Obviously can't do too much about immediate take off/landing zones but just before landing and soon after takeoff flight path can be, and is often altered.

Even a small variation in temperature has a significant effect on aircraft climb performance. It may be that aircraft are taking longer to reach their safe turn altitude and going an extra mile or two before turning  thus taking them over Mae Jo, whereas before, they turned inside the outer ring road.

Interesting that since the very wet weather in the the last couple of hours the flight tracker site shows that most of the planes are turning much earlier, well before the outer ring road.

i don't know about chiang mai but at some airports if the prevailing winds change direction the landing and takeoff directions are reversed. or it could just be a huge increase in flights.

how long has this been going on?

There were no planes at all before, just the occasional hot air balloons! The planes started flying over about 2 weeks ago, every day since then. Starts about 6am and goes on until midnight.

Thanks for the flight tracking link.

  3. It is said that 'Butterfly Pea' shampoo enhances new hair growth, darkening and replacement of white hair. Not sure how good it is as I see a lot of Thais dye their hair, but may be worth a try.

  4. Developments!  Both of my recent orders arrived today ... go figure.

One order was from iherb and the other from a different US company. Both were sent from US mid Dec by different methods, one DHL and the other USPS, so it doesn't seem like it was a problem with DHL. Maybe they just sat in customs for a few weeks. I'll continue using iherb as they have always been so good. Delays are not from their side and shipping charges are only a couple of dollars.

  6. Not just me then.

DHL and then Thai Post take over. Parcels are tracked with DHL up to the parcels arriving in Laksi. After that there is no tracking at all, so the parcels can't be traced and each office I ring whether it be customs, Thai Post, iherb, DHL, or the local post office tell me to contact the other people. In fairness to iherb they have been great over the years - I don't think there is any problem their end - it's when the parcel gets here that they disappear into the Bermuda Triangle.

  7. After years of getting orders through of iherb the last 2 haven't arrived. Tracking with DHL ends at Laksi and there seems no way of checking what's happened to them as they just join the Thai regular post without tracking. I've tried ringing Thai post and customs, but no joy. I've put in another small order, so we'll see what happens to that. Interested to hear others 2017 experiences.

  8. Yes, it's a pain that there's no tracking for them in Thailand, but have had no problems with iherb parcels sent the same way until now.

It's also not just DHL, but USPS as well and the parcels arrived in Thailand, so that suggests the issue is here as the parcels are passed to Customs and then Thailand Post, but the trail ends when the parcels arrived here.

  9. Been ordering stuff from USA for a number of years without issue. Now, my last 3 orders have not arrived. First parcel arrived via DHL to Thai Post at Laksi 22/11/2016 value $11 .  2nd Parcel via DHL to Laksi arrived 29/12/16 Value $40 . 3rd parcel via USPS - basic track only shows leaving US 22/12/16 Value $100.

DHL only track to Thailand and then Thai Post cannot track the package. USPS tracking only shows when leaving US and Thai Post cannot track in Thailand. I've had no notifications from customs and even tried ringing them, but they're not answering. Also, has anyone had issues with Mae Rim PO - they haven't been helpful when I called

Has anyone else had iherb, or international parcels not arriving?

  10. The increase means that now EMS is very poor value. They are not a premium courier like say FedEx:

EMS are now usually twice the price of FedEx for small parcels.

EMS delivery usually 7 days plus. FedEx delivery 2 - 4 days.

EMS trackable by Thai and international destination postal services, but NOT trackable when travelling between the two which is where delays/losses are usually experienced. FedEx fully trackable all the journey until delivery.

EMS if a delay and customer launches a track EMS promise some information within 4 months. FedEx if delay they are on the case to sort out quickly.

I'm not an apologist for FedEx,UPS,DHL or anyone else, but have always regarded EMS as a halfway house between normal post and a private courier and the service is usually pretty good, but why pay twice the price for an inferior service?

  11. Just a warning to anyone sending small international parcels via EMS. We sent one to Australia today - last week EMS Price 750 baht - EMS Price today 2300 baht
Huge increases to USA and probably everywhere else as well.

Just hoping that someone's made an error and it'll be fixed, but I don't think that's going to happen. Feel like I've been robbed!

  12. I've just got a couple of complimentary passes for all four days of golf at the Thailand Classic Asian and European Tour event at Black Mountain Golf Resort,Hua Hin.

I can't go unfortunately,so if you live in Chiang Mai and are going down for it pm me. I could also send them if we've no takers up here.

  13. Same experience for me at Chaitawat. The bike was the front one on display 2 inches off the ground and they wouldn't even take it off the stand and let me sit on it unless I said I was going to buy it if it fit me. The guy said that it was a waste of his time if I didn't buy. It was the bike I wanted and I had the cash in my wallet, but just had to walk away from someone with that attitude.Bizarre.

Went to Jacky Bike and he was very helpful and brought a bike down from upstairs for me to try and gave me advice about sizing and stuff.

  14. The Gerson place in Chiang Dao isn't operating as far as I know.
I think it was basically an organic farm run by a young guy with cancer who was doing the Gerson Therapy, but could help others as well. I think he's opened an English teaching school in Cambodia now.

Healing begins on a cellular level and Gerson Therapy is one of many natural treatments that boost a sick body's own healing power,so in answer to your question I would say that it is very, very useful.

There are lots of testimonials on the web.
Here's some info from Dr Patrick Vickers at Gerson Centre in Mexico

  15. Before anyone gets a root canal done inform yourself of the dangers of this procedure to your health and immune system.

If you have already had the root canal procedure then consider getting the dead tooth/teeth removed. It is important to ensure that the extraction procedure includes removal of the periodonatal ligament and infected bone underneath the tooth.

The dangers of root canals have been extensively researched by Dr Weston Price,Hal Huggins,George Meinig amongst others and linked to degenerative autoimmune illnesses.

  16. Another thumbs up for "Chotana private hospital" - Chotanavet Animal Hospital just past Tesco Lotus on the Super Highway.

Dr Pongpao has looked after our dog for 8 years and he saved one of our cats after a botched operation at another vets near us in Maejo.

Chotanavet is owned and run by Dr Pongpao - T: 053-215333. He's a nice guy, diligent and a good communicator who thoroughly explains his suggested treatment/prognosis and speaks excellent English. He is very experienced in all aspects of pet healthcare and specializes in orthopaedics. When you go to his clinic your pet will be treated by him as he is a sole proprietor.

    His website is here: http://chotanavet.com/

I hope your dog recovers cmsally and receives the best treatment wherever you take her.

  17. I send small parcels all the time and the price in the post office has always been the same as the Thai Post website indicates. I read people knocking the postal service here and I can't understand it as it is not my experience and I use them a lot.

Air mail delivery times depend on the country - average time is 2 - 3 weeks, but UK and Europe can be very quick - often 7 - 10 days. One of the slowest is US - Parcels can sit there for weeks before being processed and passed on to USPS.

In general I have found all the postal services to be excellent, especially Thai Post.

  18. I'm wanting to get a Retirement Extension from a Non-Immigrant B Visa through having 800k deposited for over 60 days.

The day before my UK Non-Immigrant B Visa expired (mid December) I did a border hop and got a 3 month Non-B entry stamp.

Am I right in assuming that I am still ok to apply for the retirement extension even though the original UK Non B Visa has expired?

    Thank you.
