Just about to start up an export company and still have some questions.

I know that I need to register for VAT but do I have to bill it to my customers in foreign countries?

If I would have an export business in Germany the customers from foreign countries would not have to pay the VAT. But this would mean, I only have a VAT output and no input?

Anybody firm with the export business can answer my questions?

Only a 5 minutes ride behind the dept. of land transportation. I think it were 7 steps to pass.

First they guy explained where we have to drive and our group had to walk the way, which we will drive in the test. The problem was he couldn't speak English and was the first who should drive but I told him to drive as second or third and he agreed.

I could rent a pretty good and new Honda there for the fee of 50 baht.

All you have to do is to stop at the stop signs, use your light if you turn and a "slalom" (I don't know the English word for it but it is maybe the same) - You have to drive some small curves. Thats it.

I paid 205 baht for the car license and 150 baht for the motorbike license.

Today I went to the Ministry of Land Transportation to get my driving license for the car. They asked me, I want the motorbike license too and I said yes. The problem was, with my international driving license I am not allowed to drive a motorcycle. So they sent my to the 3rd floor where I had to make a theory test. I passed the test (cause it was in English :-) but tomorrow I have to go there again for a 60 minutes motorbike driving test.

The problem ist, I really don't know what I have to expect there...

I don't own a motorbike so I hope they will have one to make the test. And I hope, I don't have to drive through the traffic jam in the Sukhumvit Road in the morning... Maybe someone here made this test already and can give me some hints ?!?

Yes, the export from Thai electronic products would be suppurted by BOI.

I don't want to sell some electronic toys for 50 or 100 Bath. I want to export some special devices for example machine controllers. The cost of them are in Thailand only 25% of the European price and it is duty free to send it to the EU. So I think I could make with this some good profit.

Ok, I could open a bar but I think I should do something I have experience with.

So if the investment of 4 Mio. doesn't have to paid up in advance this could be a chance for me. Because I want to start small with low costs. If the business is running well I would invest some more.

I couldn't find some better information for the WP on the BOI webpage. But I read about that's necessary to employ 4 Thai nationals on a hompage from a German guy. He said, without this you can't get your WP.

But I think the export of electronics would be supported from the BOI, or not?

as a lot of us I am planning to open a small business in Thailand. I want to export some electronic devices. I've read a lot about it on several webpages (BOI etc.) but now I know that I have to invest about 2 Mio. to get a WP.

I have the 2 Mio. but to keep the risk low I don't want to invest it. Is it possible to open a 2 Mio. Ltd. without paying the whole amount?

I know that I will need 4 Thai employees to get my WP. Also it should be no problem for me to pay the tax for my 50`000 Bt. income (I am from Europe). But I want to start small and minimize the risk of loosing a lot of money.

Last time when I went to BKK I wanted to open a bank account too. I came therer with a tourist visa and didn't had a w.p.

I just asked in a lot of different banks about a savings account with visa electron.

After 4 or 5 visits in different banks I could open an account at the Kasikorn bank.

It was very easy and the staff was very helpful.

You just need:

- Passport

- Adress in Thailand (maybe you can use a hotels adress too)
