More factual information:

Last Wednesday i did my second retirement visa extension. The first 2 I did with the 800,000 baht method. This was my first time using the consulate letter. Everything was in order, no questions or further documentation requested.

Everyone there at immigration seems to work hard. I just wish they had more space and maybe some more staff. They seem to be getting busier over time

Perhaps you can negotiate with him to see outpatient clinic only, and agree no hospitalization. Most good docs would hear that and work with you.

Just as the prior poster recommends AA insurance at Meechok Plaza consistently, I do not based on poor customer service.

I find the service at AA Mechok Plaza to be lacking. Personally I can't recommend them.

Of the well built shoes, only New Balance offer wider sizes (Adidas & Nike do not.) Look at Central Dept store in Kad Suan Kaew. Should be able to get a pair of walking shoes for about 1500 baht.

Once you learn the website, it isn't that difficult to search for the ultra-low flights. I didn't book any international, but there is good availability of 10 baht seats to BKK and HKT. I just booked 4 of the former and 2 of the latter. It took about 5 minutes per ticket to book, once the heavy traffic on the website eased. There is a glitch in the software preventing you from booking any date from 1 to 8 July (it defaults to July 9.) This is one of the best deals of domestic travel here, get them while they last.

Just bought a low-end apartment and everyone has those prison bars for security for the front door. I trotted off to Home Pro to buy a steel security door, but they don't have any. They gave me a sheet from a company called PCJ Industries, who apparently do have steel doors. Their website, however, has mostly industrial, ugly steel fire doors.

Has anyone found a steel security door provider with attractive doors in Chiang Mai? I want to install within a week or so, so they would have to have some inventory locally. If not, I guess it's prison bars for me.

It may not book out as quickly as it should. There is a problem with the new website installed 2 weeks ago. I couldn't buy these or any tickets on the website, and even went down to Thapae gate Air Asia office where they verified with their computer that you can't purchase tickets on the website. But there is a way. Use your mobile phone at their mobile website, and it works.

If you feel strongly about attending AUA, check with the woman who supervises the teachers, and who has her office in the registration building. Sorry, I can't remember her name. She often teaches the same course along with malee and oranute {horses neigh}. She may clue you in to who will likely teach the next reading/writing classes. I took class one at AUA and transferred to YMCA for their class 2 and 3. The teachers there are smart, dedicated, and encouraging of those who stumble on tones and pronounciation. The difference was like night and day. I think your friend will enjoy any class where a real teacher does her job well.

I agree about the Golden Ball--really decent food at good prices and the boys are handsome. I also like Gallery Bar across from the entrance from the Imperial Mae Ping hotel. Beautiful garden courtyard setting, good food, and lower drink prices than the night bazaar. The waiters are handsome, and seem to be football players. .......
