  1. Hi all,

I need to find a website (preferably Thai, but readable in English) which I can use to buy a TV as a gift for someone in Thailand.

I'm on the other side of the world, and would like the TV to be delivered to their house, most preferably asap as I've left the gift buying a little late, and it could take weeks from another country.

Anyone have any ideas? I can't find many online shopping websites in Thailand which fit the bill.

I'm not looking for a flashy tv, a decent sized crt will do.

    Cheers guys :o

  2. Thanks very much for the advice. I really appreciate it.

As for the ATM card, it's not big deal. It's not a matter of mistrust or anything like that, it's just how I have my savings account and it works as a big plus not being able to get at it!

So it looks like it's just a normal savings account, I was thinking along similar lines as you for the incentive stuff, and having the password to check it out.

Is there an order or preference for thai bank accounts? Who has a good internet banking system? No account keeping fees?

  3. I'm want to set up a new bank account for my girlfriend so that she has something to put a little bit of money away in to, away from her day to day savings account. My thoughts are to get her in to the habit of a budget, even if it's only putting away a little for herself, instead of asking me for money all the time! If she does a half decent job at it, I don't mind contributing to the account as a reward.

Where I'm from we have these great ING accounts which get decent interest, no account keeping fees and I do all the banking totally online (no ATM withdrawals possible).

I want to set up something similar for her with the following features:

    - No account keeping fees

    - No minimum monthly investment

    - No ATM withdrawals (IMPORTANT!) - internet banking only, money can be transferred to and from other accounts whenever needed

    - Interest rate isn't that important as I assume it's all pretty low in Thailand

Can anyone suggest such an account? I've checked Ayudhya and Bangkok Bank and they don't seem to have a product that matches what I need. ING don't seem to offer this in Thailand (although they do operate in Thailand). I'm looking at HSBC now for what I need, but would like to know what my other options are.

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Hi all,

I'm trying to help my girlfriend to find a job in Bangkok. I'm set to relocate there in 6 months time and want her to be in Bangkok when I get there. She's there at the moment but if she doesn't find a job soon she will have to move away.

I've known her for 1 year and she is an extremely hard working girl. Her previous jobs include managing a small bar for a medium sized hotel in Phuket, and more recently in an office admin role for a new condo development project in Bang Tao. She can provide references for both jobs.

I'm hoping there are some members here who are in a position to help out, it would mean a great deal to both of us. Ideally, a job in the hotel industry or an office admin role would suit her.

She has not completed high school but is working to have this finished on the weekends, and I think her experience more than qualifies her for the targeted roles. Her English is at a good level and at her last 2 jobs she worked with a foreign boss to whom she reported directly to.

I hope there is somewhere here who is in a position to help, or know of someone who can. You would be doing us an almighty favour.

Please PM me if you can help out.
