  1. This is 2 floors, 2x2 and there is no way it is faster or cheaper to build a house, and containers you just move when needs, hard to do that with a house.

Cutting out for windows and doors is done in hours, building walls on a house takes a bit longer, all the other things needs to be done in any other home as well so no difference.

Better build a wall around then so nothing gets in under, do want them up a bit for flood protection and access to pipes and connections under.

I'm really only concerned about the need for piling, and hope I do not need that, the weight per square meter will be about 350 kg, not very much, and even with other things added no more than 450 kg per square meter

  2. Hi, would be Lat Krabang area, about needed piling or not. I see many just put them on concrete blocks as they so light compared to a house, and to only be standing there 3-5 years should make so they don't sink. But again want to hear some opinions about that

  3. Hi, I am looking to place some shipping containers as temp house for a few years. 2x2 40' containers. I was checking about foundation and piling, was hoping piling was not needed as they only weight about 3500 kg each, maybe 4500 krgwhen loaded with beds etc, so much lighter than normal hoses. Will just a good size concrete base and then a pillar be enough, was thinking 9 to 12 pillars with 1 square meter bases, 1 in each corner and 1-2 under, divided by the length of the 40' container.

Please let me know what you guys think

  4. Yes I was thinking of NTF but I didn't have enough space ready, and the plants were not waiting so had to do something for the space I had. Maybe get the pots to the right and make slots with soldering iron. PITA but what to do.

How about coco fibers on the sides and coco coir in the middle, that way the fibers would hold it in the pots

If you are using grow towers with net pots a mix of perlite and coir would be much cheaper and reusable. Rockwool is one shot and throw away. The RW (insulation grade) you got might have a fire retardant in it compared to a grodan or similar garden use RW. You shouldnt be using drippers for your nutrient feed lines so just put a net or screen around your pump to catch any sediment from the coir and perlite until the system settles down.

Thank you, well they talked about that they added fire retardant, but why do that, normal RW do not burn as well, it's made from stone after all. I also asked RW in Sweden but not even they know what would be different here.

I'm worried to use coir as the holes in my net pots are up to 9mm wide and 30 mm long, 12 of those on the sides and 6  9x15mm holes in the bottom

Maybe some coco fibers and the coir ?? Hydroton is cheap as well, 500 b for 50 L bags

Attach pic of my net pots, the one to the left

  6. Hi all, well I went to look today but was not able to get any RW :( the RW here in Thiland had some added chemicals they said and could not pick up water. But the little sample bit i got get socked after I held it under water for some time, so not sure what to make out of it. Calling to Sweden now to get more info about it.

If can use I will have to order and order a lot, so I hope some other people are open to buying from me, I will be able to deliver all over thailand, but yeah, not so cheap.

If can not use I will have to order 1 container, but then can custom order, cubes or what ever, not just rolls or slabs.

So please let me know what you guys thinks, anyone interested ??

  7. Hi, I am doing a hydroponics test with some strawberries in grow towers and looking for the grow medium. is  Rockwool or Coco coir the better choice here in Thailand, and where can I find it ??

Im in Rayong area and need enough for 1000 net pots. I'm sure coco coir is easier to find, but sometimes it is not clean. So any info appreciated

  8. Thank you Rice, do I need all things you listed ?? I don't see all of it in the formula I got !!

    Solubor, borax and Moly.

I think I will try to make 2000 L first and see, so I have some shopping to do and need to calculate all the amounts, not used to ppm :(

  9. Thank you, yeah I want to try to make my own mix, this what I found on a very good site and should work for Thailand, but 10,000 L is a bit much for me, my tank will be 2000 L maximum just to make sure the mix stay as stable as possible

For a recirculating system like NFT, the following nutrient protocol can be followed. It is important that a water test is conducted before using any solution and appropriate adjustments are made as per the analysis in the test report.

    Nitrogen(Nitrate) – 160 ppm

    Nitrogen (Ammonium) – 15ppm

    Phosphate – 50ppm

    Potassium – 210

    Calcium – 190ppm

    Magnesium – 50ppm.

    Fe- 6ppm, Bo-0.5ppm, Mn-0.5ppm, Cu=0.1ppm, Mo, 0.05ppm, Zn, 0.08ppm

The micronutrient mix is mixed as above.

Mixing this will result in a solution of EC 1.8-2.0 provided the base water has less salinity. The ideal conductivity for strawberry is 1.2-1.5 during growth phase and 1.8-2.5 during fruiting phase. Higher the temperature, lesser the EC.

Hope that tells you more than me haha, and I should be able to get it all from Wesco

  10. Hi Rice555 and thank you, sorry I didn't get notification that someone replied and with everything else going on in Thailand and here right now I didn't check. But I did find pots that I hope will work. They will be used in NFT and I found same as you posted, the more open model 1400 b for 1000 and the other one 5b for 4.

I hope you can help me with an other thing for hydroponics, I will do strawberries in strawberry towers and looking for solutions to be used in my water, MaxiGrow and others can't be found here I guess, so what do you suggest and for 1000 strawberry plants how big water tanks should I use ?? I read online and people talking about about 2 liters per plant. Any comments on that ??

    Regards Micael
