First time I came to Thailand was in 1994 for work. I've been a consistent visitor or resident since then. Currently a resident. I've been there and done that on just about everything Thailand has to offer and also have a closet full of "stupid man" shirts. My saddest times were because of Thailand and my happiest times were (and currently are) because of Thailand. But, after all this time, I have resisted having a cynical view of Thailand. Being outside of Pattaya helps and surrounding myself with good people helps as well, but even then, it can creep in from time to time. I do miss the old Pattaya (When "the dark side" truly was dark), a very good mix of fun but still very very laid back. Those days are gone, unfortunately. Probably a move in our future at some point.
