  1. If you're able to do it,bus from Rayong to NongKai,many every day, don't know the best place, for you, to take it on the way.

Bus to the border.Visa, bus to Vientiane.Thai Consulate in the morning, visa the next afternoon.

    Your paper must be adequate!

Repeat for the return.35$ for Lao visa,1500Baht for travel+living expenses.

A warning:With the SEA Games on Vientiane is full of people this week and the next.

  2. The actual reason is it requires a home country nationals time to provide the service and with overseas expenses that comes to a very high hourly rate. It is not cheap operating and staffing Embassies/Consulates.

Thenlet the govrnments save millions of $ on the needless trips they make every week. With full staff and party goers of course!`

Not every time they have to go to the U.N.O.or to a really important meeting! :)

  3. The above is meant to be positive also is it ?

Your post sums you up nicely.

It also sums up why there is a lot of attitude with Immigration relating to certain applicants.

Sadly it also has an overall effect on those of us who try to make things better for everyone.

    FYI

I try to be friendly with everyone and try to understand the reason why, even for sarcasm and cynical, negative comment, but sometimes it is very difficult.

We as visitors to Thailand and in particular members of Thai visa, do our best to improve relations with the various authorities, especially those that can have an influence on how we are treated in general terms.

The mods do their best also and work very hard to assist all who need help and advice, sometimes it must be a thankless task, but like Immigration, they soldier on regardless.

You appear to be very cynical of the very institutions that do, in most cases try their best to assist us.

It must be very difficult for the Immigration officers, having to put up with unfriendly applicants and trying to do their job in a friendly manner.

Most of us have witnessed these incidents and in my case anyway, felt ashamed of them, and felt sorry and sympathetic towards the officers who have to put up with it.

The tourist police incidently, also go out of their way to be friendly and helpful.

    Note

You wouldn,t want to meet me in person, that,s for sure, I speak as I find, as I have always done.

Life is to short to be wasted on negatives.

Open your eyes, engage your grey matter and enjoy the many positives Thailand has to offer.

    marshbags :D

A last thing, then the argument is closed (for me at least)

Must be a very bad place where you(and some others)come from. :)

  4. As for a certain member who always seems to find a way to post sarcastic comments........try being positive and helpful like other members......... for a change !!!!! :)

    marshbags :D

Falls you mean me,(not many other on this thread)I tought I WAS being positive, thanking for a useful information.

I'll verify it myself next Wednesday, sorry,no blank check, not here, not anywhere.

If you are part of that group that is "oh sooo friendly with the Imm Police,or a voluntary with the Tourist Police in Udon, and

a drinking bud of them, well, hope to never meet you.

  5. Not upset my a**. It's obvious to anyone reading your posts that you angry, resentful, jealous, envious, annoyed, bitter and sour over

It's my business what visa I want to get, and I have good reasons why I'm happy with tourist visas right now.

Thailand is a 3rd world country, there's no doubt. What would you call it?

Thailand is a newly indistrialised country, a developing country. To call it a third world country simply isn't true.

Developing Country is a much nicer way to call a backward Country=Third world Country. :D

About taxes look at the(Thai) statistics, compared to the first world, about the amount of income taxes versus VAT,customs, lottery and on.

You may ask any expat too if he/she would like to pay taxes in Thailand (as a NON resident)or in his/her home country! :):D

  6. Udon Thani has opened their new Imm Office at the Udon Int Airport. Follow along the front of the terminal buildings to the end...last door.

Only doing 90 day reports at the moment as only just opened, should be fully operational within 2 - 4 weeks (they say)

    Staff very friendly..

Well, someone else told me they were opening on the road to Khon Kaen, don't remember the name of the place.

Before it was talk about opening in the Police Station,Muang or Provincial,so long nothing sure.

Don't hold your breath, the record for Udon is really bad. :)

  7. Because we are all on a short leash and reporting every 90 days constantly reminds us who is holding that leash. Thailand is a hierarchical society and part of our place here is to be required to report every 90 days. No, I am not whining. Yes, I think its a silly requirement.

A logical requirement would be to be required report when your address CHANGES and only when it changes. Too logical.

    Right,to the first comment.

    T.I.T. to the second.

  8. This is really comfusing to me, I wasnt tying to sell anything nor promote a contractor. I made the changes in the house for the long term. I used laid off craftsman from the financial crunch. Good for them and me.

Photos takes a long time to open. But. that doesn't make spam, trying to learn how to make them easier to opne maybe less photos per entry. I don't know maybe someone has a good idea. I use photos whre I can makes a more intersting read I believe.

I looked up the definition still can't see that I was spamming I would like the other person views maybe I can learn something as well.

    Spamming defintion}What is spam?

Spam is flooding the Internet with many copies of the same message, in an attempt to force the message on people who would not otherwise choose to receive it. Most spam is commercial advertising, often for dubious products, get-rich-quick schemes, or quasi-legal services. Spam costs the sender very little to send -- most of the costs are paid for by the recipient or the carriers rather than by the sender.

There are two main types of spam, and they have different effects on Internet users. Cancellable Usenet spam is a single message sent to 20 or more Usenet newsgroups. (Through long experience, Usenet users have found that any message posted to so many newsgroups is often not relevant to most or all of them.) Usenet spam is aimed at "lurkers", people who read newsgroups but rarely or never post and give their address away. Usenet spam robs users of the utility of the newsgroups by overwhelming them with a barrage of advertising or other irrelevant posts. Furthermore, Usenet spam subverts the ability of system administrators and owners to manage the topics they accept on their systems.

Email spam targets individual users with direct mail messages. Email spam lists are often created by scanning Usenet postings, stealing Internet mailing lists, or searching the Web for addresses. Email spams typically cost users money out-of-pocket to receive. Many people - anyone with measured phone service - read or receive their mail while the meter is running, so to speak. Spam costs them additional money. On top of that, it costs money for ISPs and online services to transmit spam, and these costs are transmitted directly to subscribers.

One particularly nasty variant of email spam is sending spam to mailing lists (public or private email discussion forums.) Because many mailing lists limit activity to their subscribers, spammers will use automated tools to subscribe to as many mailing lists as possible, so that they can grab the lists of addresses, or use the mailing list as a direct target for their attacks.

    I know you are confused.That's why I said:please, and Thank you. :D

Now please look :clogging ! :)

  9. This has ben a long time coming had to get the money together. We are down to the final stage now. They are installing the built in closet.

I look forward to getting together again.

May you ,please, stop the SPAM,ray23?Thank You very much! :)

  10. I heard a rumour that from tomorrow 1-10-09 a farang can have his/her name put on the blue book along with their Thai spouse as 50-50 co-owner and it's not going to cost anything.

Anyone know any truth about this??

    Thanks

In addition to having the yellow booklet issued, I was in the blue booklet for several years. In fact, Immigration (in BKK and not in Nan) insisted this year on my name being included in the blue booklet otherwise they would not have given me the annual re-entry visa I requested. Yes, it did not cost anything to include my name in the blue house booklet four years ago. Whether you are a 50/50% co-owner - in the case of divorce - depends on your signature, attesting that you gave the house to your partner as a gift during the house purchase formalities at the land office.

Sorry, don't understand how you can be on the Blue Tabien Ban.I thought it's only Thais.

Falls you have PR or are Thai, please excuse me.

  11. You are not talking about a visa but an extension of stay for marriage. And yes; the normal requirement is to do this during the last 30 days of your current permitted to stay time.
I would presume that they want to see every page that has withdrawals and deposits in it and not the empty ones.

As I said many times already, every Imm. Officer follow some hint from his superiors. On a bad day he/she even believe to have God like power

to do what he/she want.NOT true, take them to task and the balloon flops.

Are you ready to find a fiendish Officer the next time?

I am,and so long didn't draw the short straw.Up to you(as the ladies in Pattaya used to say). :)

  12. It's an old and recurring topic. Can understand if related to 1st ,1 year Thai driver licence.

If you're staying longer in Thailand, then you have a visa extension,to need the5 Years DL.

Either you own a condo or you have a house rented,in your name.Well, maybe not,but that's courting trouble.

Then, the yellow Tabien-Ban is the solution,Cheap, fast, available at the Amphur.

If your Land lord/lady isn't ready to help, find a nicer place. Can't understand why so few people use this way.

  13. well about having 400,000 baht in your account before geting married to a thai girl is absolutely true and still more to do, not just the 400,000 baht alone, your girlfriend should tell you everything because she know it all very well.

My advice to you is about the thai bank account, you can get a thai bank account with Bangkok bank without the residence or work permit but this is possible only at the bangkok bank head office at silom, all you need to present is your passport and a driver's license. also if your girlfriend really wanna help she can take you to karsikorn bank and tell them to open an account for you to save your money which is very possible because my friend is using a tourist visa and his girlfriend took him to karsikorn bank and opened a savings account for him without the bank asking him for anything other than his passport copy not minding his tourist visa but i recommend Bangkok Bank head office to you. give it a try, i've been there and i know what am talking about.

    Good luck!

Well, a Thai GF that knows very well the monetary requirements for a visa (O or R) is scary :)

The Silom BK Bank head office is very efficient, but many of us live outside Bangkok, and the branches aren't so well staffed.

Some can be,personal experience,a pain in the A**

    Kasikorn Bank? Average.T.i .T. :D

  14. For a job in Thailand you will need a good education. A Rajabhat has university states, but as most Thai universities can not be compared with a university in the West. A good Thai univerity is much more expensive. Like Chiang Mai University or Mahidol in Bangkok.

You might get better answers about where to study if you tell what she wants to study.

Thanks, Mario. Unfortunately on her parents side (me), I cannot afford to send her to a top university in Thailand. Unfortunately, also, on the daughter's side, she has no clue as to what she wants to do. She just wants as easy a way out (away from parental and family control) as possible... If she were back in the village, she would get married within a half a year. Her ideal is for someone else to look after her. :)

Then any rajabhat will be fine. It is not up to our western standerds, but it is up to Thai standerds and accepted everywhere.

For any job in Thailand a degree is important and for many unfortunate kids this is a good option to get a chance to a better education and job they otherwise wouldn't have had.

Add to that the fact that she has 4 years of living experience abroad and hopefully speaks and writes English very well, she should be able to get a nice job. In future she could always try to go for her masters at a good university.

Had the same problem with the stepdaughter, not good enough for a first class Uni.Frequented Udon Rajabhat, had her (easy) degree,

that in Thailand is a necessity, now,as an adult young woman, she can make her choices.

Must admit I was relieved,my own daughter education costs were horrendous! :D

  15. Is there a visa bus service from Udon to Vientiane?

    Who do I call? Visabusers?

    cheers :)

    Grumpy......

At Udon airport,minibuses,1-1/2 hours you are in Vientiane.

At the bus Station,1Km from train Station(songtheu, samlor) the International Thai-Lao bus.

Many departures every day,but no reserving.

For the bus ticket you need to have the Lao Visa already, for the minibus it's optional.

Have a good trip,Vientiane these days is lively (the S.E.A. games, you know) :D

  16. hello guys.
