Hello. I am a middle aged female looking to start taking Martial Arts classes. I live in Pattaya and want to know of the best place to check out. I am not interested in Muai Thai or Judo for various reasons, but am open for other forms. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks.

Hello. I am an American. I will be traveling to Laos early May to submit paperwork for a work permit. I hear you have to make an appointment before showing up. Anyone know what website to go to for this? How long in advance must you register? Any other information would be appreciated. Thanks!

Just as an update: today, I spoke to my visa agent that I have been using for several years. She told me that beginning 1 March 2019, there will be no exceptions or "under the table deals" allowed. All paperwork must be in order or you will get a denial in Jomtien immigration office. This message came down from Bangkok. There is no safe visa. All paperwork must be in order. Check with your local agent and verify that your situation is secure. Don't get caught up in the foolishness of hecklers. We all will have to answer for ourselves.

As we are aware, retirement and long stay visas are getter harder and harder to secure. I came across a company that offers work permits to foreigners to promote their online English program. You can get a one year visa ( non B) and work permit working as a Recruitment Manager. You can also earn commission for referring students. There are no age restrictions as to who can apply. I am an American female (age 49). I have lived in and taught in Thailand for many years. I recently applied for a new teaching position with an international school. Despite my qualifications, I was not able to get a position due to the new laws that require teachers to submit original degree and official transcripts to THE THAI EMBASSY in their HOME COUNTRY!!!! Almost impossible if you already live here. And that is just the first leg of new requirements.
The retirement visa has gotten more strict as well. This could be a solution for many searching for a way to maintain their residency here. Contact Addie at <contact by personal message). I am going to sign up. I want to stay here like we all do. This was an amazing discovery that helped me and may help someone else. She can give you more information. Hope this helps! Thai visa has always been a source of helpful information. Just wanted to help the community.

I am an American here with my American minor children. We are a Missionary family. I am seeking a long term visa that will cover myself and my minor children. We would like to stay in Thailand for a year or more but our tourist visa limit is approaching. I heard about getting a charity or missions visa. Anyone have info about this? And can minor children be added like they can on a nonO visa? Thanks!

Thanks for the information! I went to the consulate link and found the write up. Still not sure about my children; the website does not address this. I will inquire further. Thanks!

I will be 50 yrs. old in December. I am an American. When can I apply for the Retirement Visa (I heard one month prior to turning 50 yrs). Can I add my wife (an American) and my American children who live here in Thailand with me? I know that for Non-Immigrant B (work permit) visas, the holder can add spouse and children. We did that in the past. What about with the Retirement Visa? Thanks.

I just wanted to emphasise that the usual wording is visa for any kind of stay in Thailand.
Almost all visitors that come to Thailand call it visa even they just get a stamp in their passport like EU citizens.
Even the Thai authorities call everything visa.
Of course the letter of your institution is important when you apply for the visa as it states the period of your course and therefore the period of your visa.Thanks. I appreciate you taking the time out to explain.

Thank you all for your assistance and insight. I guess I call it a "visa" because the school calls it that. So while in Thailand I enrolled at a language school and obtained an ED Visa. Now I understand it is an extention of stay similar to a tourist visa, just longer and with different requirements. This is a great forum. It has been super helpful over the years.

what about evidence of adequate finance? are they requiring this? will a recent bank statement work?
If denied a tourist visa, will they grant 30 day stamp that can be renewed inside Thailand after 30 days?
Lots of questions, thanks for your help!

Can anyone confirm that now in Laos, you can apply and obtain a single entry tourist visa the same day. Before you had to turn in application one day and pickup stamped passport the next afternoon. I have heard that now you can turn in application in the morning and pick up stamped passport on the same afternoon. Can anyone confirm this? I must travel in a few days.
Also, I have traveled to Non Kai several times on my own without using a visa company. Leaving from Pattaya petro station on Sukumvit Rd. Pretty easy going to Laos border, paying for entry $35 and then to immigration for TR visa. Is it still possible to do your own visa run. Any new changes?
Thanks for your feedback.

Hello. I just received my Single entry Thai Visa from Phenom Phen. I am in Cambodia now and need to stay maybe a month longer before entering Thailand. The dates of validity on my visa say: valid from 27 Oct 2017 to valid until 26 Jan 2018. My question is: will I get the full 2 months plus optional 30 day extension if I check into Thailand say on 1Dec 2017?

Has anyone experienced or heard any news about difficulty getting SETV from Phenom Phen. My daughter was there recently, an American, and many were being turned away for one reason or another. We are currently in Cambodia, and this is the only Thai Embassy in the land. Warhat is the best embassy in the region to obtain a SETV? I am American, about 3 years shy of qualifying for a retirement visa.
Also, any news on Thailand seeking to get rid of foreigners out of the Kingdom? thanks!

Thanks ubonjoe. I have all the proper paperwork , includung police clearance, that I used in USA to get the original non b and family o's. The officer told me to take the same docs outside to get the non immigrant visas. So do you think that will suffice? Is Loas still favorable to farang?
-
Came from USA on teaching invite with non b in hand and non o for husband and children. Now I have less than 30 days on my visa and still no contact from employer. Jomtien imm.officer said I could take the same invite documents (company paperwork) outside the country to a Thai embassy and get another non b and non o for my family.really?? I spoke to a visa specialist who said myself and my family members could only get non b, no non o.I'm confused now because they follow me. Anyone have any answers on the matter?
How long are tourist visas? Is it still possible to travel to Loas on your own to make visa via big bus? Thanks for your help.

There is much talk about farang getting turned away in Laos trying to get Thai visas. Everyone has a different story based on their situation. But my question is: Is there any official word issued about restrictions at Laos consulates specifically regarding tourist visas, and ED visas. I am an American. Thank you.
