  1. Sheryl - Unless I am mistaken this Dr. does not appear to be available anymore, so your list needs an update? Dr. Viroj Chodchoy at Bumrungrad - has treated a number of TV members for prostate cancer and other problemshttps://www.bumrungrad.com/doctors/Viroj-Chodchoy Looking into this matter, so any edits would be welcomed.
  2. Old cup/trophy and perhaps some other "trinkets". Yes, looking to sell in Bangkok. So, seems challenging from what you are saying.
  3. https://timelessecho.site/edward-sweeney/ I assume the link above is correct. I did know Edward, so had to search for the information. May he RIP. Condolences to his family and friends.
  4. Has anyone had any positive experiences with selling silver recently? Given the high price at the moment it would appear to be an opportune time to consider selling some items that I have that are not really of any sentimental value. I also have silver trapped within a lot of X-ray film that would be worth trying to retrieve, but that would be much harder to monetize. Anyone have any sensible recommendations in that regard too? Thank you.
  5. Thank you for this information. Where is it taken from please? I would like to read what other information is shared by the same source. It seems the report by Mike Lister shares some similar views but it has a lot of "ifs" and "buts"..... Perhaps this bit sums it up: 77) Until the circumstances surrounding Gift Tax and all it entails, becomes more clear, it is critical that anyone wishing to use Gift Tax, seeks professional advice. Note: Because Gift Tax is predominantly a domain of the wealthy and depends to a large extent on local practice, there is a shortage of confirmed information on this subject. One field of thought is that Gift Tax cannot be used to escape Thai tax by Gifting untaxed money from overseas. On the other hand, many Western countries, including the UK, do not tax gifts from overseas. Members wishing to exercise this option should seek qualified advice before using this option to Gift untaxed funds.
  6. Seems rather murky on facts when it comes to tax and what is correct. I have also been told that you can "gift" your spouse money from your overseas account and that no tax is due on it. Seems there are different views on this and if it IS correct what option on the WISE "list of reasons" for sending funds would one need to select? I would think the closest reason is "Sending money home to family", but that could be argued as it may be for Thai's working in the UK who wish to send money home, no expat Brits. "Gift", or any wording to do with gifting is unavailable, although "Other" shows, but this could just lead to questions!
  7. FWIW - Grok AI says BKK is really the only option and these are the places to enquire/try: WellMed Bangkok Clinic Vejthani Hospital Bumrungrad International Hospital PULSE Clinic MedConsult Clinic Sikarin Hospital (Sikarin Aesthetic Center)
  8. I have been visiting Bumrungrad on and off for cryotherapy treatment to my head (excess sun exposure over the years, so an attempt to preempt skin cancer), but at around 8,500 Baht for a less than 10 minute session it is quite costly. I know MedConsult in BKK offer the same service for 1,600 Baht. However, I tried them once and for some reason the results were not the same. At Bumrungrad the pain is instant and I have to grit my teeth when the application takes place, but with MedConsult I didn't feel a thing and the resulting scabbing did not take place as with the Bumrungrad treatment. So, I am looking for alternatives to try. Perhaps others here have had the treatment somewhere else in BKK or preferably nearer to Korat. The big hospitals in Korat don't offer the service. I asked on a local forum if anyone knew of a place and someone mentioned a clinic, but on checking that doesn't seem to be an option. Thank you.
  9. Thank you Sheryl, and bkk6060. Sheryl - For the first part of your response, I assume any hospital in Korat can perform the free PSA and (resultant) free-to-total PSA ratio test. Is that correct?
  10. Hello Everyone, I would be grateful for some pointers on the best doctor(s) to visit in the city of Korat where I live, or BKK if best, with regards to prostate issues. I just completed a medical check up and the PSA score came in at 4.259 which is just above the 4 limit. My prostate is also enlarged. The hospital in Korat advised I consult with a specialist, hence the message. I would also appreciate knowing if there is anywhere in particular members would recommend that is best for colonoscopy? Has to be one of the most unpleasant experiences but I haven't had one for over 20 years and as I am 60 this year it may be wise to face the matter! My wife probably should go too. Don't think she had ever had the procedure and she is 8 years older than me! Any recommendations for both, and/or feedback on experiences would be welcomed. Thank you!
  11. Thanks for the replies so far. Seems like it is worth being vaccinated from the feedback. My friend's friends also gave similar feedback, hence the query. Re: costs. I am sure Bumrungrad is a lot more than 1600 Baht if this place charges 5590 Baht. Went here for my Yellow Fever jab before traveling to Africa many years ago. https://www.medconsultasia.com/vaccinations/
  12. A US friend living in Thailand mentioned that he is thinking about getting vaccinated against the condition. Test from the link below states "Prevention Is a vaccine available to prevent shingles? Two vaccines are available in the United States to reduce your chance of developing shingles and postherpetic neuralgia. One vaccine, Zostavax®, has been available since 2006. The second vaccine, Shingrix®, has been available since 2017. Shingrix is recommended as the preferred vaccine by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, a group of medical and public health experts. Shingrix (recombinant zoster vaccine) is given as a two-dose shot in your upper arm. You should receive the second dose (shot) two to six months after receiving the first. Shingrix has been shown to be more than 90% effective in preventing shingles and postherpetic neuralgia. Its effectiveness remains above 85% for at least four years after receiving the vaccine. https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/11036-shingles Is this something that should seriously be considered (we are both over 50, and I am interested in knowing too), or not really much of a concern in Thailand? I don't think it is anything to do with where one lives in the world, but curious on the feedback from those who may have had the condition or the vaccine. Thank you.
