  1. I have a Non O Retirement Visa issued in December 2018.  I’m starting a new job in BKK and have just returned from KL with a Non Imm B Visa for the work permit.

The IO at Don Mueang asked me on arrival which visa I wanted to enter on and I told her the Non B.

I had been led to believe that the retirement visa would have been cancelled upon issuance of the Non B.

Does this mean that the retirement visa will remain valid until its expiry in Dec 2019, even though I’m now here on the Non Imm B?

This would be handy if the new job isn’t what I hope it to be.

    Thx for any further insight.

  2. Hello Gents. I got this reply from the consulate when I sent them an email. This answers the question as some of you guys advised.

"In regards of the request for Mult entry visa will be issue only to applicant who are working in Singpore and they need to go and enter Thailand just for a short trip discussion with the counter part in Thailand, for all workpermit holder of Thailand need to purchase only at our Immigration office of Re-entry counter for the multi entry visa request".

Thanks for your assistance. It's nice to be able to bounce things around on a balanced forum.

  3. Anyone been to Singapore in the last month to get a non imm B visa renewal. I usually go to Oz this time of year but no need this time. Have other business in Singapore and thought I would kill 2 birds with one stone. Searching TV doesn't show up any recent comments. Would appreciate any information with regard to them asking for paperwork other than the 'usual' requirements. Thanks in advance.

  4. I had a chance to look Channel News Asia and this propaganda channel broadcasted none-stop when Uncle Harry's expired.

Now they ask Singaporeans to slow down after they have been shown nonestop on any channels within the Republic that Harry was special.

I personally liked LKY but the way they blow up the case in Singapore is just like Jesus just departed from Singapore.

    Are you on something????

  5. Ranong (mid south west coast Thailand) has a Port actively supporting the local gas/oil fields. One cannot understand why the Thai Government wants to invest in Dawei (Burma) when they have a Port in place in Thailand that only needs an upgrade and the channel deepened in some spots and it will suffice. The highways from Bangkok are dual carriageway to Chumpon and they are slowly making duel carriegeway from Chumpon to Ranong. Better to invest money in Thailand and keep jobs for Thais (or Burmese slave labor) I would have thought.

Extract from the Ranong Port Website below:

On March 25, 2003, the Cabinet approved of the Port Authority of Thailand to manage and operate Ranong Port. It is aimed to be the main port for marine cargo transport in the Andaman coast, linking trade routes with countries in South Asia, Middle East, Europe and Africa.

spacer.gifThe first-phase Ranong Port which accommodate 2 cargo ships of less than 500 gross tons that will not well suit the growing international trade in west-bound routes. Thus, the Marine Department constructed the second-phase Ranong Port to accommodate a larger cargo vessel of 12,000 deadweight tons.

spacer.gifState agencies responsible for the development of basic infrastructures and public utilities, as well as international trade in both central and provincial areas have jointly developed the second-phase port to ensure maximum capability of this new gateway.

spacer.gifThe port development is the key strategy to enable Ranong Province to be marine cargo transport hub in the Andaman sea.

spacer.gifAs a result, it should be deemed that Ranong Port has been constructed with a pool of cooperation from all sectors. The second-phase port was officially opened for services on July 2006.

  6. It's not completely impossible...

    (Rural Chiang Rai in 1955)

That taught me a few new words in Thai language, so have to thank you, kind sir; The words were 'Hima' as in snow and 'thok' as to fall, and also made me wonder whoever has transliterated the word seiayang to chiang - all new stuff for my brain to try and wrap around, especially after a loooong evening with beverages giggle.gif

I still hope that no 'hima thok' for the next years to come w00t.gif

It is Chiang Rai. There is a very small difference between a 'ch' and a 's'.

  7. I don't think we will ever truthfully know who killed the two Brits. The 2 burmese will most definitely walk anyway with a good lawyer. Their lawyer should be able to totally discredit the 'DNA process', as well as other questionable pieces of evidence.

It is debatable whether it was still relevant to test the headman's son's DNA. The 'only' way that any DNA test will be credible is if the 'original' samples taken from the body were not contaminated, substituted or planted and the police can conclusively prove this and the continuity of the evidence. It doesn't matter how many people they test if the original DNA are suspect.

Seminal DNA will not prove murder. The lawyer could suggest consensual sex prior to the murder???????.

There are so many negatives in this investigation it is a Defense Lawyers dream.

Guilty or not. Any good lawyer will get these two off and that will be the biggest miscarriage of justice of all time if they did it, compliments of the BIB.

  8. Has anyone seen any suggestion anywhere that either of the two accused is some kind of martial arts expert capable (as the RTP claims) of single handedly killing a much bigger and stronger opponent without suffering any injury himself?

Hasn't anyone seen a young, small framed Burmese after a session on 1-2-call (this concoction of Kratom Leaf, powder from flourescent tubes, sansom, M150). That packs a wild punch and gives them phenomenal strength and destroys their ability to think straight. I witnessed it several times in my restaurant, even the most gentile of my staff. Similar effects from the Ya Ba. I wouldn't hang my hat on the fact they were 'too small' to do it.

  9. Keep an open mind gents! I recall a case in Canberrra Australia many years ago where a panel van was found in the bush with two decapitated teens in it. At first we thought it was a gruesome murder but after some time their heads were found tangled amongst the bedding in the back of the van. They had tied a rope around their necks and accelerated the car and both the ropes pulled taught at the same time ripping their heads off. The ropes recoiled and were hidden in the bush and the car continued until it hit another tree. As the scene was 'a crime scene' forensic officers were called in and it wasn't until an inspection 'inside' the car, some hours later, the heads were found.

Although it is not likely in this case, it is not totally impossible if they jumped from the mast. Not saying they did, just trying to broaden peoples outlook on things.

  10. Myanmar Andaman Resort is the only one I am aware of, apart from the liveaboards from Thailand.

The Burmese still fish using dynamite from small boats, which I was told is sourced from Thailand. It adds an interesting new underwater experience to hear the explosions and feel the shock waves. The coral destruction and of course the dead fish are not so attractive.

Macro life is good, soft corals are plentiful, but the place is over fished.

If you are a keen fishing net specialist, there are any number of 'lost' nets wrapped around the rocks too.

    AIDC Dive in Ranong, Thailand.

They have an excellent liveaboard and have been diving in Myanmar for many years. Preben the owner is from Denmark and knows his stuff in Burma.

  11. A few years ago there was a story about a bar owner in Phuket who was arrested for sitting on the customer side of the bar and talking to customers. He was charged with working without a permit on the basis that he was actively "marketing" the bar while sitting and talking to customers. He was deported and lost everything.

It would seem that the laws are such that if you get on anyone's shit list anywhere, they can "tip off" authorities and have you busted and deported for essentially doing nothing. Perhaps someone wants your bar or guesthouse; perhaps your wife wants you gone; perhaps you didn't pay the local police enough... whatever. The fact is, there is NO protection under the law in Thailand. It doesn't matter if you have family here that you are supporting, that you are paying taxes here, hiring and paying Thai's an actual living wage, building a successful business, etc. Nothing matters; there is simply no protection under the law.

This man may have gotten on a black list for one or more very undesirable things--we cannot know. But what we can see and know is that the same thing could happen to most any of us if anyone had it out for us for any reason: an unhappy neighbor, envy, jealousy, an unhappy employee who was actually expected to work, etc. It is one of many things that make it difficult for me to be optimistic about Thailand's future.

There 'is' protection under Thai Law. It's called 'follow the law'. If you have all the correct permits etc, then you are legal.
