1. I just had mine serviced and am very pleased. They charged the coolant and cleaned the outside unit. They completely took apart the indoor unit and cleaned it. They cleaned up all mess and only charged 600B. I don't know the name of the company because their card is in Thai, but the number is 086-159-9053 or 083-338-0233

  2. Thinking of bringing my family down to Pattaya or nearby for a weeks holiday. All sounds very dangerous and boarding on a potential civil war.

    Honest answers asap guys Thanks

I live here in Jomtien Beach and it is business as usual. My GF and I went to Villa Market yesterday and saw a movie and had dinner. Had two people already starting to do the water BullSh*#t on Thapriah on the way back. :o

  3. My GF needs to get a motorcycle license. Are they open next week? What documents does she need?

She would need to take her ID card and 2 smaller than passport size photos with her, then go and do a written test followed by a riding test. I would get there for around 8.30am on the 16th, as they will probably be closed for songkran 13th-15th.

Thanks for the information, Sotsira. :o

  4. Ice cream buffet, 150 Baht all you can eat, Only one day to go................. :o

My GF and I went Saturday evening and couldn't find ANYTHING regarding 150B for all you can eat. I was just a bunch of booths set up charging their normal prices.

  5. I need to get some information on how to contact Banks regarding the purchase of Repo'd motorcycles. Thanks in advance for your help.

the most common bank for motorcycle financing is Thanachart bank

they have an office in Tesco Lotus Pattaya Nua

they auction all their repossesed vehicles with the outstanding balance as the base reserve

the auction charges a standard fee payable by the buyer on every sale.

auctions from Thanachart are held locally every month at Big C south pattaya

there was an auction of motorcycles there last Friday

so the next one should be in 3 weeks but songkran may interupt the schedule

    best to enquire

    i hope that helps

    Thanks for the information.

  6. Good points. She is Thai, as she has one more year to go before high school I doubt much thought has been given as to what direction she wants her education to take. Prestige of school is not important, quality and (to a lesser degree) location is.

As to the price I have to admit I have absolutely no idea what private schools are likely to cost in tuition fees.

Well, the next questions before anyone can offer suggestions are: Location and price range...

  7.
My wife's cousin is going to move in to our house in Pattaya (close to Wat Boonsamphan), and I wondered if there were anyone who can recommend a good school for her to attend. She is 14 years old and has one year left before high school.
Before anyone can make any recommendations, they will probably need to know if your wife's cousin is Thai or Farang, What your educational objectives are etc. There are a lot of schools in different price ranges with different suitabilities.

  8. I have heard that there is a "used" motorcycle auction in Pattaya about once a month. Anyone know anything about it? Are there some good reliable bikes to be found? What about transfer of ownership etc.?

    Thanks,

    Micheal

  9. I purchased a condo in Jomtien Beach Condos a year ago, July. I have been really pleased with the management and the area. It is a quiet (relatively) area, has two pools, two work out areas, lots of shops for restaurants, sports bar, massage, beauty salon, laundry, internet etc.

The management does an excellent job. Everything is always clean and well maintained and it is only about 5,200 baht a year. Utilities are reasonable. I pay about 2,000 baht a month for water and electricity and that is with a washing machine etc in my condo.

pm me if you have further interest. I have a friend who has a language school here and also manages property. she is honest and will take good care of you.

You could also rent before you buy so you could determine if you like the area. She could probably work out a rent/purchase agreement with you which would let your rent apply toward purchase if you decided to buy.

  10. Another cheap charlie farang being a burden on "Thai" public services!! :o

So some needy Thai person missed out on their (limited) opportunity at the dentist that day because of your vanity - Jeeez!, no wonder you feel so good about yourself!

Well I happen to work here and PAY TAXES.... So Kiss my cheap charlie ass....

  11. Can anyone post some good companies that pick up from bangkok airport and taxi to pattaya

Bell Travel on floor 1 of airport. Air conditioned bus to Pattaya Nua bus station, then transfer to mini bus for drop off at hotel. 200 Baht including mini bus.

    Hope that helps

What hours do they operate? I will be coming in at the end of March at 23:30...

  12. I am going back to the US for a month and want to buy a prepaid sim card. Anyone had any experience doing this? Is it best to buy it at the airport or before I go? Would prefer to have one available when I land in Seattle so I can call my family from there.

    Thanks,

    Micheal

  13. It is somewhere around Bang Saen. I have a friend that lives there and he took my girlfriend and I. Don't know exactly where it is, only that is is in Bang Saen. It is pretty cool. We want to go back because we didn't have our camera when we went before.

  14. You can get a very nice condo in Jomtien Beach Condos which is about a block from the beach, with 2 swimming pools, shops, ocean views and lots of fun in the area for about 10,000 baht a month. With cleaning and utilities no more than 15,000. You will have your own kitchen too.

Contact my friend Nitt at E-Mail address remove by Moderator. She usually knows of several condos available.

  15. My girlfriend and I went Saturday evening about 20:00 and I wasn't very impressed. The architecture is nice but that is the best I can say. Overall, Tesco is a much better experience and value.

We ate at the food court in the bottom level and it sucked. Most of the tables were full of dirty dishes. We had to move the dishes off of a table to another dirty table to have somewhere to sit. They don't have napkins or tissue anywhere. When you buy a card, they gave me one napkin. The card that is used in place of cash is only good for one day, so if you don't get a refund of whatever money is left on the card you loose. Each of us ended up ordering a bowl of soup as it was the most appealing (to us) option. BOTH tasted awful... watered down broth that was very tasteless. Tesco has much better and more variety of different foods...

Did not eat at any of the restaurants on the 4th or Th floor, but would definitely give the food court a pass.

Prices seemed excessively expensive. The grocery store has a good variety, but is pricey. I had bought yougurt at Tesco for 42 baht for a 4 pack. 52 baht at Central. A pair of sandals -granted they were Doctor Scholl- were 1,100 baht... 400 at Tesco for generic.

Real PS2 games for 1,100 baht - pirate copies at Tesco 150 baht... Name brand watches 6,300 baht, 1,300 to 1,600 at Tesco.

It seemed like going to a Mall back in the States with the same types of stores.. J. Crewe, North Face, Samsonite etc. with the equivalent prices.

  16. I just bought a pair of glasses at Beautiful Optical on jomtien beach road. Supposedly German Glass lenses and a tungstun frame. I paid 10,000 baht. They are supposed to be scratch coated, but I have only had them for a few days so I don't know if they are or not. I have not had good luck with plastic lenses. I bought a pair in the states and after a year, they seemed out of focus like the lenses had warped or something. My older glass lenses still were good for far distance but the reading portion needed to be updated. They still work better than the plastic lenses.

I got a vision test where they put on a set of "glasses" and substituted different lenses until you saw the best. All for 10,000 baht.
