  1. Thanks for posting the .pdf files.

So, what's the betting? Another 9-12 months? Or will they try and move people in to Buildings A & B and expect them to live on a building site?

  2. I was driving past on Soi 17 yesterday, and the large billboard advertising Suan Sawarn has now got a bright yellow sash poster across it saying something like "Supported By Kasikorn Bank". Was that always the case, or have they secured a new line of finance which will allow them to finish the project? They are making progress, anyway.

My understanding is that they have had bank financing for around 9 months, possibly a little longer.

  3. Craig, Steven - thanks for the updates, please keep them coming.

When I visited in December (having left my camera 6,000 miles away so these are from my phone), Building A was more or less complete and fitting out:

    Building B was approaching completion:

Building C looked to be midway through construction:

while Buildings D & E were in the very early stages:

At that time they were talking of Phase 1 being ready for occupation in 6 months (June 2010). I didn't believe that at the time and I still can't see it happening.

All the above of course are in Phase 1. Phase 2 is still no more than a hole in the ground:

Even though I was told Phase 2 (only 3 buildings in this phase) would be ready in 12 months. :)

i hope Jordi pay 1000 B per day.

Will be interesting to see if/how/when this happens. Since the completion payments from Phase 1 will [hopefully] be utilised to fund the building of Phase 2, I hope there are not too many who default or try to wriggle out because of the slump in the £/$. I won't be holding my breath for any penalty payments.

  4. Hi folks,

Looking at taking a day trip to Kanchanaburi from Bangkok when we are there in a couple of weeks.

I know you can take a bus, or minibus, but another option being touted on some websites is a taxi each way at around 1,000THB each way. (Not sure how up to date those prices are.)

My question really is ... is it worth hiring a taxi for the day to visit Kanchanaburi, and if so what is a ballpark cost to aim for when 'negotiating' the price? Is it worth having a taxi to see around Kanchanaburi town itself, or is it better to go with local tuk-tuk or songthaews for getting around? (Thinking here about Jeath Museum, War Cemetries, Bridge itself, somewhere to eat, maybe shop ...)

Happy to travel from BKK to Kan on the bus if that is the opinion of those in the know, but looking at options too.

    Advice welcomed. :)

  5. what is missing is some statement about the date the data was compiled

I think it's an ongoing thing - that page has been around for a couple of years at least and is updated fairly regularly. And as it says bottom left of the page "This page was last modified 00:40, 3 March 2009."
