My 90 days are due and so is my extension of my non-O.
All paperwork ready to go but, I have Covid, my wife too.
If I follow the rules of self isolation my non-O will be expired,
Immigration says no problem…500Baht per day,
Should I NOT follow the rules of self isolation?

That newish highway is kind of Wild West.
Some are driving against the flow because of a lack of logical exits (or because they can?)
Hilly terrain so you have to be careful going uphill because your ‘slow’ lane is the fast lane for these crazy drivers.

Yep, one year Bank statement suddenly required at our Immigration Office.
The previous 11 years or so just Bank letter confirming the balance was sufficient but
not any longer. So you gather all your papers, copies, drawing, photos (sometimes 1 sometimes 2) you visit the bank for that letter only to be sent back to the bank that needs 7 days to come up with that 12 months statement. This is 2021 right?
They move the goal post without you knowing it, getting annoyed by it but it is what is is unfortunately.
But, this alien (that is not to be trusted) has a new shiny stamp in his passport saying he is allowed to stay another year; Hurray!
Now all I have to do is relax and wait for that phone call that they are coming to visit us.Check, check and double check. Pfffff......

Don't know about Hat Yai but can't confirm this about Mukdahan at all. Mukdahan sometimes was a bit difficult to deal with in the old days (before they moved to the new office near the bridge), but that all changed after the new office was opened more than a decade ago.
I have been dealing with the Mukdahan office for more than 15 years and never had a reason to complain or even the smallest issue. Everything went and is going fine and smoothly there and the IOs have always been friendly and helpful in any way.
Also the office is not a very busy one. So most of the time there is almost no waiting time. 90 days reports are usually done within 5 minutes, one year extensions (Non Imm O, retired) usually don't take more than 20 minutes.
I am very happy with the Mukdahan office.
Must be me then... I have found the female staff dufficult (and a bit hostile) to deal with, maybe they did not like my face... Funny though, as soon as my bank details are checked they became much friendlier. Maybe I'm not the bum they initially thought I was. Always dress nice, always greet them but no, I can't say I like the female staff that much. In the olden days Mukdahan was a breeze when (now the Boss) handled my stuff. Friendly, funny & fast.

OK, it happens every year and I should be used to it
but I’m not. It upsets me, it annoys me and I still
don’t understand why all this <deleted> is needed.
I’m talking about the visit from Immigration. To check on this evil Alien, a parole board visit.
We have to get a witness (again) that testifies that
this white-faced Alien lives here.
Absurd.
And absurd too that they had to get the directions
to our house from my wife, by telephone.
They have our drawn map, they have 12 freaking drawn
maps.
I’m annoyed...

did my non-o extension yesterday and the usual bank balance statement was rejected, needed a bank statement that showed the last 2 months of transactions. I had copied all the pages of the bankbook and they were taken (had to sign all of them) but was no proof that I didn't dip below 800K. Back to the bank and after that everything was ok.
There are two new forms to sign this time stating the criteria for an extension and one stating the penalties for overstay.
Explaining everything to my wife the I/O took her mask off because it muffled her voice she said. Luckily there was a glass panel between the I/O and my wife (who had her mask on). For me it was another frustrating day, heaps of copies, Bank, Immigration, Bank, Immigration, 23 signatures and raised blood pressure.
You would think it would get better over time (11 years now) but its not...

FIY The wife just called Immigration Mukdahan and they confirmed that my original non-o from 10 years ago and the extensions based on that are not subjected to the mandatory health insurance.
We have recorded that conversation just in case.
Now I’m going to finalize the paperwork for an insurance on my own terms because after all insurance is a good thing.

Different than planned my wife had to go to Mukdahan this morning and decided to do my 90 days reporting (like she had done in the past). Denied... 90 days reporting need to be done in person.
When my wife said that she had done my 90 reporting 5 or 6 times before the IO said that the law had changed...

in my office they never mentioned come back in 3 months or gave me a letter asking me to do that either maybe because they know me over the 15 years iv been here and that I have 2 million in my bank book might also help
I use this account only for my visa and haven't touched the money for 10 years. They (IO's) know me and my wife and the account shows some 1.3M THB...

Have they told you will need to do it every 3 months.?
At other offices that want one it is is a one time thing at the 3 months to confirm the 800k baht is still in the bank.
No, they did not but I find the IO's at Mukdahan extremely difficult to deal with and would not be surprised if it would be a 'requirement' in three months time...

Well, I have my 90 days and proof of 800K coming up with different dates of course.
The wife called the IO Office in Mukdahan to ask if we could do them both this Friday.
No problem, just bring a copy of the updated bank book AND a letter from the bank
confirming the amount... Guess I need that bank letter every 3 months.

The two IO’s just left and it was all a bit underwhelming.
It was, like last year, a check to see if I actually live at the address I had given them. And that the woman who reported me with the TM30 (the wife) was actually present as well; we needed to get a witness.
She-who-knows-all grabbed the first available guy in our village to testify that the ugly bastard on the renewal application was indeed me and had to tell them how long I’m living here.
And if he could identify the photo on the copied ID-card of my wife. And I sat there while they were filling out another form.
I expressed my displeasure regarding the new rules and I got the reply ‘we don’t make the rules’.
And that this visit will be a yearly thing because there are ‘bad farangs’ in this region...
They were friendly and polite but to me it was a waste of their and our time.
But on the positive side of things: no strip search, no interrogation, no detention and no waterboarding.

If my wife let me I’ll aks what happens if I touch my own money.
They are not here yet, they told the wife that they are checking on another farang right now. I’ll tell the songkran-kids to look out for a police car and douse them!

Just a quick update. Just received a call from Immigration; they are on their way to ‘visit’ me. Second check... I’ll update you all once they are gone...

Must be a different Immigration office in Mukdahan than the one I am using frequently. I never found it difficult to deal with any of the officers including the new ones. I have always been treated in a friendly, respectful and absolutely correct way.
Good for you but unfortunately my experience differs.
A couple of years ago (male staff) it was pleasant, jokes were
made and it was a breeze. In and out in minutes (90 days) and a little longer with the extension.

Regarding “drawing” the map to your house from Immigration it would be easier for you if you just printed it off of Google maps then you won’t have to worry about them not accepting it.
Tried that (Google Maps) and that was rejected years ago. Haven’t tried it again...

For a simple retirement extension I have never heard of the IO needing to visit your home. It sounds to me like you have a marriage extension, but marriage extensions only need 400000 baht in the bank and you can spend the money right away. Are you having some kind of exercise in delusion? I can understand wanting vent about IO absurdities. But do it with some semblance of accuracy. Either that or Mukdahan IO is doing some kind of rogue applications.
You might have never heard of the IO visiting your home but last year they did. Passport check and all...
I’m NOT having a marriage extension, retirement it is.
And excercise in delusion? Thanks.
Do it with some accuracy? Thanks again.
