  1. Nobody else it telling them! Basically I think it is better to talk first instead of reporting immediately to the authorities and I haven't been aware that the responsibility is at the Tessaban or puu yai bann, but now I know, thanks.

Our problem is that they light the fire every day at dusk, this is the time when it starts to cool down and it would be nice to enjoy the dinner outside, but due to the toxic smell it is just impossible.

    cheers

  2. as all expats know the air quality in CNX is many times poor and unfortunately the days with good air and low PM 2.5 reading are getting less year by year.

I am just wondering how is the legal side of burning the garbage day by day. It is kind a understandable that people burn their leaves and branches in their back yards, it is smoking and rising the PM 2.5 but somehow it is the nature cycle and the old generation is used to it. I can somehow go with that, but we have in the near neighborhood a house they seen to work for construction and they burn on a regular basis polystyrene, plastic, tires, saw them once to poor color into fire etc., no need to mention how it smokes and even worse how it smells, real toxic from time to time.

several times I did drive there and tried to explain them, but as it is sometimes, the guy who is running it, is resistant and doing it again and again. Missus has troubles with doing something against it since it is not nice.

Any suggestions what to do, how to respond, what can I do as a foreigner without making it worse??

Perhaps we are not the only once facing this problem and others can get ideas as well.

Again we not complain about the bbq smoke, wood fire or smoking green leaves which don't burn at all.

  3. here the update as mentioned in my last post

at 9:15 we did arrive at the Chiang Mai immigration today, I got queue number 3098 and they have been processing 3041, it was very busy, but we understood that most have been for Covid-extension. After my wife told an immigration officer that we intend to do 60-days extension we have been directed to a different counter, paper we had:

    - Passport copy, page with arrival stamp copy and TM30 copy

    - application form for extension of stay with picture

    - marriage certificate copy

    - ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR PERMIT OF TEMPORARY STAY IN THE KINGDOM OF THAILAND (STM.2)

    - THE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF PENALTIES FOR A VISA OVERSTAY

with application the officer informed me that I could make a 30 day extension first and then a 60 day extension, but if I make today the 60 day extension I cannot extend again for 30 days. After I told her that my flight will out of Thailand will be mid of October she asked me to write the intended travel day on the application form, after that they processed the 60 day extension. I had to pay 1900 THB, all in all it has been quite fast, in and out within 30 minutes.

    cheers, charly

  4. @DrJack54, again thanks for your quick answer, much appreciated.

I assume if I bring my passport, some pictures, perhaps my yellow house book and marriage certificate along with the visa fee shall be enough to get the visa done, am I correct?

Or do I need my wife come along as it is needed for the non-O marriage ?

As per your suggestion, I shall go soon and not wait until the last day, still have almost 20 days left.

  5. during my last overseas trip my non-O based on marriage expired in April, now in August I came back, here since 10 days only on the 30days stamp.

the current stay will be until mid October then go for 2 weeks overseas and come back until end of December. What would be my best options in terms of Visa, permission to stay? is there a 6 month multiple Visa I can apply for or something similar ?

  6. any updated information regarding checkpoints, I need to go from Chiang Mai to BKK, check there some Hardware and return back to Chiang Mai, in best case scenario a round trip within one day, because I am not keen to stay in BKK for a night.

An option is to perhaps take a small Hotel from Nakon Sawan down to Bkk for a night, than in the morning into BKK and hit the road at noon to return to Chaing Mai.

  7. @ Bagwain, the details of the filter are in my post from 26th July, that all what is stated on the filter type plate, here again:

it is a 900mm dia filter with 19-30 qbm/hr flow rate, surface area 0.636 sqm, 75% efficiency, sand weight 350kg, pressure 2.5 kg/sqcm

perhaps you can let me know the price for the glass material you suggest and I may can check with a Chemist about this calcium silicate, maybe he has an idea.

  8. @Bagwain, I am south of Chiang Mai, but come from time to time to Pattaya I could pick it up since I visit friends from time to time on Soi Siam Country

@ZeusMVP, thanks for the math, this I still can manage on my own, but why and where is the calcium chloride crystalizing and lying on the pool floor and not in dissolved state in the water? That bothers me, any idea about that?

  9. I hold since more then 13 years a Thai-wife non-O visa which was extended every year in Thailand, once I applied for a 1 month extension because of traveling issues, have been abroad during the required date to extend.

the new situation is as following,  we (the entire family) shall leave Thailand in December 2021 or early January 2022, my non-O Thai-wife visa expires in April 2022, but we will not return to Thailand before July / August.

I know through my earlier experience that the immigration would not start the visa extension before 30 days of expiration, even considering coming to Thailand for extend at the correct time it will be almost impossible since we both (me and wife) need to show up for application and then is the 30days period until the "hearing result", which is more then 1 month.

We still have time until then, but I would like to check the options we have and hope to get here some reliable information as I did in the past.

  10. the mineral water pool is a tiled concrete infinity pool with 10x5x1.4m (tank 10x1x1m) chlorinator is the purapool mineral oxygen, the water readings are FCL: 1.28; PH: 7.5; ALY: 86;

I try since weeks to get the calcium level up, when measured I get just 20 to 40, it should be 200-300. I did add for quite a while daily 1 kg calcium chloride flakes dissolved in a 10L bucket, the level not really got up, but I can see that at / or below the water outlet points in the pool (pool floor 4 units and pool wall 6 units) white flakes come out.

My assumption is that those white flakes are calcium flakes which somehow seem to be crystallizing somewhere after the chlorinator in the pipes to the water outlets.

Any ideas how I can get my calcium readings up to the required level?

    cheers, charly

  11. I am looking for a transporter to rent, like in the title a Mercedes Sprinter or similar, need to get big but not heavy stuff moved from south to north.

recently I did see a sprinter on which was written for rent if I remember right it was from Chiang Mai, due to covid-19 situation I prefer to drive both ways CNX-BKK-CNX.

Anybody know a rental company which has Sprinter or similar for rent?  BTW I have a Thai employee to drive.

    cheers, charly

  12. If you are interested to see your actual value of PM 2.5 and the WHO and Thai AQI (the Thai AQI is different then the WHO) then I can help you.

I developed a PM 2.5 sensor with a AQI Monitor software which can be connected to every WIN 10 computer or Linux. The AQI Software has recording mode which enables you to make charts or just check back.

I have 2 sensors running 24/7 and check in my living room as well as outside, that shows ma nicely the efficiency of my air purifier and makes me feel better if I see what the outside pollution is.

If you interested you can let me know by PM, you can have a look at it as it is running here at my home just outside CNX

  13. I did add the S/Bicarb 1 kg at a time and my T/A came up to 88, but the PH came up to 7.6 as well which is within the acceptable range. Nevertheless I worry about the black algae with this PH value. Plan to add later today some HCL to get the PH lower. Will update here further it may helps others as well.

Now I start to add calcium flakes, the current value is just 44 quite far from 200 I will see.

Thanks again for your suggestions and sharing your experience, the way is long and steep, but sooner or later I shall reach the finish line.

    Cheers,

    Charly

  14. appreciate your quick response, I do my measurements with the COLORQ LaMotte, with make up water I guess you refer to the city water I use to refill, am I correct?

    following answers:

1st. pool surface 50 sqm with 1.4m depth

2nd. for the calcium level the LaMotte displays just "Lo"

3rd. for the T/A ( Alkalinity ) it displays 34 and for the PH "Lo"

todays readings for the pool water is: FCL 1.42 / TCL 1.42 / PH 7.3 / ALY 40 / CH 27 / CYA 47 / <deleted> 2340  I did add today 3kg S/Bi-carb, now I need to worry that my PH rises and the black algae coming back, correct?

the city water / make up water readings: FCL 1.21 / TCL 1.21 / PH "Lo" / ALY 34 / CH "Lo" / CYA 30

what do you think about the calcium level, as per pura pool it should be between 200 to 300 I am way off to low.

  15. I did battle black algae a while now, lowered the PH, added black algaetrine as per instruction kept it sitting for a 20 hours without pump running, then brushed out the algae vacuum the pool and did a long backwash of the filter.

during this action my T/A dropped to 25ppm therefore I added some kg sodium bicarbonate, but that will rise my PH again. I struggle to get the T/A above 80 with the PH between 7 - 7.2. the pool has 70 cbm water and runs on purapool oxygen. I add a week approx 2 L HCL and 2-3kg sodium bicarbonate.

Another issue is the calcium level, whenever I added calcium it somehow crystallized, which resulted in white flakes below the water outlets at the pool wall and around the water outlets at the pool floor. a pool company advised me to not add calcium anymore, have now level below 50 and I thought during brushing out the algae that the grouting is getting deeper.

I am would be happy for any suggestion.

  16. is there a service station from purapool in Thailand?

actually the pool we got has this purapool Oxy UV Mineral. In general the water is nice and my wife and kids, as me like it, but from time to time due to whatever reason the chlorinator cell isn't working. The controller is on, but the cell not which results in no UV light on, no oxygen generation and of course no chlorination.

it is a 60 cbm pool, keep the purapool on for 8 hours a day the max is 1.3 for chlorine, further the FCL and TCL is every time at exact the same level, should there be not a difference between them?

  17. I did the run last week, leaving Chiang Mai on Saturday morning, all the way to Pattaya no check point was manned by police, drove back to Chiang Mai, left Monday morning and only the check point between Thoen and Lamphang was manned all others no police all the way.

Chonburi by the way is not a risk province, therefore no quarantine needed.

    safe drive. Cheers
