Good post and insight to your football leanings Macclad. Welcome to the footy forum, hope to have some banter with you. I'm a City fan BTW. Just for clarity and not bragging :o it's the same City who did the double over you this season :D

I've dragged taken my mrs to a couple of City matches and she loved it. Not managed to convince her of going to watch Rochdale yet :D

Yeah,City have had one decent result in the last 3 months and, sadly,it was against United :D .But City deserved the win....more up for it than the Reds.

Last time I went to Spotland was Easter 2004 to watch a relegation battle between Rochdale & Macc.

Macclesfield won 2-1 with a disputed penalty.Rochdale were staring relegation in the face but managed to survive.......but 4 years on looking good for your boys :D

  2. Afternoon guys,

I'm Macclad and,as my username implies,I'm from Macclesfield in Cheshire.

The last 4 years have been split between Thailand & England but I'm hoping to settle in Thailand now......visa permitting !

I'm married to a Thai girl and we live up in the NE of Thailand, about 50 kilometres from the border with Laos.

    I've travelled around a lot of Thailand.....Bangkok,Phuket,Samui,Koh Chang,Hua-Hin,Chiang-Mai,Pattaya,Isaan etc.

I love the football. My favourite Premiership team is Manchester United but as its almost impossible to get a ticket to see them I go and watch my local team Macclesfield Town.

I brought my missus to the UK for a couple of years and I did manage to get her to Old Trafford a couple of times, useing someones season ticket. One was a Champions League match (Lille) and the other a Premier League against Fulham (4-2) and she really enjoyed the experience.

I also took her to watch Macc Town but she was less than enthusiastic for some reason !! :o

Premiership title & Champions League looks like being a bit of a nail biter for United, particularily with Vidic and now Ferdinand injured......shades of last season. :D

And Macc Town look like surviving in the Football League for a 12th season, which is a lot longer than most people, including myself, thought !

Read loads of the posts already and responded to a few.....happy to be part of the forum.

  3. Lets think positive......still 3 points clear and with a better goal difference.

Just hope Ferdinands injury is not too serious......dont want a repeat of last season with him and Vidic out :o

Might be worth giving Pique his chance now ?

Just beat Roma on aggregate and Arsenal this weekend then the injury situation might have cleared up.

  4. Shame for Arsenal after being top for so long but you dont win titles by winning one out of seven.

Surely youll want United to win it now,not boring Chelsea !

  5. Looking good for Dale & Stockport now........actually,Stockport have a good chance of automatic promotion looking at the league table.

Macc.Town look as though they will survive by the skin of their teeth again.......Looking bad for Wrexham and pick any one out of Mansfield,Notts County,Dagenham,Shrewsbury and Chester to accompany them into the Conference.

All but Dagenham northern teams, which is a shame.

  6. Sorry to say it but I think Bolton are going to be relegated.

All Sam Allardyce built up over the last few seasons thrown away.

When Anelka went to Chelsea why didnt they sign a replacement ?

And Gary Megson as manager....come on.....failure at Norwich,Stockport,Notts Forest & Leicester....not a complete disaster at WBA but two promotions & one relegation in successive seasons. When Bryan Robson replaced him he managed to keep WBA up and he's hardly been a success as a manager !

Next season no derbies against United,City & Blackburn.......Preston & Blackpool instead!

  7. Thanks lopburi3,

My visa actually expires at the beginning of September.

So,say,at the end of July/early August I go along to Immigration with proof of my monthly income/bank account in Thailand on a British Embassy letterhead that should suffice?

Is 30 days sufficient time for them to process my application or do they stamp my passport to the effect that a visa application is under review ?

    Cheers.

  8. Hopefully Vidic will be fit for the Champions League Semi-Final first leg.

We dont want a repeat of the defensive injuries of last season....remember the second leg of the Champions League semi final against AC Milan....the back four was Fletcher,Brown,Heinze & O'Shea.....no wonder we got beat !

I think Sir Alex will put O'Shea in at right back with Brown moving to the middle alongside Ferdinand.

    Middlesbrough away

    Arsenal home

    Roma home

I think we'll be OK without Vidic for these three but maybe lucky we've got a bit of a cushion at the top of the Premiership.

  9. Get an early morning flight from Bangkok to Udon Thani.Nok Air has an early morning flight at 6am if you can make it ! Cost, one way,is about 1600 baht.

At Udon Thani airport get the minibus into town (ask to be dropped off at the Bus station)....cost about 60 baht,I think.

Get the bus from Udon Thani to Nong Khai....buses leave every 30 minutes, cost no more than 100 baht.

At Nong Khai bus station get a saamlaw to the Friendship Bridge....cost about 40 baht.

Exit Thai Immigration and catch the bus across the Friendship Bridge....about 10 baht ??

At Laos Immigration ask for a Visa on Arrival form and arrival/departure card.Fill both of these in and hand them in along with your passport and 1500 baht.

You will be given a visa stamp for 30 days.

Enter Laos, you have to pay an arrival tax on your way through (about 50 baht).

You will then be offered various transport options to Vientiane by a number of people trying to make money out of you......a saamlaw on your own should cost maximum 300 baht, other options like shared transport a lot less.

Sorry I cant be exact with the baht costs because I did the Udon-Vientiane bit by car but prices shouldnt be too far out(Laos visa 1500 baht is spot on).

    Hope this helps.

  10. I'm in my mid 50's and currently have a non-immigrant o multi entry visa which I can use for 12 months plus.

I had one a few years ago and when it expired I just flew back to the UK and just applied for a new non-immigrant o multi entry at Birmingham, after spending 18 months back in England.

This time, when the visa expires,I want to extend my stay in Thailand,if possible.

Am I right in thinking that you can go to somewhere like Vientiane,Penang or Singapore to get a 60/90 day extension ?

If you can do this what documentation do you need to take with you eg.proof of income etc ?

    Thanks for any help.
