  1. I'm from the us,there are around 20 states where there aren't motorcycle laws for adults.Statistics show where there are helmet laws there are more motorcycle accidents.Helmets give A false sense of security.

If there isn't A helmet law where I ride I don't use one.It blocks my perefial vision and my hearing.I've never had an accident and been riding motorcycles for over 44 years.I've been coming to thailand for over 40 years. There are many places in thailand where I won't ride .For people that do it's only A matter of time before ya do have an accident. Some of ya think i'm lucky.Your wrong,I'm good

Ok, im not falling for this one ... i got caught by the op about his post being a joke ... you're not getting me on this one "thrilled"

I mean ... this has to be a joke post ... no one in their right mind would have this kind of logic ... would they?

Nah ... only an idiot would make this claim and be serious

    Good one "thrilled"

  2. I'm sorry but " it messes up my hair " has to be the most pathetic excuse for not wearing a helmet there is. Especially coming from a bloke. :shock1:

It isn't a matter of choice as some tend to think, it is the law. You have to be a complete idiot not to wear one in my honest opinion ! :sorry:

....it was kinda a joke about the hair...I mean really a couple of you come across as a prick having zero sense of humor...

opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one...you seemed to be blessed with 2...congrats on that....

Seems like a touch of back peddling to me. Possibly that you made an a-hole of yourself with you "joke"

Oh by the way ... make sure you wear a helmet when back peddling ... keep the hair out of your eyes

  3. The Australian provisional residency visa does not carry any weight in the UK or France. She will need to apply separately for a UK Entry Clearance and a Schengen visa for France. As she is residing legally in Australia, she can apply by post to the British High Commission in Canberra for her UK Entry Clearance. For France, she will need to apply in person to the French Embassy in Canberra or the Greek Consulate-General in Adelaide, Melbourne or Perth (Greece now officially represents France in these cities).

Even after her Australian residency becomes permanent, she will still be a citizen of Thailand and will need a visa to travel to most European and North American countries. Should she elect to take Australian citizenship at some point in the future, that will get her visa exempt entry to the UK, Schengen zone, US and Canada amongst others.

Thanks for the information KamnanT. I thought as much, but I was hoping that an entry visa into the UK could also be used in the rest of Europe being members of the EEC. I'll check with the relevant Embassies on Monday.

    Thanks again

  4. Hi everybody

I realise the Embassy would be the best solution for this problem, but it always seems I think of things on a Friday afternoon just when the Embassy closes.

My wife is currently holding an Australian 2 year provisional Visa. in her Thai passport. We are both currently living in Australia but we want to visit my relations in England and wondered if she needed to get any kind of additional visa to enter the UK. We will also take a side trip to France, are there any other problems we could encounter?

    Thanks in advance

  5. ..... and the lady went back to her stall to sell the porn dvd's i bet.

Some things you just couldnt make up in Thailand, how is it so acceptable to sell SEX and SEX DVD's but showing a bit of flesh on the beach or surrounding area is frowned upon. Is it one rule for Farangs and obne rule for locals here ?

As i see it, its the same rule. There is more than likelihood that the woman is selling porn dvd's or owns a stall selling sex aids, but these products in most cases are there to satisfy the farang needs, same as the showing of naked parts of the body in general public.

As much as i appreciate the female form, I do think that tourists should show more respect for the Thai culture as voiced by the majority of thais.

  6. As the saying goes, each to their own. Late last year my wife and I inspected Trio with the intention of buying. We were led to believe initially that it was a new build but that is obviously not the case once you see them. We were shown a couple of condo's that were "completed" but still needed the finishing touches, such as light switches, taps, lights etc. With a vivid imagination one could see a reasonable apartment but nothing special and certainly not worth the price they are asking even with the free ipad. Views from the top floor condo's were very nice, if you wanted to stand whilst drinking your chang, but once you sat the retaining wall blocked all views.

We ended up buying a condo in Hillside and can only say that we are more than happy with what we ended up with.

  7. I knew a Thai woman who didn't like overweight men, therefore since all Thai women think and act exactly the same you are doomed.

Are all Thai women the same? I think hardly. That is why I am asking because if one women thinks that way does not mean that everyone thinks like that. I just want to know if my observations are correct.

How does this spin grab you ... Ive been told that some Thai women prefer the guy to have a few extra pounds as it takes them off the potential market :D

  8. Too bad the only girls who can fit correctly in a Hooters uniform are the Chiang Mai ladyboys. I'm sure that will add to the uniqueness of a Thailand Hooters restaurant! :whistling:

Ive been to the Hooters in Singapore and trust me ... seeing the lithe bodies and beautiful faces is a complete distraction from the absence of breast size. Id prefer an Asian hooter any day over an American hooter.

  9. Hi

You don't indicate how much it would cost in Finland, but from my recent enquiries it was cheaper to have an implant done in Thailand than it was in Australia, and that also took into consideration flight costs. However that was in Bangkok. It might be worth comparing prices in various hospitals. I have always found them to be quite accomodating when giving quotes.

I was advised that a month should be considered between having the post set and the implant fitted. I assume that because x rays have already been taken the assessment of whether a bone graft is needed has been done.

    Good luck

  10. I would like to take this opportunity to wish every one in and around Chiang Mai all the best for the New Year. It's a wonderful opportunity to celebrate with family and friends and make new acquaintances.

Take care your self and continue this great forum next year.

  11. Hi everybody

I love drinking GOOD coffee and obviously taste buds vary from person to person, so one man's poison etc. I've tried various coffee shops to find that elusive GOOD cup of coffee but unfortunately it eludes me. No disrespect intended but most Asian countries just can't make coffee, whether it's the water or whatever. I hate to see the influx of Western fast food outlets but in the case of coffee, I welcome the likes of Starbucks etc for my coffee fix.

I'm sure there must be plenty of cafe's where i can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction in Chiang Mai.

    Thanks

  12. Without any doubt this is a horrific crime, but what amazes me is how does anyone get the opportunity and access to abuse children of this age range without knowledge of parents/carers etc. I am in no way defending this piece of st but other people are supplying him with infants for his deprived habit.

What is being done to find these other people.

Maybe it's time to take a serious look at friends and neighbours we associate with and ask the question. It's a harsh type of reality but the fact is it could be happening in our suburbs where we live.

I know I could inform on anyone involved in this type of activity. Just a thought

  13. Hi everybody

You may or may not be aware that Thai people do not use names the same as the rest of the world. How many times do you hear thais actually calling each other by their names, not very often. How many times do you hear "pee" .. "nong" ... and yes papa. Yes, Im the wrong side of 50 but seldom do i hear them call me "papa or any other name for that matter. Some names do give off certain connotations ... well for me they do. I hate hearing wives calling their husbands "theerak", Save it for the bars.

    Really, whats in a name?

Howard (or papa if you prefer :whistling: )

  14. I would recommend Absolute Hair Studio just down past Kaew Suan Gouw. The boss speaks good English and it is not too pricey but not the cheapest

My wife called in there a couple of weeks ago before we came back to Aus. Place seemed clean and professional and the level of English was very good, even though my wife is Thai. She didn't have the perm she wanted because it was too late in the day and next day we headed for Bangkok but i am sure if we had stayed she would have gone back.

  16. Air Asia is the only carrier on this route.

    Thanks Dave

I had a feeling this was the case but just wanted it verified. The connecting flight times from KL aren't convenient for me but I will just have to make do.

Yes Mahseer, the seat setup is similar to Tiger Air and probably most budget carriers. I always opt for row 13 because of this reason.
