I think is is a little early to be worrying about that.

You would get 30 day entries that can be extended for 30 days for a fee of 1900 baht. So 4 months per calendar year by land or 60 days for each one by air. By air you could have problems after doing a few of them by air and could be denied entry.

Best is to get single entry tourist visas that allows a 60 day entry that can be extended for 30 days.

    Hi Joe,

Would you need to show an onward flight ticket coming in on a 60 day Tourist Visa?  Then when you extend for 30 days would there be any further requirement for onward departure flight out of Thailand?

    Many thanks.

  2. What lunatic in the TAT thought this one up. Thousands of bikes jamming the roads which cannot cope and threatening neighbourhoods with frightening roars, Should be banned!

Exactly ! Now after three days of these tatooed hooligans (some 300 of the a---holes) clattering around the island and clogging up the few roads that exist on Samui, it is hardly worth venturing out. Just a bunch of ego saturated low lifes with a "look at me, aint I cool" attitude. Not the quality type tourist Samui needs or deserves !

Thats the ticket....live and let live!!!

So its hardly worth going out because for around thirty seconds a day you have to put up with the sound of a few motorbike engine. cheesy.gif

    Tattooed hooligans!!!! laugh.png

    Tattooed hooligans!!!!

Doesn't that cover 95% 0f the demographic? Bloody people with tattoos they are the problem for sure, lets get immigration onto people with tattoos, that'll solve all the problems on the island. Moronic and xenophobic springs to mind.

  3. Never heard of either the two names on Samui... and rumors... never! laugh.png

but good old Google comes up with this.... in, Plai Lam

The other looks like down in the SW corner,

Perhaps a classic misspell? of Tanode ?

I've heard some of my Thai friends refer to the headland opposite Replay as Mai Kaen (excuse my attempt at spelling), could it be here that they are talking about?

  4. No, that's 'rumour control'!

Here's what a tannoy waggon looks like:

How did non Brits fare re the short back & sides? smile.png

There was one of these (didn't quite look as cool but had PEA on the side) driving down the ghost road this morning saying something about "Prung Nee bla bla bla in Thai, couldn't understand the rest" Has anyone heard if the electric is going to be off in Bangrak area tomorrow, Tuesday 29th Sept?

  5. I know what you're saying regarding the 30 day border run, i think that route has run its course and wasn't really an option I considered.

Back to school it is I think.

You could try Mind Your Language in Bophut, my friend does the course and got the Ed Visa from there and it all worked very smoothly. Owners name is Jom (very nice guy), you can just google Mind Your Language Samui

and contact details should come up.

  6. Hi Junglechef, the track near Lae Lae in Bangrak is more than 100m long now. It was extended a few years ago to host a mountain bike race that attracted quite a few people from off the island. 2 years ago they extended it further and you can enter form the Bandon soi between the hospital and the international school. These trails link up across to Bangrak and through to Big C as someone else mentioned. There are 3 different levels of trail (nothing like flowy stuff really but decent) that you can follow markers for. My 11 year ole has ridden quite a few of them and you can spend a good few hours messing around trying different trails and linking up different sections to your liking and level of riding.

Definitely worth a pedal around if you want trail riding.

  7. Tanks and artillery for Children's Day! What could be more perverse? Perhaps they should show graphic vids of what battle tanks and such do to towns and human flesh.

Or should we wrap them in bubble wrap and give them candy all day and not let them see the world as it really is?

Really, there are tank and war museums all around the world that serve to act as an educational tool and reminder to everyone what our countrymen (and I mean all countries) have done for us in the past wars, is this perverse also, I don't think so!

Maybe you should stick to what your screen name says you do best buddy.

  8. I seen a bike with sidecar ( salang ) today selling kebabs, near the wharf where the people comeback from KPG.

I would guess that would be Achim (or Ackim as his sign says). Very nice German guy with a Thai missus who do very decent chicken kebabs. He moves up and down through Bangrak either near The Boat Bar at Seatran or outside one of the bars near the Big Buddha Pier.

The other farang I have ssen selling food is the combi van parked near Tesco as you come out to the ring road at the Homepro end, I think he is French and does burgers, fries and salads. According to my son the burgers are excellent!

  9. If it is the orange sign as you are heading towards Bophut then he is good. His name is Boyd and there is another thread on here recommending him, I took my out of warranty iMac to him and he sorted it out for me no problem at all. I know you have the warranty for a reason but if it's a choice of sending it off to BKK for god knows how long or getting it sorted here then it's up to you. I don't think he can offer to cover it under the Apple warranty but has been good and honest in my experience.

I saw a shop yesterday, quite by accident, driving on the ring road from Tesco Lotus towards Big C. Maybe about half way a small sign that says "Mac Service and Repair" or similar. It's on the left hand side. No idea about quality or proficiency, but maybe worth a look.
