  1. This may not help you purchase a vehicle, but it may help you in not making a serious mistake;

    1)  Your list includes vehicles from 10-14 years old with already substantial mileage.  This is prime time for most vehicles to start having problems.

    3)  Your "list" is woefully short on variety, several Ford Everest's and a single Toyota Van.  If you intend to maximize your money you need more choices.

    4) The number of people and the amount of luggage you intend to haul around will necessitate a Van, not a six or seven passenger SUV.  Don't kid yourself, you need more room and a vehicle made for long trips with several people on board.

You have on your list 4 vehicles from the U.S.A.  Having had a plethora of Fords I can say reliability is probably good but if you need parts you should choose something built closer to home.  You should not limit yourself to one or two manufacturers.  You should be looking at companies that provide and sell a lot of vans......look for some industry specifics to find which have fewer repair problems and which are the cheapest to run and maintain.

Try to establish the maximum amount of money you can spend, and when you find a VAN you like make sure it has a good repair record and plenty of receipts, warranty book and an opinion of worthiness from either the Manufacturer's dealership or a trusted mechanic.

    Good luck and happy motoring.

    No your a public servant.

Wrong.  He is a Veteran, not a public servant. Unfortunately, being a Veteran won't even get you a free cup of coffee, it is just a designation of something you "used" to be.

Humans have been on this planet 200k years, Jesus around only 2019 (ish) so, there was an event, probably in someones mind, to have/create a story, "The greatest story ever told" if you like. ????

That answer both questions ????  in short, the invention of a method for a small group or one to control a larger group or many.

In other words, God is a fantasy.........which is what I believe.  Most people would rather believe in the fantasy than try to face the unanswerable question.

  4. In my opinion there are two subjects that no-one really wants to address.  Since I was 15 I've wondered about these two things and answers have not been forthcoming.

    1)  Prior to the "Big Bang" and/or Jesus, what as there?  Was there a beginning to the beginning?  If not, how was there a beginning?  How can you get something from nothing?

    2)  This is really good and I haven't had anyone even attempt the answer:  Where did God come from?

Once I have these answers I will believe in whatever or wherever they lead me.   Until then I will put my faith in the Church of the NFL.

  5. Our neighbor, a lady in her 80's from Venezuela,  was visiting her family here and has been unable to return home for nearly a year.  If the U.S. doesn't intercede somehow to get rid of Maduro, people will continue to starve, have no gainful employment, no medicine, no life!  For once in a long time I am happy we are going to interfere in another country's affairs.   It is beyond past time for someone to help them get rid of the P.O.S. who is so in love with himself he is letting his country and it's citizens die a slow death.  Just like the P.O.S. in Syria.

  6. Don't be too worried folks......it was just about thirty years ago a friend of mine took a vacation to Thailand and I kept looking for the people in his pictures of the hotels and places he had been. The hotels were empty and the restaurants were empty too........it's probably just a burp in the cosmos somewhere and the tourists will be back someday.  I just hope they stay off my golf course!

Just bite the bullet & stick 800,000 Bht in the bank here.

Sooner or later it will be the only accepted way

I agree.  My 800 is in the bank many months early just in case they come up with something to mess it up.  As they used to say, the handwriting is on the wall......and for the life of me I have no idea where that came from.

"I use Amazon to buy stuff from the states and have it shipped to Thailand."

and they never say "this item cannot be shipped to Thailand."

or does that only apply to Amazon UK?

I am sick fed up with Amazon UK saying that they cannot ship to Thailand, so I never use them anymore.

U.S. Amazon will tell you which items ship to Thailand.  Also they've just expanded their shipping reach into Thailand which will much improve delivery and number of vendors who will ship here.   I also use Lazada frequently but not nearly the amount of goods Amazon has.  Have thought of using some of the Chinese shops but don't trust them yet.

The three Japanese workers will simply return home, and the 15 Thai's will either get a new job or continue to support themselves from one illegal activity or another.

Thai people are no different from you.  Don't you think if someone said these kinds of things about you that it would be hurtful?  It's just as easy to be nice as it is to be mean.......try it.

  10. Why all this blather about a potential 3 day overstay?  There is so much traffic about what's right, what's not right, getting letters for the 65K deposits.........I cannot begin to keep up with it or understand it all.

If I didn't have enough to put in the 800K next year when my time comes I think I would start looking for somewhere else to live!  I'm not exactly looking forward to it now.

Why does the money have to come from a foreign account?  We're selling a rental house and will have more than enough cash in the bank to get the 800K from there......is that going to be allowed?   Will I have to actually begin the deposit with money brought from home (the U.S.)?

I am getting way to old for all this shit!

You have a pretty foul mouth about people who you on't agree with. Should look in the mirror a bit more.

I'd take a look at myself if I were you.   Anyone that thinks Thailand just got a new government is sadly under-educated.   We got a "new" government in America a couple of years ago but the old guard is still at work busily trying to overthrow the vote of the people two years on.   (Please, those of you who don't know what you're talking about, shut up about the vote count.  The Electoral College did it's job and Trump is in fact the actually duly elected President).  My wife, a college graduate didn't even bother to vote.  Why?  Because she realizes the futility of going against the powers that be in Thailand.  I doubt in my time or hers anything will change here.  She was a part of the students uprising many years ago......nothing has changed, probably nothing will.   I wish I were as stone-willed as she is.  Just put it up on a shelf and forget about it!  Can't do it myself and suffer the intestinal unrest from it constantly.  Good Luck Thailand, you will need it.

Nuisance? The annual income of a handful of airbnbs supports a higher property valuation.

Hurts the hotel business? The source of the crackdown then.

Is illegal? The law is made in the interests of the people, not a small section of super rich, often foreign, hotel owners.

Tourism accounts for 12% of GNP. Higher accomodation costs will have what effects on the economy?

Airbnb are run by little people who have made good by working hard and saving.

The benefits of tourism should go to the people not a handful of monied gentry.

Airbnb is a "service" like any other.  There are rules to follow and they are not being followed.  Your assessment of the situation belies your knowledge of it.

  13. Let's start this subject over (just kidding).   Look at your USEAGE on the bill as well as the price per kw.  Our usage was substantially higher than previous periods, and the highest of the past twelve months.  I didn't bother to look at the rate per kw or however they measure, the useage total gave me the confirmation as to why our bill went up, which it did, but not extraordinarily.
