  1. I walk every morning and have a problem with some dogs. I carry a bit of bamboo with me they bark and growl but won’t come near me. Before I use to carry a small taser with me I found they not like the noise and run the other way and if they do come close enough just zap them. I m waiting for my new one to arrive.

We live in Bangkok and last had our house exterior painted 12 years ago, so it's due to a re-paint.

I have a trusted chang who has done lots of work for us before at good local prices and he'll do the work for me, but I told him I'd source the paint.

As this is a big purchase of paint (covering about 750 sq m) I'd like some guidance from forum members about which brand of paint to use? My default would be either Dulux Weathershield or TOA Supershield, but I've not had to decorate for a while so I'm a bit out of touch with what's best (and best value).

Whilst I've bought paint from a local paint shop in the past, and from Homepro I've not paid that much attention to their respective differences in price, but given the quantity I'll need for this job I'm a bit more focused on cost - I'm guessing I may be able to get a reasonable discount from the paint shop (and I'm keen to support smaller businesses), but will Homepro etc always undercut these places given their mass market volume?

    Thoughts appreciated!

I used deltashield to repaint my house 3.5 year ago now. I did the job myself. Sanded everything used  delta sealer and primed. Then 2 top coats. Still shining

Please can you post a scan of your current bill and one you are comparing with?

The only recent changes have been Ft (and an Ft rebate for low users). If "other costs" are doubling you may have a billing issue.

I’m not in Thailand at the moment. I’ll see if the wife can send them

How the ..... did you come to that conclusion??

VAT is still the same at 7%

Ft Charge was still the same at 0,93430 THB per UNit

Edit: Electricity prices (basic) haven't changed (AFAIK) since November 2015 (the only thing changed / added since then is the Ft (Fuel surcharge) )

Our bill was still 4.2 baht per unit but all other costs had doubled. That’s how I ……… came to that conclusion

Your marriage certificate (if in Thailand it’s the pretty one) will be needed and probably a letter in Thai from your wife in Thai. The letter is required in the Tokyo embassy.

    Thanks Ubonjoe ????

The marriage certificate is a must and the letter from your wife.

it does not need to be written in Thai. When I started doing my spouse visa’s I just typed a letter out and my wife signed it. I also put my wife phone number on it. Never had a problem

FWIW. In Udon Thani the 60 day extension is not added to your current extension. It will start the day you apply so you will loose any remaining time on your current extension (I have personal experience earlier this week so this information is accurate at this time). I do not know if this a normal condition or if it is an interpretation specific to the current staff in Udon Thani @ubonjoe a comment on this extension date would be appreciated.

Also in the past in Udon Thani the maximum time you could apply for an extension was 30 days before, this has now changed and the will accept it up to 45 days early

I did my extension in Udon Thani a month ago and the 60 day extension was add from the last day of previous visa.

  7. Hi all

just wanting information on marriage extension. This will be my first time. My 3 month finish on the 3rd of March. When can I start to apply for it.
I usually do 3 months here then 3 months in Australia for the last 15 years. Due to the COVID situation I haven’t been here for 2 years so I want to spend 6 months with the family.
Is there other options for getting an extra 3 months. Without going the marriage extension route.
    kind regards

  8. Hi all.
This will be my first time do extension. My 3 months is up on the 3 of March. Just wondering when I need to apply for extension. Is it still 400000 baht in the bank 2 months prior.
I only want to stay until the 30th of May as I have to go back to work.

is there an easier option for me to stay until then without doing marriage extension

    thanks

  9. Hello

i come here for 3 months twice a year. I say at our house in Udon Thani.

I put that address on the arrival card.

My question is do I need to inform the local immigration office where I’m staying. One of my wife’s friends is saying that I should.

    Many info would be appreciated.

    Cheers

If what you say is correct .....

"Every country tries to screw the tourist"

Then why is it only 2000 Bt. in Pattaya......if it is 5000Bt. in Krabi

        No tourists in Pattaya?

I’d like to see what you were riding in Pattaya for 66baht a bay

  11. Hello Surin13,

i just received or visas to go to Australia and would just like to say thanks for the great advice you gave me. I was just wondering they sent the visas via email do I just print them of and use them when entering Australia or do I need to go to the embassy and get some sort of visa put in my wife’s passport.

    Thanks once again

    Depends.

    Does she a Thai passport?

Is the father the legal father, ie, were the step-daughters parents legally married

If they were then yes you will need his permission to get a passport and leave the country. You can get a letter of consent done by the father at the Amphur where the child/father is registered. (check with them for the requirements as it can vary)

If they weren't you need to get Por Kor 14 letter from the Amphur to get a passport, it can also be used as permission to leave the country.

You will also have to supply it (consent) for her Tourist visa to Australia.

That being said, if the girl is traveling with the mother, most often they wouldn't be asked for consent from the father at Thai immigration.

Thank you again for the info. We already got a passport for her. My wife was never legally married. It sound like we shouldn't have a problem. Thanks again for the great advice.
