  1. Lamai Perfect resort is in my opinion defiinitely the best place to stay in Lamai. Big and nice clean rooms, humongous beds, very friendly staff and prices well within your budget. Rooms start at 800 baht!

Hi Perkie where did you get 800 baht from on there website it saying 1200-1500

Hey I got married here on Koh Samui last month and I had some friends over from England for the day so needed to find them somewhere to stay. One of my friends suggested there so I went in and asked for the prices. The rooms start at 800 baht and for that you get a balcony room with a humongous bed and clean bathroom. The room was pretty big for a hotel room and the lady who owned it was super friendly. I live in Namuang but I even booked a room there for the week with my friend to save on the taxi fare each day to Lamai and back. Definitely worth popping in for a look and right in the centre of town too, though still set back off the road enough to be quiet! Will definitely go back there again!

  2. Hi everyone.

Thank you so much for all the replies. The wedding party is for 40 people but we can cut the people on the boat down to 15 if needs be. I have followed up a few of the comments on here, still have a few people to phone etc to try and find one with an affordable price. Have had some great ideas too from H20 Dunc (have emailed you not sure you got it) and others on here, though not sure I want to take everyone on the seatran for a day haha.

If anyone else knows of any boats please let me know, any phone numbers people have sent me I will start phoning tomorrow for costs etc. Thanks again :)

  3. Hi guys. I am getting married 14th February and we had planned to get married on a boat. When we went to pay today the owner had decided to increase the price by almost double what we had arranged and so now we are left with 3 weeks to find somewhere to get married. Does anyone know anyone who hires boats out? We would ideally like one for the afternoon of 14th February just to sail around the island for a few hours. There are approximately 40 people attending. Really hope someone can help! :)

  4. Hi I am looking for a make up and hair stylist who would be able to work for a wedding. I need someone who can ideally do the hair and make up for the bride, 3 bridesmaids, and the mother of the bride on 14th February this year. I have no idea who to ask or if any salons would also be able to do this? I would ideally like someone to come to a hotel and do everyone there. Hope someone can help.

  5. Hi am thinking about going to Koh Phangan for the night tonight and looking online it says the last ferry from Samui is the Haadrin Queen ferry. The website says it leaves from Big Buddha port but can anyone confirm where this is? Is it the port in Bangrak where the dive boats leave from in the mornings? Thanks for any replies!

  6. Lets drop the personal antagonism here, no one wants to read it, you can agree to disagree without having to call into question every detail of someone's life.

No antagonism on my part either. Would be nice to just write a post and not have to defend everything I say. I have been helped a lot on this forum, was just trying to do the same in return.

  7. Listen, you say you are a dive master and you know the best places, but you have never been at your recomendation "Silver Beach" and said also, that you do not know Matlang.

I have stated this and said my boyfriend has been whom I trust. The op said she was going to check it out for herself. I was just trying to help. You have a problem with that?

And, by being a major business partner with major diving schools around the area since appr.20 years, maybe also with yours, I certainly know, that the diving schools bring their customers mainly to Koh Tao, where all the dive boats are and where it is best.

I have also already said this if you read my above posts.

But I also know, that Angthong is not too bad too, compared with Samui. Have snorkeled there at least a dozen times in the past 20 years

Everytime I have been to Angthong it has been murky and shocking for snorkelliung. Im sick of defending myself and for what? my age as you stated previously. I am not instructing people what to do was just trying to help out. The op seemed quite happy with my suggestions.

    I live on Samui.

Congratulations so do I. Wouldnt have responded if I didnt.

  8. Next time you are welcome to copy and paste my posting about your Silver Beach. Fist time I snorkeled there, you were not yet on this planet, perkie.

I have snorkeled next to the cliffs behind the Peninsula to the East of Choeng Mon, Matlang, Coral Cove, Hin Ta Hin Yai, Tongkruth... everywhere over the years and I can tell Samui is not a great place for snorkeling.

Much better in the NW of Koh Phnagan, some places at the Angthong Marine Park and best in the Samui archipelago at Koh Tao & Koh Nang Yuang of course. (But even that can't beat Similan, Tarutao or places near Koh Kood)

Woah chillax!!! I'm a dive master and I also know the best places for diving and snorkelling around here. If you read my earlier posts you will see I suggested to the OP that Samui is not the best place for snorkelling but as she just wanted a day out I recommended 'Silver Beach'. My boyfriend has been there recently and is great for fish. The internet also seems to agree.

Angthong Marine Park is not a good place for snorkelling and we generally do not take people there unless they really want to go as the visibility is rubbish - about 1 metre! I have already mentioned about Koh Tao being the best place near to Samui for snorkelling.

Next time I'll keep my mouth shut instead of trying to help people. After all that is what I thought this forum was for. Stop living in the past and take a chill pill. Sounds to me like you need one!

  9. Silver Beach / Tongtakien bay

This beautiful little bay is located just off the main road as you come down the hill into north Lamai from Chaweng. There are three resorts on the beach, so it can get crowded in high season, but it is well worth a visit for the stunning scenery. Crystal blue waters and white sand, bordered by craggy limestone rock formations and verdant hills: the archetypal Thai beach.

The water is shallow at low tide and there is only one area good for bathing, (to the left of the bay) but once you have waded out, the water is wonderful and there are some fish around the rocks and reef for snorkellers to follow.

  10. Where is Silver Beach? Can someone answer that, please... It would be nice to try something different, close to home!

Silver Beach is close to Lamai. I am not too good with directions so I hope this helps. Leave the Lamai Beach road, past the drunken sailor etc. and you will arrive on the ring road. Turn right and follow the ring road on the way to Chaweng. Now you will find that there is quite a big hill going downwards not far from leaving Lamai and there is a big sign advertising Coco's supermarket. If you keep looking to your right around here there are a few beach restaurants but also signs advertising Silver Beach. If my direction are rubbish maybe someone else will be able to help or I can ask my boyfriend to describe it better later...

  11. Thank you for all your replies. I will check out the places people have mentioned on Samui and also the ones from the PM's I have got. It's not so much that I am lost on Samui, I know Lamai quite well but not really anywhere else at the moment; and with no transport we are relying on one of our friends to help us find a bike on his days off. I think I would definitely be lost on the mainland though it is always an option if I cannot find anything here. Thanks again :)
