  1. If you meet the requirements with your Embassy letter that should be all that is required. You should have bank book available (especially if marriage extension) and ATM receipts but bank letter should not be needed.

Except for Nong Khai immigration. For my one year extension back in April I was required to submit a letter from the bank along with copies of savings passbook. This was in addition to the embassy letter and other required documents.

.....and you can add Kapcheong Immigration to the list as well.

I did my extension late last month and asked before hand what was required this time around.

All the usual stuff plus as listed above by tutone.

And it's all quite boring, the various Immigration Offices should know, and follow, the (Thai) rules! :)

  2. So I went to the Nongkhai Immigration office today and had a few questions.

About showing the housebook for a new ret visa. When you don’t have the housebook (the owner lives far away or abroad) you can also show

    1. Copy of his/her Thai ID,

    2. Copy of the housebook in which the lessor is stated as owner or buyer, but not as user or tenant,

    3. A “Notification form for house master (etc) where alien had stayed”,

    4. A list called “Name of aliens in residence” with my name and passport number,

and all those signed by the house master.

Fortunately I can also show a letter from the Landoffice in which is stated that I rent the house for 10 years and that I have paid the registration tax for that.

About the income statement from the Royal Netherlands Embassy. The Immigration in Nongkhai demands that this paper will be verified at Chaeng Wattana.

That is disappointing but since I have just a few weeks before the next application I will grin and bear it.

But I will certainly contact the Embassy about this (well, I did per email) because it is strange that a rule that has been cancelled by the Headoffice in Bangkok still is valid in Nongkhai.

    So I let you know.

Every week some new requirements from Nong Kai Immi office! :)

  3. Contrary to popular western media common perception, and the perception of many farang in LOS, the VAST MAJORITY of Thai women are absolutely NOT "on the take"..in other words..they are GENERALLY NOT out to : fleece the farang of his money / rip him off / aid in a motorcycle helmet scam / cut off his junk (just kiddin' on that one) / extract as much money as possible from MR Farang. The Thai women I am alluding to comprise the 10's of millions of regular everyday Thai women from all walks of life. On the contrary..Mr Farang may have a hard time MATCHING their JAI DEE nature. They want to give as much or more BACK TO YOU as they receive..be that LOVE or material things. THATS why Thai women make some of the best wives in the world. My wife had to go back and forth to BKK several times in the visa process for various things and business as well..probably at least 10 times..with or without me, she always insisted on taking the over night bus instead of the airplane ( airplane one hour, bus 12 hours..and a pit stop at CHUMPOON at 1 am with music blaring.. just as you are finally "asleep" :D ) She has done this at least 8 times on her own the last year. I try to tell her to "take the plane..its not expensive..never mind..tam sabaii..my bpen rai..karunaa!!" but she always says the same thing..." I take bus teraaak..I need you SAVE YOUR MONEY" :) The ironic and sad thing is that I have met a few Thai 20 something female students studying in Vancouver,Canada on student visas ( I work in education) who say they felt the need to lie about their Thai nationality to locals, to avoid the sometimes scorn that they receive as a result of the western media perception, reinforced by many..

    As a Troll,very successful.

Every time you write some bull****,lots of poster feel the need to answer.

It tells a lot about the intelligence level of the forum! :D

  4. Sorry to jump in.

Does anyone know the current price of the VOA at the border for Laos?

I am a UK citizen, and i can see on the Laos Embassy website that in Bkk it is 1400baht.

Is it worth making the saving and getting it in Bkk, or sorting it out at the boarder?

    BKK=1400 baht

    Border=1500 Baht,or35U.S.$

200-300 Baht to save,at today exchange rates.Up to you. :)

  5. What a load of bull***A young man lost his life, not on a bike,on a confrontation with others young thugs. My regrets.

The family were offered 8 saeng, more as the going price, for the loss.

Lots of posts about how bad the crime is in other(more civilized?)countries.

Do you understand we are in LOS,not in Shangry la?

Many things are same as at home, only different.

Stay at home at night, double lock the door,go on TV and whine! The vampires are right out of your door! :)

  6. You should get the photos done before you leave Bangkok.

That is taxi fare. It is not a fixed price so you will need to bargain to get the better price..

From the bridge to the embassy -- OK, so 200 baht is the (good?) taxi car price. How about for a tuk tuk to take you?

If you can bargain, under 100 Baht.

Or take the bus to the morning Market,20 Baht,Samlor to Consulate,40 Baht. :)

  7. My GF's reaction to this ( With all respect ) : We don't understand the Thai way. It's normal to give the family money or gold in return for their daughter, it secures them for the future.

You mean:since the Thai "culture"dictates that a daughter has to take care of her elderly parents, whatever the

cost, not only monetary, for her, money and gold in exchange for a lifelong maid?

    Were it so simple,worth the expense,maybe! :)

  8. I went in today to do all of this (above)

I had asked about 2 months ago when i last did the 90 day reporting if i could do it now or must wait, they said no problem, do it anytime.

So, today i went in with everything.

Immedietly the guy said the money hadn't been in the bank long enough. (i showed him that they money had been in there for 2 years)

He then said: You can only do this 40 days before your present visa expires.

I pointed out i would be out of the country at that time and had asked last time and they said i could do it anytime.

He said: "rules have changed" and turned to the guy behind me and said "next!"

So, now i am worrying that next time i go, if they don't feel like doing any work that day, they will just make up some other BS and tell me i can't get it. At that time, it'll be too late.

So, i guess i'll have to just keep the 800k in the bank another year.

Wait a few days and try again Maybe you will be lucky and get a different officer.

Or try to talk to a supervisor.

Talk to the boss! They are normally less stressed, and less fearful of losing face.

Explain to your wife the situation,so that she may be of more help if necessary. :)

  9. Hi, just want to comment what could be the reason why so many (95%) did not answer the survey: My reason not to answer was, that the original name of the survey was something like "Thai Vis Survey, How fast is Internet Connection Speed". Not exactly sure the name. But for me, the name of the survey had only something to do with the internet quality. When I opened the survey to participate, then I got at leat 30 questions with very private character, such as salary, visa, marriage status etc. Those had nothing to do with internet speed. So I saw the survey like a "camouflaged" general survey about the people themselves, and not the internet line. Sorry if I am wrong here, but this is how I interpreted it. Anyway, the idea about a survey like this is good, but the purpose of the survey should be made very clear from beginning, and also the later planned usage of the data should be mentioned to the user. Then I believe you will get much more people to respond. Br Allan

    I agree.

I participated in the survey, as I really am not impressed with my internet connection (TOT)

But I am sure if you had advertised a normal TV survey, you would have got many more people responding.

I didn't answer the survey for the above mentioned reasons.

Tell clearly the reason for the questions (some are really invasive) and you'll have more answers!

  10. Good - time the authorities clamped down on ex-pats who are constantly trying to exploit some or other loophole in the system.

Thailand offers a whole bunch of different visa types - if one doesn't qualify for one or the other then you really have to ask yourself if they have any good reason to be in Thailand.

When people were allowed to travel to the border and get 30 days visa exempt entry back to back, it was hardly a loophole was it? Now people can get back to back tourist visas with the blessing of the immigration dept, so is that a loophole? Staying for years on back to back tourist visas is really no different to back to back border runs for 30 days visa exempt entry, is it?.

I believe that you are farming in Thailand. I didn't think that that was open to foreigners. Are you perhaps exploiting a loophole?

He is,probably, but his case is "ohh so much different". :)

  11. i should keep a copy of responses like this and others here for a book called " Typical farang in LOS " .. because the book would attempt to answer the question: WHY so many farang in LOS WANT and NEED to ONLY persue the women who seem to be on the make, or take , or whatever..then complain about it??? This is good, because there are many LOVELY thai women who are not on the take, and many of you guys NEVER bother with them. We appreciate that. Signed: the other half who don't need to complain ( and if anything..getting more than they give)

Lovely?Maybe.Fat,ugly or outright dumb is a better definition.

    A young,beautiful Thai girl/woman knows her worth,she knows yours too,most times.

Want to pay the price? No,not after divorce,as in the West,in advance!

Could end up with a partner for life or with a b***h that let you dry.

    At home,is it different? :)

  12. A Thai manual worker, your age and conditions(no children,no extended family to care for),with that money(a lottery win?) could make the transition from destitute to a comfortable life;or he could spend all and return to nothing again.

For an expat, without prior experience of working in Thailand,or any useful know how,is a recipe for disaster.

Look at the failure rates!Good luck anyway. :)

  13. My girlfriend is one year younger than me. I am not retired. I work for myself and have done so for many years. I had a great life in the UK and have a great life here. Sorry if I do not conform to your stereotypes. You would have to ask my girlfriend why she loves me. Seeing as her family are wealthy and she is more than capable of supporting herself, I doubt it has anything to do with money though. She isn't half my weight either, as I'm not particularly fat.

    Kuffki,sorry,but you asked for it!

This is the new brand of TV members, young, fit, successful in their business,,with a Chinese-Thai GF,a rich one,of course,

    can't win with them.Thai internet forum:easy. :)

  14. It sounds more like a forged immigration stamp than a visa. If he was doing a 90 day report when they caught him it could of been a fake extension of stay stamp. I think they would of noticed a visa before that.

You must be right,UJ,but this open the way to more questions.

1st extension? Which kind of Visa/extension? and more.....

Without knowing the real situation, every stupid comment can be saved.(for later or forever) :)

  15. Judging by the answers there seem to be differnt kinds of torture, in my book that is not so.

There is the type of torture that is done for enjoyment. There is the type that is used to save innocent lives. Everything is not black and white. :D

There is the torture made by US citizen, military or civil,at home or abroad, this is ALWAYS justified, right, and made for the better good of mankind! White, clean, compassionate.

There is the torture made in the Countries friend to the US,this is a grey area, may depend on the friendship level, the publicity generated, the Mood of the Senate,usw.....Grey,smelly,but often efficient and....deniable.

Then, there is the torture made in Countries that are not on the US payroll:this is always a violation of the human rights, sadistic, injustyfied, worth of condemnation. Black, dirty, inhuman.

If you cannot see the difference, you are an US basher! :)

  16. hi i'm the new one for this forum....

i think that's not to late for me to thanks for the webmaster that created this forum even allowed me to join this site.... i love thailand maak maak :):D

    Don't worry,you'll wake up...........sometime! :D

  17. It's a scam. A very small one,(68 Baht) but a scam none the less.

May I as a grumpy old farang make a suggestion?

Take the bag on your doorjamb, and as many other as you can,and put them on the security desk when they are sleeping (should not be too difficult);then enjoy.

    I'm a bad boy . :)

  18. Very confusing as I used most of the documents listed there.

But I am sure that you have to show income of 40.000 baht not your wife....

    I will use:

    Letter of income from Embassy

    Copy of Passport

    TM 7

    Marriage Certificate

    Blue Book Wife

    Yellow Book Me

    Wife's ID Card

    Map to our house

    Photos of house

and of course the other half....

    Nr 1 to 7.

Map and photos not required every year from every Office.

    Oh,yes,bring the wife,of course! :)

  19. Good luck with your move! If I had children of school age I would not want to raise them in LOS either.

But being retired and just my wife and I, I find it a very nice place to be.

Same for me:retired. If I had children of school age, would be completely different.

Children deserve a much better education as they can receive in Thailand.

    Good luck!

  20. As to your preposterous comment about Thai morals I refer you to the example of the Thai sex-industry which is the World's largest and most prevalent in all the World.

    :D

Not quite true.  Estimates of the numbers of prostitutes in Thailand run from 800,000 to 2,000,000.  India has 2,800,000, so the industry in India, at least, is larger.

Thailand is most likely the largest destination, though, for sex tourism by foreigners, but I have not read any such numbers.

My math is not very good:how many hooker per capita in Thailand and ow many in India? :)
