Living in Cambodia, but back in BKK after 6 months out, I am so disapoined to see the police closing (raiding) terraces on Khao Sarn at 2AM!
Having been in Thailand many times since more than 20 years, I feel like what I would call AmeriThai... A land whose freedom (thai is meaning "free" from what I did knew I think) is a legend of the past!
Where has gone that welcoming freedom and 24/24 life?
I can barely accept their f***** ban on alcohol at some hours of the day or night...
But this police state is not a place for relaxed partying tourists anymore!
Seeing the prices soaring (skyrocketing) and the warmth of welcome sinking like the Titanic, I understand better each time I come back why Cambodia's tourism gets 30% increase every year...
Forget about Thaimerica, enjoy wild Cambodian Kingdom of Wonders!

4.6 square Km could also easily divided by 2 which would give 2.3 Km2 for each country...
Then the natural border could naturally be drawn by the watershed line...
Now, as many did suggest before, a "Peace and Friendship Sanctuary" managed and maintained by both countries should be a relevant decision!
ASEAN in two years, borders will probably "soften" as it happened with the Shengen Zone. Border lines did not move but business and tourism has been eased...
A recent Bangkok Post poll said that more than 95% of the surveyed thais would disagree with a "war" on this dispute...
So why a couple of stubborn nationalists of both countries continue to try to poison the now friendly relationships of two neighbourgs whole populations?
Isaan people and Khmers of the north share the same DNA...

Come to Cambodia...
Booze, smoke and girls are cheaper...

3G or not, mobile internet being overloaded in Thailand, I never had a decent speed except sometimes aroud 4-5 AM... Bangkok in the afternoon, I never could load a basic (i.e. google) page... I use AIS 1-2Call...
Here in Cambodia, with Metfone, even in lost towns in provinces I can mesure up to 7Mb download.

Pornthep said he would launch a campaign urging young girls to carry at least two condoms in their bag so they are always prepared.
I thought girls would be considered prostitutes if carrying condoms and get arrested...

Anyway, taxes do not reduce carbon emissions...
All the industry and each individual have to become "carbon savers" and do efforts to keep this little planet liveable for their children and gran children and followers...

TV soaps and facebook build the fiction of a romantic ungrounded world in S-E Asian's young minds!
Then junkfood and excesses of sugar are worstening the depressive tensions...

How would CCTV footage help?
Murder of the aussie travel agent now denies...

WHO seems to want to relate those childs deaths to EV71 or HFMD, but reading the letter Dr Beat Richner, founder of Kantha Bopha Hospitals in Cambodia, posted on his facebook page it seems that the cause of their death is a fast lungs deterioration (6h till trespassing...) but not related to EV 71 or HFMD!
Like his page, he's a great humanist swiss doctor, and read his 5 pages letter for more infos!

I am so happy to read that this so stupid fight the nationalists yellow shirts started 4 years ago gets to a solution!
This temple is a World Heritage and a source of revenue due to tourism on both sides of the border!
My ex-gf living in Kantharalak does not share the idea of keeping soldiers and I wonder who in the district wants to keep the army except a few booze sellers and karaoke girls...
I love the idea of having monks of both country as permanent residents and peace keeper someome suggested!

Will the visa on arrival be available at airport only or as well for land travellers?
-
Hope free helicopter transfers will be offered to passengers with connecting flight operated from each airport!
Or will there be a skytrain line be built to connect before the airport shift?
-
Thailand becomes as unfriendly and liberty restrictive as america!
I loved traveling and smoking in openbuses in 1990...
Hopefully there's still the "between the cars" smokers lounge in the trains!

If it works as Thai 3G, trains will ride 56Km/h in 15 years...

Go to Khao Sarn road, observe what post-junkies-with-deadlock wear and avoid all of their style!

take a gun and shoot randomly! What a shame it happens here too! Best wishes to the wounded.

Thailand was doing much better in the Thaksin's years... Now he says he will not take a politic role anymore... still I am sure he will act as counselor or consultant. I believe it's a good thing as I consider him as a wise and successful man.
Thailand was on war with Cambodia along the "yellow" years, peace came back soon after Yingluck victory...

Didn't we recently were offered a link to "The 10 most dangerous airports in the world"?
DM was part of them... don't remember what was the reason!
Anyway having enough officers at immigration, which I never saw at Swampy, is the only solution!
Bangkok is a major hub connecting the world to S-E Asia! As long as there is no express and direct sky train between the 2 airports, this proposal will make mostly unhappy people!

Sure €uro will go bankrupt!
Question is when...
$ too is a sick fake money... cheap printed paper!
So what's left?
In Gold I trust!

Nothing about fun in my contribution...
Just that I had the worst 250b GH and the best ever GH in Thailand for 260b...
That best GH is Maekok Villa , you can find it on Travelfish...
Highly recommended by me, large and very clean room (I had A4 in the blue house on the left for 260b/night), well furnished with even 2 wooden chairs and table on the balcony, private large bathroom with hot shower, soap, towels, water!... I even could connect to the wifi in my room! (they even offer a free of charge public PC)
Motorbike rental or tours can be booked onsite, I had my motorbike delivered in about 15 minutes from asking it.
(Just a blame to Mae Hong Son GH of Chiang Rai with its tiny dirty room and steel hard matress overpriced at 250b!)

What about AIS HSPA being slower than GPRS or even GSM data?
About never possible to reach basic pages in Bangkok...
-
Ha ha ha...
Yesterday's article "Internet is bad for morality" - Today the government give free internet to the people
Anyway it's a good idea, as actual mobile internet in Bangkok is the worst I ever see anywhere in the world. In fact there is no mobile internet in Bangkok, just an H sign on my mobile but no access (or as slow as GSM data was 20 years ago!)

Internet is bad: Yes, mobile internet in Thailand is a shame! GPRS at the time of Thaksin was faster than HSPA today!
Ease access to religion: would be a good idea to remember Thailand once was a Buddhist country, today I see it as an half Muslim country...

Where To Stay On Budget Around Sukhumvit/nana?
in Bangkok
Posted
Hi everyone,
I had been a young backpacker more more than 20 years ago...
I'm still a "Cheap Charly" but getting bored of Khao Sarn...
I still need cheap fan room but would like to stay around Sukhumvit, Nana or around...
Any suggestion for a clean and safe guesthouse around?
