The lottery winner is an exception who clearly had no involvement in crime but it is not clear that there were many cases like this. (one of the problems is that there is so little investigative journalism in thailand that we remain generally uninformed.)

And for whats it worth, most of the people who get killed will not be innocent of wrong doing. They know the game.
This is an uninformed statement to be put nicly and without flames.
More than 1/2 the people exexuted were part of a summary quota. they killed a lottery winner in issan because he had suddenly come into cash and the police didnt bother to check/care where that cash came from and jsut assumed he was dealing.
You have to understand the evil empire headed by darth toxin created fear all the way down the ranks. each district had a quota for people to kill, if they didnt have enough drug dealers to kill, then they just killed whoever was convinent.
if a district did not meet its quota of murders, then the bosses would have to fill in the numbers with their familes.
you understand now, so please keep your uninformed comments to yourself.

The guards at the gate at CM consulate are actually not bad and friendly id you SPEAK THAI to them. they have ZERO english nor social skills and to Non-Thai speakers, they are nothing more than robot dogs trained to bark at the times appointed by their masters.
don't blame it on the dogs, blame it on the master because thats exactly how the consulate wants it. if they hired guards who spoke english or had any logical reasoning abilty, then they would have to deal with all these falang at the unappointed times.
by the way, I have done things after hours and I had the consulate staff leave a note prior to the guards and the entry was smooth.
no note = no pass

My company in Thailand is one of the largest Western-owned and managed advertising & marketing companies. Thaivisa.com is one of the largest portals into Thailand for specific information on timely topics of interest to Expats living in or frequenting Thailand. With the Google Ad Words, hotel bookings and banner ad sales, etc. it COULD be worth upwards of 10 million+ Baht as"invalidusername" (I would like to know who he is becuase he makes a lot of sense) commented so correctly in pricing this site with the limited info he had available. George has done an excellent job of building Thaivisa.com into a powerful player on the internet. If he were ever to sell it, a fresh approach to a time-tested site like this could yield the investors substantial returns.
on a related note, there are many things the TV staff could do to increase revuene. These would inlude optimizing adsense placement and joining a few CPA networks and placing relavant ads. This could be done in conjuction with OpenAds and IP targeting. I can see that Widgetbucks is at the bottom and that is a good start, however that is only effective for US IP's. Through I am not sure if TV is placing that or simply letting out the space. There are also much more effective ads that would be more targeted than this.
Essentially I would recommend to still use Adsense to a certain degree, however most of the people who are advertising on adsense are actaully just affiliates for advertiseing other peoples promotions. If you know how to find and join these promotions, TV can cut out the middleman and increase rev with increased targeting.
I would give some consulting of specfic methods if the TV staff is intrested for the price of using my affiliate link to join the programs I recommend.

A sites selling worth is 12-18 months of revune.
I understand that TV gets about 4 million page impressions per month, however more than 1/2 of those come from outside US/Eurpoe, so the value is significantly decreased.
Also taking into account that the nature of this forum means that most visitors will just blindly ignore ads (I know that Throughtout the years I have racked up 10,000+ impressions and never clicked on anything)
therefore just a wild guess in the air, I would estimate an EPM (earnings per thousand impressions) at approx $3.00-$5.00 which would make the monthy revenue approximently $15,000-$20,000.
Take the middle of this (17.5k) monthly revuenue and times by 16 to be generous and we have an estimated worth and fair sale price of $280,000
But these numbers may be off without accurate EPM numbers. If somebody can provide these numbers, I can do a more accurate calculation.

Toxic was the head of the Poilce IT department and also the authorized motorola represenative for Thailand. So he effecivly sold himself millions of dollars worth of police walkie-talkies and commication equipment at inflated rates in no-bid contracts. Not a bad start.

on a related note, they do have 3 immigration sections for arrival open at most times, so if one is packed, the other is usally empty. Just keep walking a bit.
There is the small door in between the two which was normally reserved for flight crew, however in the last few weeks the doors have been open and I have been flying through there with no wait.

It is exactly halfway inbetween the two big immigration pens. It is a single or double door and normally used for flight crews.
But latly it has been open for all who can figure it out.

I think the main issue with this case is not the fact that a person got shot. That is sad and unfortunate and there is nothing we can do about this at this point.
The main issue and source of debate is that the Pai Police did not take the facts into account during their investigation, just making up whatever lies came to their mind at the time.
the scary part is that they were expecting to get away with it, because they do this same thing every single day (all the Police in LOS)
Its only the extreme anomaly that a Falang was involved AND somehow the right people got tapped that anything is being doine about this.
It seems that the DSI is what we as westerners would consider a police force investagting and reporting on facts, whereas the offical police are nothing more than criminals in uniform.
Unofortunally it still yet remains if anything will come of this, becuase all that has to happen is one big-wig say 'STOP' and then it all stops and all things are forgotten.
What our purpose is as the international community is to continue to pressure and prove to them that if they attempt to stop this investigation that they will be suffciently embarssed and lose face so they have no choice but to follow through. Besides it would take a very large bribe to pay off this one. Have to pay better than Canada.

I havent been too impressed with BKK Airways.
Granted the lounge is a nice touch, but the CNX-BKK flight is on an old heap that takes 2 hours to get there. And the inside of the planes really arent that nice and are quite cramped.
To top it all off, both times I have flown with them (CNX-BKK) and (BKK-PNP) They have loaded us in the bus and made us wait there 15 minutes in an idleing bus filled with exhaust fumes.

A crappy travel agent (9/10) can be beat any day by online booking.
But a good and hard-working travel agent can do things that no computer has ever dreamed
espeically for those of us who want to make a single call and have it done right. (ie..no unexpected overnights)

with hill tribe girl, there is not this ingrained superiority and therefore you are two people that can help each other.
Hill tribe girls have nothing and therefore are willing to take a step into your world and really become the same as you, rather than always being on the clock.
that is of course as long as you didnt meet your hill tribe girl in pattaya, by that point it may be too late

if you want a good wife, go north - chaing mai/chaing rai and start exploring the little places, maybe even a hill tribe/burmese girl. they have a different value system which you may appreciate

I agree with the above poster. The best Kow soi in CM is the Islam place near the Mosque behind the night Bazzar. They also have fantasic lamb stew and yogurt drink as well.

off subject a bit, their is an Islam Kow Soi/Tea Shop on the 1/2 way stop between Pai and Chaing Mai that is great as well. It is the one at the end.
And in Pai its "Grandmas Kow soi", which is a little hole in the wall right in between the 'Walk-in Bar" and a phoo-phoo postcard t-shrit shop on bangkok street.

I have just come back to Bangkok from Krabi and Phi Phi and the rest. But my boyfriend and I were in Pai on the night/morning Leo del Pinto was killed. Myself and my boyfriend and a Dutch couple saw what happened or a a lot of it after the first shot. We left Pai the same morning. We have missed all this news but someone we met last night said that if we contacted here we could pass on information which might help Leo. Someone here who has contact with the Human Rights people. We do not want to talk direct initially. Maybe what we saw has been witnessed already. But we want to help. But we are leaving Thailand on Tuesday. Can u get a message thru for us. Is this u?

you know that i am good friends with a police captin, we like to go to the karaoke bar together and i helped him get some teak wood to build his house. Last night when we were out drinkning, he asked me about people that sell drugs in our village and I mentioed your name because you were driving a new truck and jsut built a new house and the only way a stupid villager such as yourself could get such things was to sell drugs.
What he didnt know was that your daughter sells her body to falang and that is where you got all your money.
nevertheless, your name is now on the list and drunk police officers dressed up in black will come to your house at 3am and shoot you in front of your family and leave a stolen pistol and a package of pills.
one hour later they will take off their black masks and come back in uniform and come back and find the pills and your body and say that a rival drug gang did the killing.
that is how is works.
