  1. Good morning to you all.

I am going to be attempting to get a visitor visa to the uk for my friend and her young child. Whilst I think I am happy covering the requirements for the visa the only problem we may have is the estranged thai father of the child.

Firstly the mother needs to get a passport for the child. What documents are needed and does the father have to give any input? He is named on the birth certificate.

Secondly, to take the child out of Thailand for the holiday does the mother need permission or any kind of special documentation?

The father does nothing to support the child, doesn't make any efforts for birthdays etc. I am concerned that he may want money or something once he is aware a foreigner is involved.

Anyone have any experience of this situation? All help really appreciated.

    Thanks!

  2. I found this but it is from 2012. Also, I don't have internet banking per se. It's a normal account with internet banking. Not exclusively internet.

With regard to internet banking, we acknowledge the fact that original statements may not be produced and will accept the internet printouts especially if they are backed with other forms of original evidence such as employment contracts and wage slips.

Bank statements whether they be originals or internet printouts (when no originals are produced) must be

    (i) from a financial institution regulated by the appropriate regulatory body for the country in which that institution is operating.
(ii) not be from a financial institution on the list of excluded institutions in Appendix P of these rules.
(iii) in relation to personal bank statements be only in the name of:

    (1) the applicant's partner, the applicant or both as appropriate; or
    (2) if the applicant is a child the applicant parent's partner, the applicant's parent or both as appropriate; or
    (3) if the applicant is an adult dependent relative, the applicant's sponsor or the applicant,
    unless otherwise stated.

  3. Hello Everyone,

Thanks for all the people that make this the great resource it is.

I am currently putting together an application for my Thai girlfriend to visit the UK for 3 weeks. I think that we are able to satisfy most of the requirements. I understand that I must supply evidence showing support for the duration of her stay. However, my bank does not send statements to my UK address. It is now saving the planet and had gone paperless. I am able to print off PDF statements with full bank headers etc. Will this be accepted?

I will be making a separate post for my second question but I'll ask here too.

I don't work in the UK. I am usually contracting in Europe. I have a UK company and most of my money is in the business accounts there. Will this have any bearing on our application? The account shows my company name and my name on the PDF statement.

Thanks and all the best to you all for your help

  4. Over 2013/2014 I worked in Thailand for a thai company but the number of days totalled less than 184.

So firstly, does anyone know if I'm able to apply for a rebate on tax paid and second, do forum rules allow anyone to recommend an account that might be able to assist with this?

I expect dealing with the tax department is on par with any other government department and would prefer someone else deal with it.

Thanks for any suggestions and advice.

  5. I've been told that there are a number of free concerts being help in or around Udon at the moment. Traditional thai style music and dancing. Sounds like great fun.... Or will it be drunked youths!?

Apparently all the way up to songkran. Does anyone know where they are being held?

Oh, and it's not the MTV trafficking awareness concert. That's where Google points me.

    Thanks

  6. Just an update for anyone that needs to search for this.

Seems it was pretty straight forward and once people had been there to witness her being her and showed the house book there wasn't a problem. Waited around for a bit then got issued a card. Bing bang - done.

Out of interest.... What can someone do with a lost/stolen ID card anyway? Seems not much. With the system they have for getting someone you know and the house book, which doesnt look too hard to forge, couldn't you pretend to be someone else?

Thanks again for all the help

  7. Good evening all,

I'm trying to help a friend who has lost an ID card and needs it replacing.

I've read in several posts that a quick visit to the local office will get a replacement. (Post are also somewhat dated too.) However, my "friend" doesn't seen to believe it's that easy. Not being from udon City she believes she has to return all the way into the sticks to the original office where she is from.

Please could someone highlight the steps and procedure for getting a replacement ID card in Udon Thani?

    Thanks for the help

  8. I've been told that as a consultant I don't require a work permit. The initial contract was three months and now it has been extended another three months. I've referred them to the information kindly pointed out here. Other places I've looked also suggest voluntary work, strictly, would require a work permit. So it's regardless of the position type.

They talk about future work and say then I would need a work permit. Unfortunately it looks like that what many people have already said and they are a company unconcerned about their expat workers.

I had no idea that a tax file has to be filed and will have to get that together.

    Have a great weekend.

  9. Hello everyone and greetings from ko chang!

I'm working for a thai company and have a non b visa from Cambodia. This is about to expire as 3 months is almost up and a new trip for another non b to Cambodia embarked upon.

Throughout my first 3 months I have been asking my employer, a thai company, when will I get my work permit. They have told me that I do not need one. I'm sure that this is not the case. However I cannot find any official text to show them to argue my point. They are plenty of forum posts etc but this is not good enough for them.

Is there any case where a work permit is not required? I'm meant to be here as a "consultant". Does this have any bearing on the situation? The same question for the tax side of things. I would assume that every working person pays the same rate according to the system that they have in place, ie sliding scale. How am I being taxed if I have no work permit!?

I'm slightly concerned that if I were ever stopped by the police I would need to produce a work permit. Especially having been working here for so long.

    Thanks for any help

    All the best!

  10. Hello everyone,

If a tourist visa has been successfully issued and stamped into a passport is it possible to ask immigration not to use it. Instead, ask that the visa exemption is used.

I would like to exit Thailand after only 2 weeks with out using one of the entries permitted on the tourist visa. Once I returned I would like to then start using the tourist visa with it's full 60 days. This would be within the "use by date" of the tourist visa.

Thanks all... I hope that this is clear
