  1. The Laughing Leprachaun has reopend on Loi Kroh Rd near the top end.

Oh!! That sounds like good news if it's still the same place? I never visited the old one, but many posters here seemed to like it. Same owner/operator?

Send me a PM with the name of the place you voted for and I will change it for you.

It's okay. :o There are more important polls going on in the world than this one. :D

  2. My guess: Offices in provinces that *ARENT* international ports of entry (air/sea/land) AND aren't major tourist centers may be considered to close.

Then some lawyers or even immigration people in Khorat themselves forget that both Had Yai and Chiang Mai have international airports as well as land (and in the case of Had Yai) sea borders.

It's completely impossible to close those; Chiang Mai borders Burma; Had Yai borders Malaysia AND has a port in/around Songkhla.

So... let's keep it real, and stop the rumour mongering. Thank you.

  4. There is The Pub and there is the Laughing Leprachaun. I think you are mixing the two.

If I read this topic correctly I think the latter is closed now? In any case I did mean the Irish Pub on Ratwithee Road.. I believe it's been there pretty much forever. I remember going there in the early nineties.

The bakery at the Irish Pub (Crusty Loaf?) is very good too. They make bread fresh, daily. (DOesn't last as long as factory bread, which is probably a good sign.. All the more reason to visit frequently. :o )

  5. I always used to visit the Irish Pub and I went there last week for breakfast and it was excellent.

But it is not included in the poll. and there is no 'other' option either.

Also I think its very western centric. What about local breakfasts? I think the Three Kings Monument area is perfect for breakfast.

  6. I think casinos would be awesome, and finally a real additional reason to visit the North. Why else would people visit Chiang Mai? For what's left of the hill tribes or some sad elephant camps? Day spas? Come on. Casinos might mean a resurgence in nightlife, which would be a very good thing.

  7. Go for a split unit.

Humanity has moved on from Wall mounted single unit type airconditioners.

Prices start at 15K baht, so affordable too. If you can spend a little more, NOBODY beats Mitsubishi airconditioners.

  8. Thaksin enjoyed the popular rating of 42.8 per cent compared with 30.4 per cent and 28.5 per cent for Abhisit and Samak respectively.

As far as being more popular then Samak is concerned, i know of few who wouldn't win that contest.

Well, Abhisit, if I read correctly. :o

  9. Accuracy of GPS is the same everywhere, so very good.. Within a couple of meters.

THe thing that differs is the quality of the map.. While this is improving, it's still not as good as other places in the world. So quite a few mistakes with navigation, though it is usually good enough to eventually get there, which is usually what matters most.

Prices of GPSs are fast falling... Some mobile phones now have GPS, or GPS can be added cheaply.

  10. Before switching, do consider that at least at TG you can redeem your miles very easily. Try that on some other airlines and you'll be hit with blackout periods and other crap that will stop you from actually using your miles!

I just booked some reward ticket right around the main Thai holiday of Songkran... No issues at all.

    That's class.
