Hi All,
Just got back to BKK today after getting a multi non-O from Kuala Lumpur.
Showed marriage cert and accompanying paper work and bank statements showing I can support myself.
It was a horrible trip thanks to PAD and I spent far too long in KL ( I don't think the place has much going for it)
But I'm glad to be a free(ish) man again for 15 months!!

Quick question.
Going to KL on Wednesday, how many copies do I need of documents (wife's ID, marriage cert etc...) one or two?

Wondering how many 'Thai visa' PAD supporters have changed their opinions in the last week?
-
They have closed their office at Thapae Gate in Chiang Mai.
BTW I changed my tickets at Tesco On Nut BKK
-
Yes they are
I changed my tickets to and from KL yesterday had to pay an extra 700 baht as iy's more expensive to fly from Phuket.
Also got a refund on a ticket my father in-law booked from Ubon to BKK.

Hi All,
I currently have all my GBP's in HSBC singapore multi currency account. At the moment it's paying a whopping 1.75% (tax free).
Although I feel that my money is secure there I would like it to be making more interest.
I tried opening bank accounts in the UK last year but couldn't as I am non resident there!
Any ideas?
It all depends what you are keeping the money for. I have a foreign currency account at Bangkok Bnak in Silom, and I get 4%, (at the time of this posting!). I keep it on deposit there for any medical emergencies, and to satisfy the authorities regarding my retirement extension, so it is very useful for my individual circumstances. Good luck. Alan.
I thought money in a Thai bank held to satisfy visa requirements had to be in Thai baht?

Try one of the offshore banks in the Channel Islands. They are supposedly designed to cater to offshore residents. I have accounts with two different banks there and being non-resident has never been an issue (though you will need to prove you live overseas - usually with a letter certified by the British Embassy).
Can I ask which banks you use and what interest rate your getting? Do you feel these banks are safe in todays financial chaos?

They actually asked me for proof of B400K in a bank. I had the originals and photocopies (which they kept). FYI, my money is in HSBC in Bangkok. This is not a Thai bank.
If you're not sure what to take, take everything. As I have said in previous posts, it's a long way back to BKK for that piece of paper in your top drawer!!!
Ubonjoe: They WILL ask you for your house book (Tabien Baan).
is having your money in hsbc in bangkok (in baht) acceptable for immigration rule about having money in Thai bank account?

Hi All,
I am booked for a trip to KL end of this month and will apply for a non o based on marriage.
I don't have 800k in a thai bank.
Is it still possible they might issue a multi? I can show 200k+ in thai bank and 800k+ in overseas bank.
I am taking my wife. Is there anything else i can do to improve chances of getting a multi non o?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Please provide photographic evidence of PAD protesters being handed money. There are thousands of cameras there every single day and night. Shouldn't be hard for you anti PAD rumour mongers to provide. Also some one point me to the line the protesters stand in to get their money, I have many friends who go there and they will be upset to learn that everyone else is being paid except for them.
DP25 - spot-on -
Again - PAD supporters are not paid to be there - I don't know how many more times we'll be required to reiterate this?
Obviously you will both have to keep reiterating "this" until you stop beleiving that these people aren't PAID..........
Many people have family and freinds that have been paid or offered money from PAD!!!!!!
Not all protesters but a large number are PAID......
WAKE UP.

.
I can only conclude that Thailand has no clue about what democracy really means. Take for instance the fact that PAD says that 75 of the MP's must be appointed, and not elected. PPP is an incestuous gang of self appointed people who only strive their own politica ambitions and benefits.
Non of them has an eye for the real needs of the country.
STUPID,STUPID, STUPID.
I totally agree....both sides are as bad as each other.
I also think that many posters here don't realise how much PAD hate foreigners in Thailand!!

I have decided to register a company, get a w/p and have one year non o (based in my income)I only need a single entry I'll change for one year in BKK based on income...ThanksI have been following your case and wonder what route for proof of income you have finally chosen. In one thread you were toying with the idea of setting up a company, in another thread it was suggested that your wife could pay tax on an income of 40k per month, if necessary even on fictitious income.

Surely the purpose of this thread was to give advice on getting a visa rather than sightseeing. In my opinion, I think he would have more chance of geting a multi in KL rather than in Penang. In reading recent threads, I found KL to be more hospitable than Penang in multis. OK, Penang is more scenic than KL, but it's worth it if you can get the visa of your choice for 1 year and not just 3 months!!
I only need a single entry I'll change for one year in BKK based on income...Thanks

what documentation do I need for single entry non O (90 day)?
Do I need to show money in a Thai bank? if so how much?
Am I guaranteed a visa from Penang (more or less)?
-
OK I've changed my mind...Penang it is!!!
is it easy to get a 90 non o there?
do i get visa on arrival in malaysia?
-
I've done about 3 crossings at chong mek this year.
It has been upgraded a lot in the last couple of years and is an easy day out.
If you want a Thai to cross with you they will need to take copy of ID card and photo and apply for a day pass. The office is on the right, about 50 meters before the car park.

I have used Chaowattana as well. Many times. They're cool. Also a lady who has a counter inside the airport, but don't recall her or her company's name. I never had a problem with overcharges at either one, and I don't read Thai so couldn't have reviewed any contract anyway. Doubt you'll have a problem. Enjoy your trip!
i've used them too cheap and the car was solid...don't know how good they'd be if you crashed though?
they gave me a car no license or ID?
-
Thankx all....most useful will go for KL
I asume it's visa on arrival for me and the missus??
