Make sure foot pain is not Diabetes

I`ve got type 2 diabetes and had pins and needles in my feet. The doctor gave me Amitriptyline 10mg to try......and bingo, it worked.

Amitriptyline is an antidepressant drug licensed to treat moderate to severe depression. In multiple sclerosis, amitriptyline is often used in lower doses for the treatment of neuropathic or nerve pain, such as burning sensations, pins and needles or stabbing pains.

  2. We`ve moved to a town now but prior to that we were living out in the sticks in a beautiful area not far from Pak Chong. We had grown corn in a rented 11 rai field but a lot of the locals would grow sugarcane. It was bad enough with the burning, though it seemed not to last long once it had been lit, it was the black flakes that seemed to float down for days that really (deleted) me off. It was a bit of a lottery when to do a family washing.

The last year we were there the farmer in the field beside us decided to rent in one of these harvester machines, that eventually chopped up the cane into small bits and dumped them into a big wagon. It worked great in the first field but the machine couldn`t do the business in the second field due to too many boulders in the field, so the farmer had to get a squad in to chop down the cane (the field was too near our house to burn.....thankfully).

  3. In my case I didn’t feel as though I was getting a good nights sleep, also feeling lethargic. I had never been 72 before so I didn’t know how I was supposed to feel but as I get monitored by my doctor every 6 months for prostate cancer and type 2 diabetes I thought it best I let the doctor know.

The outcome was, after a blood test, that I was anemic. Probably brought on by a poor diet. I am now 2 months into a 6 month course of iron tablets and my sleeping has improved considerably.

Maybe worth having a blood test done if you’ve any worries.

  4. Thanks UKr, got it sorted now after a blether with Kay. I`ve to send her the info she requires, and, after she gets permission from London I will go down to Glasgow with my passport to get the visa. It saves me one trip down from north of Aberdeen and I don`t have to worry about the criteria I was on about.

    Thanks again mate.

Oh, btw, I had 4 happy years living in Cowdenbeath, and another 4 years living in Muchty (where I was next door neighbour to Jimmy Shand AND the Proclaimers used to babysit my kids.....true)

  5. For a few years now I have been applying for and getting a 1 year Non-Imm Type `O` ME from the Thai Embassy in London. I am married to a Thai and would go over to Thailand for 90 days, then UK for 90 days, then back to Thailand for 90 days etc, etc. I needed to send a copy of the wife`s ID, a copy of the Marriage Certificate, etc, along with my application, and, never a problem.

Now I will try to get a 6 month Non-Imm Type `O` SE from London, (twice a year) and now I have a dilemma...….I can apply, with all the family information asked by the Embassy OR, I can go the retirement route (which needs less information), and my dilemma is this...……..I will be changing the criteria for my application in London, and, with all the hassles people are having entering Thailand, will the change of criteria give me any problems at the airport in BKK (Suvarnabhumi).

    Thanks in anticipation.

  6. Having been taken to Thailand for a holiday by a Thai woman (gf at the time), and during an argument, I was told she was going to get me thrown out of her country. It never happened.. but, a few years later, after her husband died and she had to look after her son (12 years old) and after more arguments I contacted the local council in my country and told them my one bedroom flat was not big enough for the 3 of us. I was happy when they re-located the 2 of them. However, being the nature of the beast, she soon got her hooks into another mobile ATM. I wish him luck.

  7. I`m on Eliquis 5mg (also known as Apixaban). One thing to note is that a dentist might refuse to extract a tooth because of the blood element. My dentist refused to extract and has referred me to a specialist hospital here in Scotland (I`m on 3 months Scotland, 3 months Thailand). Unfortunately there`s a waiting list of over a year. I`m hoping, however, if pain I could get an emergency appointment.

  8. I`ve now been back in Scotland for a week, after 3 months in Thailand. It`s only now I feel back to 100%. I've been visiting Thailand regularly for the last 10 years and have never had a hot spell like this year. People here ask where my suntan is but I`ve got to explain that it was too hot to go out.

I`ll be back again for another 3 month spell in September, visiting my wife and I`m hoping it`ll not be as hot again. Oh, as a weather report from the North-East of Scotland today.....there was sleet. Heaven sent after the last 2 months in Thailand.

  9. Went through yesterday for a 12.30 (luchtime) departure, they now have got people directing you from the line to the next available desk I was through there in less the 2 minutes, I actually got through quicker than my wife using her Thai passport, I was so impressed I had to comment to a senior officer sitting behind the desks, she thanked me for telling her.

Why go through differently from your wife? I always go through the Thai channel with my GF. Go through just in front of her and there`s not a problem, and that covers arriving and leaving. Done it many times.
  10. In the UK it`s the word `superb` that pisses me off....seems to me, when said it is people trying to make out they are a bit upper class than me. What`s the matter with someting being good, or even great.....only Kenny Dalglish, as a player, was superb.
