  1. Hello. I am an American. I will be traveling to Laos early May to submit paperwork for a work permit. I hear you have to make an appointment before showing up. Anyone know what website to go to for this? How long in advance must you register? Any other information would be appreciated. Thanks!

  2. Hello all. I am in need of an official criminal background check required for a teaching job. I heard it can be obtained in somewhere in Bangkok. I live in Pattaya. Does anyone have information about location, price and timeframe? Thanks in advance!

  3. I am an American here with my American minor children. We are a Missionary family. I am seeking a long term visa that will cover myself and my minor children. We would like to stay in Thailand for a year or more but our tourist visa limit is approaching. I heard about getting a charity or missions visa. Anyone have info about this? And can minor children be added like they can on a nonO visa? Thanks!

  4. A group of us will be traveling from Pattaya to Loas on or about September 15, 2018 to make a new tourist visa at the Thai Consulate in Vientienne . We will be going on our own (without a thai travel company).  Done this trip many times before. Cheaper than going with a company. Anyone need to make a new visa and needs travel companions or assistance is welcome to travel along.  Contact me on here and we can exchange information.

  5. I will be 50 yrs. old in December. I am an American. When can I apply for the Retirement Visa (I heard one month prior to turning 50 yrs). Can I add my wife (an American) and my American children who live here in Thailand with me? I know that for Non-Immigrant B (work permit) visas, the holder can add spouse and children. We did that in the past. What about with the Retirement Visa? Thanks.

I just wanted to emphasise that the usual wording is visa for any kind of stay in Thailand.
Almost all visitors that come to Thailand call it visa even they just get a stamp in their passport like EU citizens.
Even the Thai authorities call everything visa.

Of course the letter of your institution is important when you apply for the visa as it states the period of your course and therefore the period of your visa.

Thanks. I appreciate you taking the time out to explain.

  7. Can anyone confirm that now in Laos, you can apply and obtain a single entry tourist visa the same day. Before you had to turn in application one day and pickup stamped passport the next afternoon. I have heard that now you can turn in application in the morning and pick up stamped passport on the same afternoon. Can anyone confirm this? I must travel in a few days.

Also, I have traveled to Non Kai several times on my own without using a visa company. Leaving from Pattaya petro station on Sukumvit Rd. Pretty easy going to Laos border, paying for entry $35 and then to immigration for TR visa. Is it still possible to do your own visa run. Any new changes?

    Thanks for your feedback.
