There's already been so much damage to the economy and he has already created so much uncertainty when it comes to relationships with allies, worldwide trade and what appears to be a continued diminishment of American relevance around the world.
Now it would appear that he is declaring war on the Fed, so is he acting in a sincere manner, and does he honestly believe that what he's doing is going to have a long-term benefit on the economy? Or is this man just completely unhinged, and unable to control himself, and does he feel a constant need to lash out at anybody that he does not perceive as a friend and ally, or anyone who is not expressing sufficient fealty? It seems like every day he picks a new fight.
President Donald Trump on Monday ratcheted up his pressure campaign on Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, calling him a “major loser” and warning that the U.S. economy could slow down unless interest rates are lowered immediately.
″‘Preemptive Cuts’ in Interest Rates are being called for by many,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump (falsely) claimed that there is currently “virtually no inflation” in the U.S., and that costs for energy and “most other ‘things’” are on the decline. “With these costs trending so nicely downward, just what I predicted they would do, there can almost be no inflation, but there can be a SLOWING of the economy unless Mr. Too Late, a major loser, lowers interest rates, NOW,” Trump wrote.
Trump’s latest salvo against Powell — whom he appointed during his first administration — came as the president and his team are studying whether they can legally fire the central bank leader before his term expires in May 2026. Powell has flatly stated that the president cannot remove him under the law.
Any attempt by Trump to fire Powell would likely trigger a steep sell off in U.S. equity markets, Evercore ISI’s vice chairman, Krishna Guha, told CNBC on Monday.
“If you start to raise questions about Federal Reserve independence, you are raising the bar for the Federal Reserve to cut. If you actually did try to remove the Federal Reserve chairman, I think you would see a severe reaction in markets with yields higher, dollars lower and equities selling off,” Guha said on “Squawk Box. "I can’t believe that that’s what the administration is trying to achieve,” Guha said.
I realize that billionaires in general tend to be very much out of touch with the concerns that we normal people have, but this man seems to be detached from reality to such an extreme extent, that it would appear (from my point of view) to make him a very unstable leader, which makes the world a far less stable place.

A BLACK BODY will radiate heat much faster than a WHITE BODY...
So, even your hypothesis is a bit confusing to me.
If they wanted to conserve heat inside their house, one would have thought they might have chosen WHITE as a better color than JET BLACK....
Makes no sense to me....actually....

It's too hot for me. All my buildings have black roofs, which leak and make the top floor very hot.
How about a new topic on why bathroom floors are slippery from day one?
Mine was because the "builders" needed to use up the extra wall tiles.

Dear Folks,
Having just watched someone put up a new roof, somewhere in Thailand:
a. The homeowner chose BLACK…JET BLACK for the exterior covering of a corrugated roof for a very large sun awning. I mean…a HUGE awning connected to his house.
b. Why choose BLACK, JET BLACK?
c. Does he think this color might be “COOL”?
d. I do agree that the STONES are COOL, and the Tune is VERY COOL.
e. But, to paint a roof black in Thailand…Is this cool? Or, is this idiocy?
What are the construction workers thinking, too?
Are they not aware of the radiation absorption PROPERTIES of a…
BLACK BODY IN SPACE, for example?
When we talk about BLACK BODIES, and BLACK BODY RADIATION, I guess you all know what I am talking about. But, do the workers here, who are working on this big project, understand? Have they not even studied Year One Astronomy at MIT, for example?
All MIT courses are available on the net, and for free.
Any excuses for not having watched the Physics courses on MIT's great website, before putting up a black roof?
This just boggles my mind.
AND...What about the HEAT-ISLAND Effect, around the black roof?
What about THAT????
Ignorance is Bliss, as they say…until..it becomes the ….
HOT SEASON, in Thailand.
Best regards,
Gamma
They painted it black because they want to conserve the heat already inside the house (TIC).

A devastating road crash has claimed the lives of three family members and left an eight-month-old baby critically injured as the Songkran holiday period drew to a close. The incident occurred at approximately 13:25 on 19 April, along the parallel inbound carriageway of Phetkasem Road, kilometre marker 146, in Nong Prong Subdistrict, Khao Yoi District, Phetchaburi Province.
Police Lieutenant Sombat Yodsithisak, Investigating Officer at Khao Yoi Police Station, received reports of a collision involving a red four-door pickup truck and a stationary 10-wheeler lorry. Rescue teams rushed to the scene, where they discovered the pickup had crashed into the rear of the parked lorry with such force that it was severely crumpled.
Inside the wreckage, emergency responders found the lifeless bodies of three individuals: Mr. Natthaphong, 38, Ms. Sriwimon, 37, and Mrs. Manya, 67. Rescue workers battled for over an hour to extract their bodies from the mangled vehicle. A baby, just eight months old, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.
Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that the lorry had been parked on the roadside while the driver went into a convenience store. The pickup, believed to be returning from a family holiday in southern Thailand, collided at speed into the stationary vehicle’s rear.
Relatives travelling in a separate car behind the pickup confirmed the group had been vacationing in the South and were returning home ahead of the new work week. The sudden and violent crash has left the extended family in deep mourning.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the precise circumstances of the collision.

I have heard that Bangkok Bank sometimes say yes.
Friend of a friend managed to open one.
You may have to try in a couple of different branches though.
My opinion is to try a main branch of either Bangkok Bank or SCB. I wanted to open a fixed account last year (off-topic I know) both banks mentioned required 3 documents: passport, Thai driving licence (okay license) and my blue condo book. Although I had existing accounts with each bank, SCB was the one I ultimately chose on this occasion - the reason being that the process was much easier, more user-friendly and more streamlined.

The aggressive BMW driver captured in a viral video intentionally ramming into a pickup, arrogantly insisted that both he and the injured pickup driver were at fault, the public disagrees.
The incident occurred on the Bangkok Outer Ring Road motorway in Pathum Thani.
“I would like everyone to watch all the footage. The dashcam videos that initially circulated may cause misunderstandings, suggesting I was solely at fault. There is another video that explains why I had to drive that way.”
The BMW driver, later identified as 28 year old Smiththipat “Peach” Leenawarat, was to blame. He was seen on video repeatedly attempting to cut in front of the pickup before ultimately colliding with it, forcing the pickup into a traffic barrier. It is confirmed that peach is the son of Kritsada Leenawarat, ta powerful local politician in Pathum Thani. Peach recently stood or election as a candidate for the Thanya Buri Municipal Council.
Despite public outcry over Peach’s reckless driving, Kritsada defended his son in a media interview, claiming that he is normally a careful driver.
The 65 year old pickup driver, Prachak Duangyai, suffered broken ribs, while his 64 year old wife, Somsri Duangyai, who was seated beside him, sustained minor injuries. Prachak reportedly remains in a hospital in critical condition, and Somsri is said to be suffering trauma.

A viral video capturing a vicious brawl between foreign tourists on Phuket's infamous Bangla Road has ignited widespread online debate and criticism, particularly concerning Thailand’s visa policies and the presence of foreign gangs. The dramatic incident turned a lively nightlife scene into a virtual boxing ring, drawing heavy scrutiny.
The 48-second clip, shared by Phuket Expose on Facebook, shows two men attacking a third in a fierce fistfight, while bystanders looked on in shock without intervening. The post, captioned “Free visas, fiercely fighting 2-1, both good boxers,” sparked a flood of reactions, highlighting concerns about public safety and the potential influence of unchecked tourism policies.
Witnesses report that the men dispersed and returned to their accommodations as if nothing had occurred. The incident has fed into concerns among locals about the nature of visiting tourists. Netizens used the comments section to vent their frustrations, with some linking the fight to Thailand's liberal visa policies and recent cannabis law reforms, suggesting these factors might attract unruly tourists.
Comments ranged from humorous references to Muay Thai, the local martial art, to cynical suggestions about future venues for such brawls. Some netizens pointed to the broader implications of these events, questioning whether Thailand’s attractiveness as a tourist destination is overshadowed by rising incidents of foreigner-involved violence.
Despite the lack of confirmed identities or nationalities for the brawlers, local police are reportedly reviewing CCTV footage and considering launching an investigation. This incident is just the latest in a series of public safety concerns tied to Thailand’s tourism industry, rebounding strongly post-pandemic.
As Phuket and other hotspots like Pattaya experience surging tourist numbers, the balance between welcoming visitors and maintaining order is increasingly questioned by locals. Although there has been no official response from Thai immigration or Patong police thus far, it’s clear the event has heightened public discourse on how Thailand manages its booming tourism trade and the associated challenges, reported The Thaiger.

A 40-year-old woman has been seriously injured after being viciously attacked by a pit bull cross she had adopted from a local animal shelter. The incident occurred near Wat Kai Tia temple in Wang Yang subdistrict, Si Prachan district of Suphan Buri province at around 10:30 on 17 April.
Rescue services from the Sameu Kan Foundation rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call reporting a dog attack. The woman, Ms. Sutharat, was found lying in a pool of blood behind the abbot’s quarters at the temple. She had sustained deep lacerations to both arms and hands, with some wounds exposing bone.
She was given first aid at the scene before being transferred to Sri Prachan Hospital and later referred to Chao Phraya Yommarat Hospital due to the severity of her injuries.
Investigators found that the dog, a male pit bull and American bully cross named “Copper,” had been kept in a converted storage room behind the abbot’s quarters. Blood-stained dog toys were found scattered around the improvised kennel. The dog was sedated and temporarily removed by livestock officials following the attack.
Mr. Anan, the victim’s father, explained that his daughter, an avid dog lover, had adopted the dog from a shelter. Copper had originally been rehomed to someone in Samut Prakan province, but was returned due to aggressive behaviour and size. Ms. Sutharat, sympathising with the animal, took him back into her care.
“She regularly took him for exercise and was putting him back in his enclosure when the attack happened,” Mr. Anan said. “She loved that dog, but now I don’t think I can let her care for aggressive breeds anymore.”
Phra Khru Sukitjanurak, the abbot of Wat Kai Tia and local ecclesiastical head of Wang Yang subdistrict, revealed that the same dog had bitten him less than three weeks earlier, breaking his arm and requiring nine stitches.
“She found the dog at the shelter and took pity on it,” the abbot said. “I warned her that it was a large and potentially dangerous breed. After my own injury, I suggested she find someone else to adopt it.”
He recounted the moment of the latest attack: “I heard screaming and saw the dog biting her arms, trying to reach her neck. I shouted for her to stay calm and then banged on metal sheeting to scare the dog off. It finally stopped, and we called for help.”
The abbot issued a warning to the public about adopting stray or rescued dogs. “We may love and feel compassion for them, but if we haven’t raised them from a young age, they can be unpredictable. The risk is real.”
Authorities are now assessing Copper’s future, while the incident has reignited debates over the safety of adopting mixed-breed or powerful dogs from shelters.

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has been honoured as a 2025 Young Global Leader (YGL) by the World Economic Forum. The 38-year-old leader has been recognised among the top 114 global figures under 40, confirming her influential role as a changemaker. The prestigious platform celebrates emerging leaders with an impressive record of fostering positive change across the globe.
Confirmed by government advisor Jirayu Huangsap on April 16, this accolade highlights PM Paetongtarn’s enduring global and national influence.
Just recently, she featured in TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential People list. Despite her relatively brief tenure, her progressive policies and dynamic leadership have been widely acknowledged, solidifying her as one of Asia's youngest and most successful female heads of government.
Since assuming office, PM Paetongtarn has tackled various critical issues with notable speed and effectiveness. Her administration has tirelessly combated call centre scams, drug-related crime, and worked on bolstering disaster preparedness.
Key initiatives such as the 30-Baht Universal Healthcare Anywhere programme and a pioneering digital wallet scheme aim to revitalise Thailand’s economy, with both projects contributing to her recognition on a global level.
Beyond her political endeavours, PM Paetongtarn is also celebrated for her contribution to promoting Thai culture worldwide. As chair of the Thai Soft Power Committee, she has been instrumental in showcasing cultural events like the Songkran festival to international audiences.
The YGL programme, established by Klaus Schwab, seeks to foster responsible leadership, and with over 1,400 global members, it champions efforts to better the world across various fields.
Meanwhile, PM Paetongtarn clarified the objectives behind the Entertainment Complex Bill, dismissing concerns about it turning Thailand into a casino hub. She emphasised its goal to drive economic growth and boost tourism, rather than focusing solely on gambling.
