  1. farang - non-Asian foreigner

This word is believed to have originated as a transliteration of the French pronunciation of the French word "Français." The French were the first group of Westerners to be known amongst the Siamese. ฝรั่ง is now used to refer to any foreign object adopted into Thai culture.

The loanword may have migrated into Thailand and the Thai language by way of 17th century Persian and Indian trade routes—there is a similar Persian loanword which is used to refer to non-Muslims.

This colloquialism is used to refer to a Caucasian or Westerner. The formal word that Thai people use for a foreigner is คนต่างชาติ (person; guy; people; man; human being - foreign; expatriate; alien) . Thai people would consider any Caucasian to be foreigners but they would by no means consider all foreigners to be Caucasians. Asians such as Chinese or Japanese—visiting and living in Thailand are technically foreigners but they would not be referred to as farang

  2. last one lol what does this say

    ตอนนี้อยู่ประเทศไทยหรืออังกฤษครับผม

    thx

Right now, are you staying in Thailand or England ?

Im in England at the mo, why do you want to know that

  3. Just reply in English. There's translation feature on facebook. Just make sure you spell and write proper English.

If it's not facebook, then just reply in English anyway. They'll understand basic words like "Thank you" and "yes, new motorbike for birthday".

The Thai they wrote contains words written in slang and jargon, which will fail with the translation feature.

    thanks for your replies

didn't know about translation feature on facebook

trust me lol they/he wont understand basic words like "Thank you" and "yes, new motorbike for birthday

    thx

  5. Toads are natives, you're not! Why don't you toss yourself over the 2m high fence and go back to your sterile country!

    Why don't you get a life ????

I have a life thanks, but it doesn't include being cruel to animals, obviously you don't care.

is this being cruel to animals or just having a tasty meal licklips.gif.pagespeed.ce.v-hsVd-Wpu.gif

  6. so he lands at los he gets 60 days, at the end of the 60 days hes goes to the immigration office for another 30 days,

at the end of them extended 30 days he goes to the border, lets say cambodia and gets 60 days and after the 60 days hes goes back to immigration office for another 30 days

and same again just before it expires

so that might be what he means the immigration office in jomtien.

so all he needs is triple entry tourist visa

    3 X 1900 BAHT and 3 passport photos

    Thank you so much

all this makes me go

  7. So how does he extend by another 30 days for 1900abht, what does if have to do to get it and when and where to get it

so am i right in saying hes gets a triple entry tourist visa to los and when he gets there he gets 60 days extended by another 30 days for 1,900 baht at the airport,

then he goes to the border for a another 60 days extended by another 30 days for 1,900 baht,

he does the same again (before the visa ends) so he gets another 90 days,

    so thats 90 + 90 + 90 days in los

    thanks

  8. Hi All

i need some advice, its for a friend, he wants to stay in thailland for 12 months, so i try and keep it as simple as possible ( so i can print it off for him as hes not got a pc)

am i right in saying that a TOURIST VISA (3 entry), on arrival in thailand by airport i get 60 days, at the end of 60 days i have to go to the border (lets say cambodia) they will give me another 60 days, i can do that 2 times so for example

i land by air on the 1 jan (which is the first entry) then 1 march i go to border for another 60 days ( which is the second entry)

then the 1 may i do it again which takes me to 1 july (which is the third entry and final run before the visa is 6 months old from date of issue ), than i must leave thaialnd

a one year multiple entries "O" visa (my friend is still married legally but he walked away from tgf and everthing 2 years ago so he could still get a "0" visa with hes marriage certifcate)

    is for expamle

i land by air i will have a 90 day stamp at the end of the 90 days i must do a border run (lets say cambodia)

than i gat another 90 days, i can keep on doing that until the visa runs out, then i must leave thailand

    ( so i can get 15 months)

if that is right where does the 15 day come from which ive read on here and not understood lol

and what is the office ( immigration of something like that ) in jomtien for

as my friend thinks he can get hes stamp from there,

    Thanks in advance

so i goes on the website puts in all the details, then it skipped to the end where it says booking reference ####

  10. BBQ rat on a stick will always go down well with Thai people!

    Sorry! Just an idea! :licklips:

IT TASTES LIKE CHICKEN AND ITS CHEAPER THAN CHICKEN

Nice post! Did you even read the OP? Do you usually use all capital letters to post? Nice photo too, you didn't resize it obviously or use the preview post feature to see how bad it looks and how out of focus it is...

Back to the OP. Marinated (lime juice, garlic, fish sauce and chillies, ginger, maybe a bit of soy sauce and some sugar) pork and chicken wings on skewers. Fish, squid, shrimp, some rice, nam plik and beverages are usually always are a crowd favorite... Yum, sounds like fun, I might have to do one next week!
