People may use this free wifi to access Facebook, which would lead to more pregnant teenagers and taxi drivers.
The mind boggles, it really does.

UK resident/UK passport ... When visiting Thailand later this year, I am heading to Malaysia for a few days mid-trip, flying BKK-KUL-BKK. Total length of my trip is less than 30 days UK to UK. Am I OK just using the 30-day waiver/permission to stay to enter Thailand twice within a 10 days or so, or would that need the expense of a multi-entry visa? TIA.

Thanks for posting the .pdf files.
So, what's the betting? Another 9-12 months? Or will they try and move people in to Buildings A & B and expect them to live on a building site?

Pierre Cardin shirts out of the ark
Catering to the Russian market indeed!

I was driving past on Soi 17 yesterday, and the large billboard advertising Suan Sawarn has now got a bright yellow sash poster across it saying something like "Supported By Kasikorn Bank". Was that always the case, or have they secured a new line of finance which will allow them to finish the project? They are making progress, anyway.
My understanding is that they have had bank financing for around 9 months, possibly a little longer.

What a dump ! ( same with the Park ) .
It's a building site. What else would you expect?

Craig, Steven - thanks for the updates, please keep them coming.
When I visited in December (having left my camera 6,000 miles away so these are from my phone), Building A was more or less complete and fitting out:
Building B was approaching completion:
Building C looked to be midway through construction:
while Buildings D & E were in the very early stages:
At that time they were talking of Phase 1 being ready for occupation in 6 months (June 2010). I didn't believe that at the time and I still can't see it happening.
All the above of course are in Phase 1. Phase 2 is still no more than a hole in the ground:
Even though I was told Phase 2 (only 3 buildings in this phase) would be ready in 12 months.
i hope Jordi pay 1000 B per day. Will be interesting to see if/how/when this happens. Since the completion payments from Phase 1 will [hopefully] be utilised to fund the building of Phase 2, I hope there are not too many who default or try to wriggle out because of the slump in the £/$. I won't be holding my breath for any penalty payments.

I had no trouble changing THB into Euros at one of the desks airside last December. Sorry, don't remember which, but it is possible.I had turned right after going through International Departures, the bank was just past the first set of shops , on the left.

but -maybe- if you get out of transit area, you will have to pay the airport tax (700 baht)again when you check in to your flight.
I thought that the airport tax was included in just about every airline's outward ticket price nowadays? Whether you are in transit or not should make no difference.

I left a bag there for a week at the end of last year. Hassle free.

Thanks for all the responses.
There will only be 2 of us travelling, so minibus sounds like overkill.
Still not sure how we will travel, but thanks for the offers, contacts, and the idea of checking the 'menu' hanging off the front seats - will do that on way into town from the airport.

Hi folks,
Looking at taking a day trip to Kanchanaburi from Bangkok when we are there in a couple of weeks.
I know you can take a bus, or minibus, but another option being touted on some websites is a taxi each way at around 1,000THB each way. (Not sure how up to date those prices are.)
My question really is ... is it worth hiring a taxi for the day to visit Kanchanaburi, and if so what is a ballpark cost to aim for when 'negotiating' the price? Is it worth having a taxi to see around Kanchanaburi town itself, or is it better to go with local tuk-tuk or songthaews for getting around? (Thinking here about Jeath Museum, War Cemetries, Bridge itself, somewhere to eat, maybe shop ...)
Happy to travel from BKK to Kan on the bus if that is the opinion of those in the know, but looking at options too.
Advice welcomed.

what is missing is some statement about the date the data was compiled
I think it's an ongoing thing - that page has been around for a couple of years at least and is updated fairly regularly. And as it says bottom left of the page "This page was last modified 00:40, 3 March 2009."

Looks like we were lucky:
Very lucky indeed by the reports coming out of Myanmar now:

Yes, follow the signs for 'Premium Lane', which is located after the first entrance to immigration.
