  1. Aussiechick,

Thank you for pointing out it conflicts with the bike week. My nickname that I chose, mcyachty, is a combination of my 2 passions. One is riding motorcycles, and the other is sailing. So I feel compelled to suggest we agree with a date change.

As for Thaifan2, I would be very surprised if bringing your friend/partner is a problem. I feel we should accept everyone.

How about we move to the week following. Thursday 18th February. 6.30pm. Sailors Bar. Ocean Marina Yacht Club.

The change also works better for me as I arrive on the 12th. Can I have directions to the Ocean Marina Yacht Club. thanks

    LilBob

  2. I don't do any seminars or sales or ANY type of work in Thailand. It is purely for R&R for me & eventually retirement.

I am very aware of Imi Lichtenfelds system called Krav Maga. For your info he developed it in the 30s for Military use & variations of it are practised worldwide , in fact the last Tender for the Singapore Governments Correction Officers Riot Squad includes a requirement for that to be taught.

Seeing that Pepper Spray & Stun Guns are readlily available for sale at several places on Beach Road & in Bangkok & in Phuket , every thing else would be a moot point.

As far as physical altercations with Katoeys , dress them any way you want they are still men , & in my time on the streets there was NEVER any distinction between the sexes anyway when it came to any type of physical violence , that could get you killed & in some cases it did .

But, as to what this story is about , I wasn't there , so I cannot care.

Unless there is some law here that says I am forbidden to comment on reports , I will continue, & as I said earlier , there is No complaint, there is No charge , so therefore it doesn't exist. There are restrictions ,but, this is a Democracy isn't it?

Just UNFORTUNATE that media were at the Police Station & any incident , IF there was one ,Must have been Kosher because the allegations were against a guy I saw in the video wearing a "Police" uniform so he was probably assisting the Public. There is a big call for that after 2am on WS , because I have Never known for there to be ANY Police to be Patrolling at that time unless there is a call.

I just find it facinating that when a Police Chief states publicly that the Foreign Volunteers are purely TRANSLATORS & have NO POWERS , why there are these incidents ,that sure get very emotive .

NanLaew I am NOT selling anything here in Thailand & for your edification , there is No such thing as a Lie Detector , never has been & never will be. Media Terminollogy from a Gillette Razor Ad in 1938 (when the term was coined) doesn't make it fact nor does anyone calling certain Instruments that make it a Fact .

Fact , doesn't seem to be a thing of concern in Pattaya anyhow. Is it??

    :o

    Here's a novel idea

Lose the uniforms and equipment and replace them with civilian clothing and an ID tag with the words Police Translator worn around the neck.Maybe a baseball cap with the same words.

Additional training to include greeting people with the following "good evening I'm a police translator may I be of assistance" and a smile.

Sounds like a win/win to me.

Yeah I know it sounds naive but it works for me.

    Lilbob :D

  3. STAY AWAY!!!!! :D:o:D

The traditional Songkran is great, and done in good spirit, lasts one day elsewhere, a small amount of water, a bit of powder on the cheek a smile and the wish of good luck for you.

Not so Pattaya thats why I have changed my vacation time to May.

Be careful of what you say cos someone may wish Cancer upon you. See Previous thread.

  4. I am trying to get my head around a "Volunteer" in the middle of a "Money for Sex" argument in the early hours of the morning in a 'Red Light District' & just happened to be armed with

OC (pepper spray)..........................?????????????? (whether it was Ladyboys or not really is an aside)

Is that an S.O.P. (Standard Operational Proceedure) ???????????

for Volunteers who we are told are interpreters to carry weapons in the early hours of the morning off Duty????

Not much of this incident computes........interesting to me as an Integrity / Internal Investigator & Interviwer though......I may use it as an example of something or other in a class, once the end result is known.

Maybe a levity/comedic break on Weapon Retention , because I noticed in the video , one of the Katoeys had possession of the FPVs Pepper Spray container which appeared quite dented. Suggesting a struggle of reasonable physical force !!!

Or a 'death grip' by someone in great fear experiencing the autonomic nervous system

So Ltcol, Do you have to come into Thai Visa sprouting off about being the big Police Captian from Western Australia because nobody else will talk to you, or you have a bit of time off to try and sell your dodgy equipment, so you thought you would just come in and sprout off about SOP's and ABC's & waffle on with that type of thing. I hope you have a secondary employment approval for this sideline quirk of yours.

Do you feel powerful as an Integrity Internal Investigator & is that maybe the reason no other police other than your other internal affairs gerbals will speak to you?

You seem to do alot over there in WA, running the Weapons Training courses as well.....crikey, how can they do without you while ur busy running around Pattaya with ur dodgy electronic devices?

Please note, Sir that theres absolutely no disrespect intended towards you alleged rank :D:D If you are the big Captain over there, I'm surprised to see you out on the street, where the real people are, the real criminals AND the real Police.....you must feel a little bit scared?

Perhaps when you retire, heavens forbid :o , if the WA Police can do without you, maybe you could come to Thailand and show the Pattaya Police how its done?

you are kidding me, right? :wai:

I have never been a member of WA Police , you should not make assumptions & I believe that I an allowed to make observations & I do not make any judgements nor criticize. Impossible for anyone to do so without ALL coroberrated facts & I certainly don't have them. I gather you must.

By the way , there is no such rank as Captain in the WA Police Service. But, please don't let fact get in the way of your story or personal tirade.

I enjoy robust interaction , but biased drivel is not cohesive ,nor is it fair comment of an incident that has been reported.

So, assuming you have ALL the facts & all I have done is throw out some sensible queries , perhaps with your superior knowledge you may want to share your info, unless of course , it is subjudicial.

Any time you want a Sensible Interaction , please PM me . If you are so concerned what I do or have done , ask , don't guess , or assume.

    :D

Okay Brigadier, back to you SOP's now, you need to shine for that next promotion

So how long have you been a closet wanna be internal investigator for then? You did mention that in one of your brags, I mean threads, didnt you?

Please excuse me about thw WA ranks, I forgot they replaced Captain with the rank of Commodore

To quote a famous Englishman called Oscar Wilde :Sarcasm is the highest form of wit but the lowest form of humour"

Oh by the way he was accused by the Marquis of Queensbury of being a sodimite Oscar sued lost and died in poverty in France

Oscar Wilde was Irish, wsn't he?

Yes I think you are right and I was wrong, I forgot that part as the court case was held in England, the Marquis was English and the actor who played Oscar was English (Robert Morley). and it was a Brit movie

I apologise to all Irish who I have offended. I'm of Irish decent myself

I've now read all the comments on the news article as well as all the thread and would like to offer the following observations.

    1. anyone walking on the beach side of beach rd. at2.30 in the morning is either

    1.1 drunk

    1.2 cruisin

1.3 looking for trouble (he was armed)

    1.4 stupid

    1.5 ALL OF THE ABOVE

    1.6 a tourist

I have received a lot of analdotal(spelling) info. from persons involved in managing bars that ladyboys are popular so maybe it's the streetwalkers of both genders who are a problem(many warnings on various sites or forums warn about the true females).

Forget the homophobia for a moment and let's get back to the original topic.

I'm still a little confused about which organisation this dude belonged to so how about the leaders of both these organisations stateing whether it is appropriate for there members to be armed whilst off duty.

Let's here from the dude cocerned if he doesn't know about this thread/forum some of his mates should tell him.

Let's here from his mates who saw fit to appear at the cop shop to back him up and why.And was their presence agreed to or condoned by the Boss. Also why the uniforms

Speaking of the boss what stops the escalation of armament, do knuckedusters batons and i hope not but knives and guns follow. They claim credit for there organisations so it's about time they draw a line and not let there people step over it. LET'S HEAR FROM THEM. sACK PEOPLE IF NECESSARY.

What police force in the world would allow the alleged assailant interview his victims.

Why the black shirt uniforms, firstly they are hot and secondly they have very unsavoury connetations ie Gestapo and Nazis who placed homosexuals, russians and jews amongst others in concentration camps.

I have twice had to report thefts to the cop shop on Soi 9 (30+ vacations in Pattaya) the 1st time I was fortunate to encounter a police officer who spoke english, the second time I took a english speaking Thai friend at no time did I encounter a police farang translator.

I personally don't like ladyboys but I despise thugs and Bullies :P

    RANT OVER

  5. in jomtien complex. mai pang motorcycle shop has a laundry and a storage next to it. same owner. she has been there 10 years already, very important, since you would like your things back later I belive. she is very honest and speaks fluent engish, grew up in a convent

and no, i dont have any financial interest, just trying to help you both

Tanks for the helpful replies, I should have done a search before I posted, :o evereyone has been very helpful

I feel so stupid but thanks again :D

  6. have been asked by a moderator to assist them in tagging topics, however I don't understand how I got many examples but still don't understand what I'm to do :D This is a trial by me which I've most likely stuffed up :o Ant advise would be appreciated

lilBob :D I already know I'm dumb and semi computer illiterate so step by step please :D

  7. Anyone know where I can find one in the South Pattaya/ Jomtien area?

I used to go the lady with the sewing machine at the junction of Thepprasit and Thappraya Roads but she doesn't seem to be there anymore.

I don't want to know about Indian tailors - just need someone handy with a needle who will patch my pants!

I was going to ask about a 'dressmaker' but reckoned that would have people asking if I was into transvestism. :o

There is a lady who is set up on Soi Yamato who has taken up the legs of trousers for me good work and cheap, her hours seem to vary but you will see her sewing machine on your left as you walk from 2nd to Beach rd. :D PS I like the Sunnies look too.

  8. I know you can get all sorts of free (so called) advice, but you can get better here on Thaivisa, I find.

The 'experts' who are supposed to give free advice on Sundays when they meet, are really only looking for punters.......and the Speakers are either Boring as hel_l or trying to

sell their products or services.....The SS Sausage Co showed a slide show of different types of sausage that went on for ever!

You pay a few Bht to get in and they 'give' you a free 'iffy' breakfast.....

It's obviously a nice little earner for the everpresent Niels Colov.

To quuote a conversationI heard last year.

"what do you think of the Expat Club"

Answer "aplace to goto learn how to save 10 baht.

After attending the comment was made "you were wrong it's how to save 5 baht'

Some frequent a bar I do and I've seen them buying water and adding their sachets of powder to create Gatorade rather than buy it direct from yhe Bar/

And sitting there I have overheard conversations and they are BORING

I won't bother I get better advice from my mates.

    Just my 2 bahts worth

Sorry if I have offended anyone

  9. Now that the Thai Government has admitted that the world economy is worse than they expected and that it will probably be worse in Thailand than the 1997 crash and no improvement in sight for at least 3 years.

The Russian tourists are down 80%, the bike week has finished, the U.S. Navy and Marines have gone, the LPGA Golf is over and it is the end of an alleged high season where staff are being laid off everywhere in Pattaya. :o Seems we are in for a long hard stretch.

    Lat's see

    1. the Thai Baht is to strong and Thailand being one of the lagest exporters of rice in the world. Others will seek to buy their rice elsewhere.Slightly off topic but relevent read on.

2.Airport Fiasco will discourage tourism (shooting oneself in the foot is a good analogy)

3.Buying power of foreign currencies dropping by one third.

4.The Thai habit of losing customers, up the prices (profit). Most businesses would drop prices to encourage custom.

5.Other places in SE asia being more competative. (cheaper).

6.Due to the strenght of the Baht Thailand isn't cheap anymoree.g. Burgerking and subway cheaper in OZ.(don't eat Thaifood- to spicey

    7.Better beaches elsewhere

CONCLUSION- Unless there is a devalueation of the Baht Pattaya will suffer. As will all of Thailand

Actually I've met a number of the old bill (english c0ps) in Pattaya many of whom drink in bars with english persons who have "form" they actually seem to get on OK after all it was many miles away some off the people I have met in Pattaya with sometimes self admitted illegal activities and those I have met act as gentlemen. :P

I don't really know how to commenton this we will never hear the true story, maybe the can was now empty and had been discarded

  13. Yes, but only when used in conjunction with the other sanctioned activity for farang police volunteers....

proceeded to grab their hair and use his knee to attack them.

So their statement reads, apparently? I wonder what the fly on the wall would of seen?

Apparently. let's not forget it was the thais who made the complaint and the black shirt then decided to done his so called uniform and ring his mates for moral(intimidation) support :o

  14. I have experienced that in Southern California , where in one instance I had a Spanish speaking Officer & i don't habla espanol very well , but, I asked directions in Walking St of 2 fpvs the other night in English & neither understood English....isn't the idea of Foreign PVs to be able to converse with us Farang????

Not a criticsm , purely a factual observation

    :o

Not conversant in English nor Thai? sheesh... it's worse than I imagined.

btw, to equate to the Pattaya volunteers, was the Southern California police volunteer a Mexican national?

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE REPLYING THERE WAS NO SUGGESTION THAT THESE pvf COULDN'T SPEAK THAI IT WAS ONLY ENGLISH THEY COULDN"T SPEAK.

Oops I left caplock on sorry didn't mean to shout :D

  15. pepper spraying the thieving katoey hookers on the beach road ???

somebody give the man a medal please.

...... and have him come to bangkok to do some roach control along sukhumvit.

Would you please reread the report, there was no sugestion of theft it was a negotiation between sex workers. Who were assaulted (2 thai nationals assaulted by a foreign national). :D

The foreigner was not in uniform and armed with a weapon. :o

It was the Thai nationals who made the complaint to the police.

And the person on whom the complaint was made tried undue influence by appearing at the cop shop not only in his uniform but needed his mates for support :D

Sounds to me like Poofter bashing.

I'm sure he will get away with it this time but will the thais trust the PVF in future? Many farangs don't trust them.

By the way this is a Pattaya forum it is not necessary to report your bitches here try the Bangkok Forum.

I am a visitor to Thailand on a regular basis and won't carry a weapon cos it is illegal and as a guest in the country I try to comply with mine hosts rules. This is something many visitors forget, yes we are all guests here in some form or another.

I have read this entire thread. and feel compelled to reply to some of the other respondents.so keep tuned in.

By the way I have had no contact nor am I interested in Ladyboys or PVF.

My personal opinion only I think you are a BIGOT

  16. A friend of mine has in the past has stored my luggage (a suitcase) for me. But due to the education requirements he has to return to Farangland.

I visit Pattaya every 4-5 months and am looking for alternatives, (ie renting a storage facility).

By storing my gear it enables me to travel light and still bring stuff over for friends.

Any advice or info. would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    lilBob :o

  17. Must admit I'm same as many others, a thousand bars to choose from and I frequent around six.

Do not particularly like those Irish theme pubs. Why somebody would fly halfway round the world to Thailand to sit in an air conditioned Irish style bar beats the sh1t out of me but then different strokes for different folks. I do go in one or two occassionally to meet up with friends, recently it's been Jamesons and Shennigans but for me they aren't my idea of R&R.

Beer bars are more my style but the three I use most are Nids (next to Tims), Three Ladies (soi 13/2) and Tuks (soi 13/1) purely because I am long time friends with the owners. Wonderful bar (corner soi 13/1 and 2nd road) I like for a morning naam sodahs while I read the Bangkok Post sometimes going to a breakfast beers depending on how late "breakfast" is or how much I need a heart starter.

Gogo bars, there are only two I use, TQ's (if you need directions you aint been to Pattaya) and Tims (2nd road).

Last trip I took to having lunch and a few beers in the afternoon at the Pattaya Beer Garden and must say it is a very pleasant place to spend a couple of hours watching the tide come in. Visited early one evening and it was pretty quiet but it is the low season.

No R&R to Pattaya is ever complete without a visit to Jenny Star Bar to witness the dance styles of those two TV stalwarts <names withheld pending payment of hush fund> plus the antics of the passing Korean and Chinese tourists.

Last time I was there I thought "right I must get out and about and get in some new places" but after meandering around a couple of hours just found myself back at the usual haunts. I don't much like enclosed places as I enjoy my favourite pastime of people watching so choose places from which I can see the street.

I don't agree with all your suggestions as follows

TQ- always seems very crowded and drink prices expensive ie Jack and Coke 120Bht

Tim Bar- They use Thai size measures for their shorts which short changes the drinker as we are all used to full measures which is not the Thai measures. When I order a Jack and Coke I want to taste the Jack. When I visit Tims (only to accompany friends) I stick to beer.

On a positive note I totally agree that the Pattaya Beer Garden is a good spot (i'd actually say great). I like the location, view over the bay (at times nice sea breezes) good drink prices, good food, the music is played on 4 large video screens and at a volume that allows conversation.

I don't frequent walking street It's to crowded to many drunks about and the mere sight of those Police Volunteer wanke_rs offend my sensitivities also to many tourists.

I have no interest in any businesses in Thailand nor any particular bitch on any particular establishment.

    My 2 bahts worth

    Regards to all lilBob :o

  18. One of the reasons for my starting this post is that I tend to go to the same places - not sure if it is genetic or laziness, could be genetic laziness :D

Now I am starting to wander around more as I get to know more places and how to get home afterwards :o

Last weekend I went to one of my usual bars for a couple of beers and to watch the Australian Football (AFL) - watched the first half and was told by the owner that ALL the televisions would be changed over to the opening match of the English Premier League. Ok my thought was leave one tv on the AFL for the last half and switch the rest but apparently that wasn't allowed.

I check binned and walked out - next thing I found that so had another six Aussie expats who didn't know where to go to see the game. Now I know there are plenty of Oz bars in Pattaya but we ended up at the Boxing Roo on Third Road opposite Xcite nightclub. The bar will probably not fit into the top ten bars in Thailand but we had a great time there. Good fun with the footy and then stayed to watch the Rugby Union between NZ and South Africa.

After that I wandered down to Walking Street and popped into seem Lam Morrison play. Watched the first band and enjoyed them - good stuff and stayed for Lam. After that things seemed to go down hill and I will stop right now :D

    Cheers

    CB

For sport try the Clinic bar on Soi Yamato they have 5 TVs and use a projector screen for big events

(only at night it's to bright for the projector to work properly in daylight), the owners/managers are only to happy to set up a TV for any specific sporting event if it's broadcast in Thai land I've watched Aussie Rules and Rugby League there whilst others watched English Premier League.

Derek and Mel are nice guys Too.

    Hope this helps

    lilBob :D

  19. Any dentist recommended in Pattaya? Have to get minor gum work, any experience with local dentists, thank you very much.

APC dental surgery Soi5 Beach rd excellent work well equiped surgery, I went there at the suggestion/recommendation of my expat friends who live in pattaya. I've had extensive work there and am completely happy. Good price to.

  20. Long legs, long hair, smoking hot, rich, generous, honest, loyal, loving, naughty but nice, an appreciation for middle-aged man, smart enough to have intelligent conversations and witty repartee, but not wise enough to realise they could do a lot better.....

Possession of real estate (urban and coastal), a luxury cruiser suitable for fishing, diving, etc, and the ability and willingness to successfully convince my wife why I need to open my life to such a lady would be advantagous.

Ladies of any race who meet the basic criteria can apply.

    I'm sure I've forgotten something.

Yeah you forgot to request a picture of the cruiser :D

  21. Hi fellows, tourist farangs,ex pat farangs, vietnam vets..I will return to Thailand(live in Canada)for the 5th time this summer. My question is,"what type of Thai lady do you prefer?"I tried the butterfly routine, bar girls, freelancers, etc, but found that personally very depressing after the deeds were done and was back home.As a result,I purposely searched for a "good lady",and found a great one with a good heart and a good family.Basically I tried to think more with the big head, and so far so good.I am not judging bar girls(or you),as generally they are just trying to get by,support their family a little, and that is admirable in general. My fiance insists no sex before marriage, and while many of you are laughing your heads off, here is another reason to laugh some more farang..she is 37 and I am 51.Some farang make fun of me when they hear that..my bpen rai khrap, nid noi lek noi khrap,as everyone is entitled to think as they wish. One farang(older than me) said all his friends would laugh because they NEVER date anyone over 30..another one said he has 10 bar girl girlfriends. In a weak drunken moment he admitted he would rather have one good one..but what is a good one? Each to their own, right? One man's pleasure is another man's poison..or one man's lady is another man's man.Certainly the bar girls will give you what you want the first night, and the punters can exchange notes.I remember one Vietnam vet lamenting.."piss me off" he said,"I had a 9.5 last night but my friend had a 10".Personally,I now go for the heart first, but looks is very important to me too, whether your choice is a bar girl, ladyboy,or ultra-chaste lady, like my future wife. Her situation is typical..her first thai boyfriend in University fooled around on her as she wouldn't put out quickly enough,so

he got married, then wanted her back..sound familiar?

Personally I would like a lady who is an orphan with no brothers or sisters and not materialistic,

    No kids

Financially independent (or filthy rich) :D

Good cook Good in public :D and bad (in a good way) in bed :o

Yeah I know I'm dreamin' but dreamin' is good

  22. I will still feel the same way in 10 years time.

Um .. you can't know that you will be here in 10 years.

With this sort of logic why bother get up in the morning, there's a good chance that you won't make it to lunchtime.

    Brutal? They're opinions ..

It's reality. The mortality rate in a retirement community made up of people aged 60+ is considerably higher than that of the general community.

Even though I am not over 60 years old I must be considered by you to be in 'denial'.

Add to your list "I don't want to be surrounded by old farangs".

I like babies, young children, teenagers, young adults, middle aged & old people. I like being around all these age groups, I like talking to them & socializing with them.

That's the beauty of Thailand - four generations living under one roof.

If you want to live in a 'retirement village' - good luck you & I wish well.

For myself I have zero interest or desire to live in a 'retiremant village' & I have given my reasons.

I agree I don't want a retirement home environment, what's wrong with hiring a live-in nurse/cook/maid or 2 all in one to look after you in your dodage and for anything else on offer, maybe purchase a car and hire a driver on a casual basis if she can't drive.

there would be many middleaged Thai women who could look after in "invalided farang' very well and would think it a good job.

Or hire a ex bargirl well past her prime(well maybe) and have a nurse to make house calls.

Just a couple of alternatives I'm sure there are many more options other than a retirement home watching others dieing and just waiting your turn :o

Personally it won't happen to me I intend to be shot by a jealous husband at the age of 87 :D

Hey with viagra it's possible :D
