...or the uncouth lout thinks that his body is so wonderful that they should display it and others should be forced to 'admire' it.  There is no other reason to do it, surely?

It is a lack of self-confidence and an attention seeking disorder.

They will proclaim that, "they don't care what other people think", whereas in fact, in all cases, it is exactly the opposite.

The poor guys need to have someone notice that they exist.

That is a good reason not to do it.. respect.

Guess some people from a certain non class structured country have never heard about this.

Nah, some people have class and some people are just bogans.

I was out for dinner last night at an open air moo Gata restaurant.

3 Asian men came in (Korean) sat down to eat and 2 of them had removed their shirts.

They even went back to buffet topless.

    Nothing was said to them.

    ????

    Thai society is essentially non-confrontational.

Nothing may have been said, but thoughts and opinions will have been formed.

Foreigners get a lot of leeway because they are seen as either temporarily here or not part of the Thai society and culture.

Has anybody seen evidence of a safety campaign? All I hear about is crackdowns.
I don't watch the TV a great deal but I don't think that it is being used nearly enough to demonstrate how badly people are driving. If a proffessional approach to driving could be engendered in the population then safety would follow.
TV, You Tube, Facetime, are all available to make people aware of what. they are doing wrongly but seldom used. A driver's awareness programme like You've Been Framed might be popular. On You Tube it could make money for someone with talent.
Why not take actual accidents and analyse them? I suppose that they would have to be historical for the sake of justice but non the less useful for that.
Good high profile examples could be the killing of two students backended in the left/slow lane, the killing of pedestrians at a bus stop could be another, to get the show on the road.
I can't understand why it hasn't been done already, is it liable or slander laws which prevents this approach?

Last time I renewed my driving license I had to sit through an hout or so of a road safety film. It was on an endless loop. I found it quite good.

The Thais who were also present were

    - asleep

    - looking out of the window

    - texting on the mobile phones

    - chatting

I don't think that Thais can be taught anything because of the huge loss of face it implies in admitting ignorance.

Didn't coincide with a change in beer brands, did it?   Or a change in your brand's taste, indicating they changed the mix?   It may not be age.

I don't think so. It is a known issue of getting older, along with bunch more.

But it might be worth experimenting.............

Indeed, the idea appeals so much that it will become my New Year's Resolution. :burp:

If the Thai government is monitoring sites like ours (and I'm fairly certain they are), why not try to open a channel to forward positive, productive suggestions with an official government receipt acknowledged through the channel?

    :cheesy:

You have surely not been in Thailand very long.

A Thai official listening to, accepting and acknowledging advice issued by a foreigner is a concept that no Thai will be able to wrap their his/her around.

Or when we could drink large amounts without feeling the after effects. LOL.

Yep, this is a total bummer nowadays. Must have been around my mid-fifties when I noticed I was not exactly very chirpie in the morning after just a couple of beers.

As I like to have a couple in the evening for relaxation to get me to sleep, the muggy head is the penalty I have to put up with.

But four large beers wipes out the whole of the next day.

  8. Well, its 10:30 am and so far everybody is in virtuous mode and claim to not drink and drive.

    Hmmm.

I guess the drinkers and drivers are all still recovering in bed from last night and will be up around lunch time to make their contributions.

    :cheesy:

My personal observation where I live is that 99% of guys who venture out in the evening, have a meal or visit a bar, drink and drive. Indeed I know a number of bikers. None of them go to a bar and not drink and ride. None whatsoever.

They created a new currency out of nothing, which is pretty illegal in most countries , but this one is heavy encrypted and only on the illusive internet. Als long as the price goes up , or stays relatively the same , there are no losers . The last buyers , that pay for crypto's at these prices ( or higher ) , will be to losers if they step out . But isn't this with nearly all investments ? Crypto's and the underlying blockchain , is here to stay in one way or another . And while it seems anti bank , anti tax , anti controle , it's just one more way governments are easing us away from a cash based society. Eventually they will find more ways to control all these crypto currencies .

It is being defined as a commodity, not a currency.

There are now over 1,300 cryptos in existence.

Krabi immigration is notoriously slow so try and get off the plane quickly.  AirAsia flights normal get a remote stand and you will be bussed to terminal 1 so stand near the doors to get off first.

Checked in luggage is normally quick but customs X-ray almost everyone’s carry on bags.

You check in for Thai Smile upstairs in terminal 1 then need to walk to terminal 2 which is only about 5 minutes away.

securit screening is usually quite quick at terminal 2.

I have been through Krabi immigration a few times. Never found them slow, nor had to put up with the log jam I have encountered in Don Muang. Also you are the first person that I have heard saying they are "notoriously slow". Maybe you have turned up on a very busy day?

Indeed the last time was two months ago, through in a flash.

Indeed. They are getting much smarter at cross referencing all the government departmental data bases.

If you claim a UK address with the DLVC to renew a license and are registered as non resident with HMRC for tax, you might raise a flag somewhere!

The UK address requirement is not only for renewal, it applies even if you change your address temporarily inside the UK. Currently GBP 1,000 fine for not informing them where you live. Declaring an incorrect address on the renewal form is tantamount to fraud, and subject to criminal charges.

I did not renew this year because it is only a matter of time before all this information is tied together and they start sieving through it.

Imm. will sometimes let you report much earlier than 14 days before, if you are doing an extension at the same time, in order to align the dates...

Although if you do 90 day reports on line you loose 1-2 weeks each time and so will be out of phase again come the following year.

OP could simply do his 90 day report on-line to save any potential future hassles.

The enlightened immigration officers where I extend my retirement visa have for the last couple of years simultaneously issued a new 90 day report slip.

Is the online reporting now working?

Never worked for me, and I tried multiple times for a year ot two and then gave up.

I'd like to add one more option to those listed in my post #4 above as a reason for which a border immigration official could cause you and your child trouble on an attempted visa-exempt run:

    3. deny you and your child entry because you have no written consent of the child's mother to travel with the child abroad.

I doubt if that applies when the kid is travelling on an EU passport, only when using the Thai passport. TIT.
