  1. I stayed at the Areca Lodge recently and I saw lots of people wqearing what looked like safety glasses, it turned out that they had laser surgery on their eyes

Was anyone in these forums among them ?

I'm trying to find out if these laser (or Lasik) eye surgery proceedures are any good, if they were succesful and if they were any cheaper than the UK

Has anyone else ever had it done ?

Has anyone had any other surgery done ? Like tooth implants ? What was the cost and were they any good ?

Are the hospitals any better than the UK ?

Are the surgeons any good, whats the after care like in these hospitals ?

I'm thinking of getting both done, but the cost in the UK is horrendously high, and then there is this MRSA thing (why dont other hospitals outside suffer from this ?)

Any helpful replies would be appreciated :o

Areka Lodge, thats near Slices Pizza,me thinks.Or the original one at least .There are so many now.

What with owner Bobby also owning Platinum Motorbikes on Third Road and having just launched WOW, the new restaurant delivery service in

Pattaya seems he could be taking over the joint!

To get back to the point just wait a little and you may be able to get Medical Services with your food delivery ,courtesy of Bobby !!!

    Happy Operating :D

  2. He has to be joking. I think it is a problem to buy these type of low cost condo because building material is increase so much all over the world. Metal and concrete prices have gone crazy. How can they make this low cost condo and say it will ready late this year or early next. you should buy something already built to guarantee it is complet. It is not just low cost condo can you think how much increase it is to build ocean 1? I don't think it will happen.

The incentive has got to be that we paid only 50% up front and the other 50% is payable only on completion ?

    whadda you think ?

  3. My friend in Pattaya had Banglamung TV and it had very little to interest an English speaker. He tried Sophon which can be irritating, but it has a good Aussie channel and is probably worth what it costs. You get to see all the famous people like Howard and Niels. Howard goes to a lot of restaurants Niels goes to everything. He is like the boss of many things

:o Spot on !!! Thats the most concise and accurate comment I have read about the news channels in Pattaya. Thanks for making me laugh this early in the morning!

Howard will be pleased that he provides some entertainment. Niels tries hard, but he is too busy being the chairman/president/leader/chiefsuck*ss to have a sense of humour

    Please Gentlemen,Neils is a Pattaya icon !!

He is CEO of Pattaya People Newspaper + Radio,IC of the Police Foreign Volunteers, High up in the Rotary Club,Lions ,Pattaya Ex-Pats , and lots of other influential organisations . What a Guy !!! and Danish to boot !!

    Happy Viewing

  4. Anyone bought in Suan Sawarn ? If so what is the latest projected completion date?

It was originally November/December 2008,but things change !

    Happy Holidays

  5. Yes, Renoir's is good. I also like Cherry's and Asiaroma, which are continental/thai.

never heard of asiaroma where is that 1 ?

I presume 'Romanasia' is the Restaurant in question.Very good food + prices from Sue + Derek.

On a cross Soi close to the beach, turn left at Sea Orchid on Soi 5 Pratumnak Hill, heading towards Soi 6.

    Closed Sundays.

    Happy Troughing

  6. In fact Foodland does have dried peas. They are next to the bananas and the coffee grinder in the corner of the store. I'm sure Friendship on South Pattaya Road has them as well.

I went this morning to Foodland and looked all over,to no avail. The bananas are in the right hand corner as you enter through the turnstile, where the fruit and veg racks start. The coffee grinder is actually beyond the checkouts near the pharmacy and newspaper areas.

The store has been revamped recently as the salad bar is near the bananas not at the far end of the veg racks as it was, near the pre-packed meat and fish.

I found dried green mong dal, dried green beans but no peas. Thanks for trying

  7. Ravi's Indian supermarket is out of bags of dried peas, which I need to make my lovely Mushy Peas.

I know you can buy frozen and tinned mushy's but just not the same.

I have scoured Tesco,Big C,Tops,Best,Foodland,Foodmart,Villa all to no avail.

    Any ideas folks ?

  8. Does anyone know of a basic Iyangar Yoga class, preferabally run by a European.

I am a fairly active 61 year old lady who will be in Pattaya from May 15th. until October.

Last year I went to a studio near Big C on Sukhumvit Road .

It was really hectic, with varying styles ,plus no rest for over 90 minutes ,teaching in Thai,

it nearly did for me !

    I want something gentler,any ideas ?

  9. Having friends come over for a holiday and they want to rent an automatic bike (Airblade, Nouvo, Click, Mio or similar).

    1) what is the going weekly price for this type of bike?

    2) where is a reputable shop to rent from?

I usually pay Bht. 2500/3000 permonth to rent an Automatic.Weekly will probably be 700-800 depending on you bargaining skills.A deposit equal to the rental period is normally required.

There will always be somewhere local to rent from. This is best as it is easier to get to when returning the bike.Just ensure they are 'pukka' as they will issue with a proper agreement.

    Happy Motoring
