, but now tend to travel a lot at certain times of the year and hardly at all at others (well, rainy season, basically). We have no issues with the extension, and have much of the stuff like photos ready from when we just went there. We just messed up with the money in the bank this time so were scrambling a bit and hoping for a convenient solution. Never had a home visit, incidentally. Noted about the visa start date. At this rate I guess it'll be starting March or April by the time we're doing the extension part again.

We have all the stuff from when we were going to apply for the 1-year extension, so it will be easy to update what needs to be updated (like TM.30, for example) and go within a week of doing the border run. We won't need to use the photos, right? Can hold onto those for the 1-year extension. :)

We wouldn't expect any issues with getting the non O and the 1-year extension if not for the money cock-up, but I just didn't know I could be visa exempt on the 30 days as a tourist and rock up at CW and apply for the single entry non O there. That's cool. We're in Talingchan, almost in Nonthaburi. Poipet is one I went to years ago and I recall it being extremely busy and a bit hectic. Much preferred Pong Nam Ron, but I'm open to any suggestions. Any decent non-Cambodia options?

Yes, and that's what prevented me getting more time to season the money, right? I don't quite get it because of course I've had a couple of 1-year extensions on this same visa so what's different with 60 days? I.e. why not 60 days, 1 year, 1 year, 60 days, 1 year for example? But that's the rules, it seems, and why I have to leave the country at this point, correct?

So I typically get a 1-year extension of my non-O based on marriage to a Thai. However, a cock-up means with a couple of weeks left on my current extension we had not had the required 400k in a Thai bank account for 2 months. I put the money in there and we were told over the phone to prepare all the docs as per usual and go to immigration at CW and see if they would be able to extend to give us more time to season the money. However, once there we were told this was not possible and that I would have to leave the country, the two options being apply for a new non-O outside of the country, wait the required time, then come back to CW and get the 1-year extension, OR do a border hop and come back in 30 days visa-exempt, go to CW and apply for the single entry non-O, then once the money has been in my account for the necessary time come back again and apply for the 1-year extension. Now, I think I prefer the second option, but I wasn't aware that you could actually apply within Thailand for a non-O visa in this way. My question is, is that definitely correct? My wife and I asked a couple more times to be sure I hadn't misunderstood and the lady insisted. Has anyone here done such a thing? Forgive my ignorance if this is totally commonplace. While I'm here, it's been so many years since I did a Cambodia border hop. Is there anything I should know? Anywhere I shouldn't go? A particular crossing that's good? I'm thinking we'll go to Pong Nam Ron, but is that still a good option from Bangkok? I recall the last place I went was small and quiet and I rather liked it, but I can't remember now which particular crossing it was. All my old stamps in old passports (last went in the mid-10s) seem to say Pong Nam Ron but I distinctively remember going to a different place the last time. Would regular mail really be so slow? Just to be doubly sure, I'm supposed to report by March 10th so surely I'm ok to go in person on Tuesday the 8th after coming back from a short trip out of Bangkok? It's a relatively speedy process?

That had crossed my mind yesterday, I must admit, but something I saw on one of the official pages had me (mistakenly, then) thinking something I'd already done had effectively served the purpose of reporting the first time. CW is my reporting office, presumably, living in Bangkok. This is my first ever 90-day report. Address definitely matches what I gave them before. I've submitted this time with my phone number as contact. I've dropped the building owner's name (had previously entered my father-in-law's name). Still put my middle name in. Another difference this time is that I put when my extension is up next year rather than the 10th March I'm to report by. Hopefully it was just that causing the rejection.

Rejected a second time. I'm wondering about the second date you have to put in. I've been putting in the date by which I have to report, the 10th of March, but should it be when my visa was valid until, or perhaps the date next year when my 1-year extension is up? Having seen earlier posts maybe I shouldn't enter my middle name? Maybe I shouldn't put my father-in-law's name at the top of the address part? Put my phone number in contact instead of the wife's? So many possibilities.

Got rejected. Judging by some of the replies on this thread I guess I just keep trying until it's accepted.

I'm doing the online reporting for the first time ever. My little bit of paper in my passport says 10th March so I'm thinking I have to report by no later than the 3rd. I made an account a couple of days ago no problem, submitted my details, and as of now it's still saying pending. Since I submitted a couple of days ago am I ok as far as the 7 days before thing? Do I just wait now, or if nothing has changed by tomorrow will I have to go report in person? I don't really understand the process tbh. I've got the TM47 pdf with my details on it that I received by email. Do I have to do anything with that?

Had another look and the card stapled in my passport has a date for reporting in March, which will be after I go to apply for and hopefully successfully get the 1-year extension. Presumably getting the 60 day (again, actually 81) extension started a new clock, therefore, and presumably I will get a new card stapled in my passport with a new date if and when I get the extension.

Gotcha, but that'll only be once I get the 1-year extension, right? Been over on a single-entry non-imm O, now got the 2 months (well, 81 days extension), and then once I'm (hopefully) on the 1-year extension come early next year then I'll need to get into the system online and start 90-day reporting, correct?

Just to follow up, I went to Div. 1 at CW last Thursday and I actually got 81 days. They basically said that with COVID as it is they were kind of keen to give ppl a little extra. I didn't have the TM30, but still got my extension, and my wife was told to do the TM30 on Monday. She paid the fine, sorted that, and cut the line back at CW as instructed to go straight to the woman we'd dealt with and give her the required doc. Very speedy! I also got a list of things required for the 1-year extension so I'll start sorting all that soon. The overall experience was unlike any other I've had with Thai immigration, just so incredibly helpful and friendly. Everyone we came into contact with was like that.

What are the docs needed for the 60-day extension when you're on the O visa through marriage? After nearly 20 years here I can't remember ever doing an extension on a non-imm O, only a B or maybe a tourist visa at Suanphlu. Haven't been to CW for any reason in yonks either. Do I have to take all the stuff I needed to get the visa in the first place? My 90 days single entry is up on the 11th and I'm planning to go to CW on the 9th. After a month of the 60 days I plan to apply for the 1-year extension. My 400k is sitting in my shiny new account as we speak and will have been in there 2 months by then. Despite having been here so long, I've a lot of new immigration experiences at this time, it seems (soon to have the online 90-day reporting, hopefully), and I still don't feel any more on top of it than I did when I was first here.

So aside from not getting into the bank until 1pm even though it was supposed open at 11am (manager got covid 2 days ago, bank was closed yesterday, and new manager took charge today), it all went smoothly at Kasikorn. Only needed our IDs and marriage certificates, I'm pleased to report.

My wife called Kasikorn and they said we needed to book an appointment at our branch (nearest is at The Crystal - had to book one appointment each, actually) and we just have to bring my passport, my wife's passport/ID card, and our marriage cert. originals. Hopefully it'll go down like that when we go on Tuesday.
