  1. Have I been mistaken…?? I thought that December / January were ok for smog and that it didn’t get bad until March…? I must have been reading the wrong information… What I’m trying to do is the pick the best time of the year to go back to my home country for a visit each year. The wisest time it seems would be when the smog is at it worst….?? So when is that I wonder.
  2. Thanks very much for the help….appreciate it greatly….can you say how much the replacement filters are.…and about how long yours last for before replacement….?
  3. My partner had COVID…..then 4 weeks later Influenza…..and now, with weeks of consistently Orange or Red AQI readings he is coughing so much that he vomits. So…no. Not whining. Genuine concern.
  4. What’s going on. The AQI started to get bad in December…. and now……still bad…..?
  5. Can you share what banks debit card are best for “no fees”…….I’m from Australia.
  6. Doesn’t every bank do cash advances on any Visa cards…?? on Chatona RD there’s BKK, Kasikorn, SCB etc…
  7. Thanks….I look at IQ Air too……for example though….at 9.20pm Dec 19……when I search AQI Chiang Mai……IQ air gives me a reading of 89………..and Accu…gives a reading of 29.
  8. Who do you trust…? Some of the most prominent sites have wildly different figures…?
  9. Hello….Can anyone offer their recommendations about bedroom air purifiers…. It’s only December and the AQI is at unpleasant levels. It seems to me that the cost of replacement filters is probably more important than the cost of the initial machine…? What purifer has the most economic filters…? And is silent enough for the bedroom...? And how frequently do you find you have to replace them….? Appreciate as always your suggestions… Thanks….
  10. Yes….had the Influenza vax in May …..Will that cover me for this ‘winter’ season in Chiang Mai…? I go back to Oz end of Jan.. Appreciate your input…
  11. Just wondering…. Thinking of something just to get around the local small sois. May not be feasible or legal….. Anyone know the actual facts re these small vehicles… Are they road legal and able to be registered……..?

  14. I was thinking of one large deposit of maybe Baht 1.5 mil. I want them to be safe for a while if I go unexpectedly….
  15. Yes True. I have gotten them to do a Will also with me as beneficiary..
  16. How about one lump sum….maybe Baht 1mil or 1.5. I’m just thinking that they will need reasonable money if I happen to kick the bucket unexpectedly……horrible to think about but I’d be much more content if I knew they wouldn’t have to worry for a while …
  17. Hi…. just planning for the future. I’m considerably older than my Thai partner. We are not married. I already have a Thai will…..but was thinking of putting a large-ish amount into their account to tide them over in the event of a problem. My question is…. Would a large amount coming into their account cause problems for them. Are there any taxation rules or something like that for example…..? Anyone who has gone through this themselves I’d be grateful of your experience… Cheers.
  18. Thank you…..can Skype ring any number….even those that don’t have it installed…..?
  19. Thanks for everyone taking the time to reply…..all useful information. I never thought of SKYPE for example. What’s APP is no good because the person you ring has to have What’s App installed also ……is that correct…. If so…that’s not going to work. My fiends are elderly and some just won’t do it… Can SKYPE ring ‘any’ number….Even those numbers that don’t have SKYPE installed….?
  20. Hi… ive had a lot of difficulty communicating with the AIS staff and it seems I’ve been sold a SIM that has no option for using a budget prefix for cheaper International calls….especially to AUSTRALIA. My friends tell me that TRUE has a 00600 prefix that they use and they get cheap calls. Currently I have a ‘Super Social’ AIS sim in the phone and I can’t work out if any cheap calls are possible with this sim and get no sense from the staff. So….if you have knowledge about this issue I’d be most grateful. Am I doing something wrong…? Do different AIS sims have different options….so would another AIS sim be able to get cheap calls…? Do ALL TRUE sims have the 00600 option or only some..? Or should I just leave …and get a true sim ….? Appreciate any help on this troubling issue….Cheers.
