As for the mask issue, a Danish professor in virology gave a pretty interesting interview yesterday, saying that if 100,000 Danes used Masks for a week it would prevent 1 case of covid 19, if using July as example. Atm the rate in August would be 50,000 to wear mask for a week to prevent 1 case. So not utterly useless but very ineffective.

There was large demonstration in Berlin on August 1st with a few hundred thousand demonstrators, all or most of them not wearing masks. Of course police and other officials did. Now three weeks later one would expect a large increase in infections but there was hardly a blip, it was in the same range as quoted above.

ok, I give an example for my country and I am sure it is reliable and comparable to other countries

Belgium middle of Europe, 11 mil people, death rate normally 9.2/1000, that is ruffly 100.000/year or 272 per day.  covid victims average per day around 250,  how many % is that ?

Are you sure? According to your explanation that would add up to 272 plus 250 or 522 total dead per day. There is absolutely no evidence for that. The problem is how the victims are being counted. Just because they have been tested or often only because they have been in contact with a COVID infected person, they are counted as a COVID death. There is hardly anybody dying of COVID, however people die with COVID because of underlying problems. How many corpses are being examined to truly find out why they died?

In any case the number of deaths has gone up a little in Belgium but not by 80% at all. https://www.euromomo.eu/index.html

The schools in Germany are still open and South Korea is not in lockdown. Both are widely predicted to be able to bounce back economy-wise than other countries.

The schools in Germany have been closed for weeks, however they are supposed to open after the easter holidays. There has yet to be an official word that it will happen.

Well, this means that lat year Q1 visitor were 8.54 + 15.67 = 24.21 millions. Implies that Thailand welcomed close to 99 million visitors last years. Another big lie somewhere, isn't?

In 2018 the international arrivals for 6 airports in Thailand were 81,145,917, so the number is off, but by no means big lie.

15.67 million tourists in the first three months including March, where many restrictions were in place? I do not think so. I can smell a spoiled fish when it is in the room. That would average out to around 60 million in 2020. Someone is lying, and someone is dreaming. Total arrivals this year many be 11-12 million. Real numbers.

The numbers are from CAAT, so they refer to arrivals and not necessarily tourists. They would even include transfers I think. It also means that there is no correlation to the nationality, just to the airport they boarded and many flights from NA go via China.

Dr Yinn says wearing a face mask is certainly not an iron-clad guarantee that you won’t get sick – viruses can also transmit through the eyes and tiny viral particles, known as aerosols, can penetrate masks. However, masks are effective at capturing droplets, which is a main transmission route of coronavirus, and some studies have estimated a roughly fivefold protection versus no barrier alone.

Why you think doctor and nurse in corona hospital wear the mask? Because they not handsome?

There is one more reason. People touch their faces many times per hour, wearing a mask helps reducing that habit.

Well walking along Jomtien beach today, a Thai guy sitting on the beach was vomiting. I didn't think nausea was a symptom of CV19, but reading about it just now, it is one of the main symptoms :sad::sad:. I can't say I've ever seen someone vomiting on the beach, so this is actually pretty alarming. To think there's no police presence to even monitor this kind of thing.

The reader might be asking, what am I doing taking a stroll down the beach. Shouldn't I be staying home? I had critical things to attend to, at immigration. Namely standing in a huge queue shoulder to shoulder, to get a 7 day extension.

Be careful what you wish for. The pandemic is already being used all over the world to limit democratic rights and is making the world more autocratic.

Remember, if you never get tested, you'll never get Covid-19. People who call their local Thai public hospital when they suspect they have it aren't told to come in for a test. They are to stay away, stay at home, wait and see if things get worse, and good luck.

So Thailand does not have many cases of Covid-19, just a lot of people who have it.

That may be a good thing indeed. Hospitals - not only in Thailand - are known to be some of the best places for respiratory disease transmission.

  9. After a 4 year hiatus, I am about to apply for a Visa for a long stay in Thailand. I have a wife and kids in Thailand but most of us were all outside for the 4 years. The wife and kids of course have Thai passports, so no problem there. I intend to apply for a non immigrant O, which is only good for one entry. However I do have to leave after about a month and likely also two months for about a week each time before coming back.

Is it possible to add multiple entries at immigration Thailand?

  10. Interesting when some districts had to close their polling stations. The ban was still enforced. I think if can't vote then can drink.

The ban is enforced after polls closing because in the past alcohol was used in connection with vote buying. They would round up a bunch of people and then take them out to get pissed after they voted. So they extend the ban until after the polls close.

It's ridiculous and does nothing to prevent vote buying, but that's why they do it.

used to be the same in Canada years ago for the same reasons, eventually they woke up and noticed it doesn't make a difference.
