I know nothing Mr Fawlty
Possible he never checked the expiry date on his card before leaving UK
You might think that, but I had a credit card cancelled while I was on holiday that had more than two years left before its expiry date. The bank had sent me a new card without telling me because I had reached some sort of security threshold (they were very vague about this, but there had been no suspicious transactions) and had then cancelled my old card three weeks after sending the new one, which was lost in the post. I didn't know it had been lost of course because they hadn't told me it was coming. To add insult to injury, they then deleted all the statements in my Internet banking remain to the old card, and sent me a final bill with no statement to check it against.
They were baffled as to why I could object to any of this because it was all "for my protection".

4 hours ago, smedly said:you then have restrictions simply because you generally become a competent driver through experience which you gain over time by driving
I used to think this until I started using taxis in Bangkok. It impresses me that you can do something for 12 hours a day fit 10 years and still be so bad at it.

Particulates measuring 2.5 microns (PM2.5) or less were recorded in at least 20 roadside locales beyond the safety limit of 50 micrograms per cubic metre
Everything I've read says the safe limits are an average of not more than 25 micrograms per cubic metre in any 24 hour period and a yearly average of not more than 10. Where does their figure of 50 come from?
-
The two stations nearest me on the www.bangkokairquality.com website don't even measure PM2.5.

Brilliant description of an oft-observed phenomenon. Wish I'd thought of it.

A friend suggests you try coins.co.th. Neither of us has ever used it but he thinks it accepts Americans

“Not only we will not learn from their technology, foreign investors can also set up in industries that we are good at, such as agricultural processing or tourism, and compete with our businesses,” he said.
Well, if you're so good at these industries, you don't have to fear competition do you?

Swan is fine but my best bread results have been with "Waitrose Canadian and Very Strong White Bread Flour" mixed 50/50 with "Waitrose Canadian and Very Strong Wholemeal Flour". These are available in Central Food Halls in Bangkok.

I use a wine refrigerator, set to 16 degrees C for things like chocolate tea coffee and obviously wine.

These guys are great. I have ordered from them online many times. They also have a coffee shop on Sukhumvit 61 so you can taste before you buy.

Has anyone been to the NASA - A Human Adventure exhibition at Central Lad Prao?
Is it mostly aimed at children or adults? Is it worth going for someone who is interested in spaceflight?

The Old Showground is now a supermarket, Sainsbury's if I'm not mistaken.

Nuclear in the hands of thais is scary....
In all seriousness, if Thailand does anything nuclear, I'm moving as far away as possible and downwind from the nation.
Not to bash, but Thais can hardly keep their internet on when it rains. No way in hell I'm going to be anywhere near a nuclear Thailand.
Upwind?

The headline made me laugh. "Brass" in England is slang for prostitute, "brass hat" is the slang for a senior military officer.

As of yesterday, Gourmet Market in Siam Paragon now have Lowan Natural Harvest Muesli (4.3g sugar per 100g). It's a new batch with a 2015 sell by date. I haven't checked Foodland or Emporium yet. I hope it turns up in your area soon. The importing company is the same as before, so I've no idea why it disappeared, but very glad it's back.

Alto Coffee in Megabangna had some in stock last Saturday. Not sure of the price.
-
Lowan Original Harvest muesli, very tasty and only 4.3% sugar (and no artificial sweetener) where most other types are a minmum of 17% and some as high as 30%. I used to buy it in Foodland or Emporium, but it has now disappeared. Couldn't get any further than "yut kaay" at information counter at two separate Foodland branches, looks like it's gone forever.
Does anyone have any alternative suggestions?

I think he means "tachograph".
Multiple banks told my wife if you get a loan to buy land, you cannot build a house on that land

Can you buy the land and then remortgage to include the outstanding amount and the cost of building when you want to build the house?
