  1. Some stunning pictures as always VF but as this has evolved into a thread about photography, rather than Chiang Rai, perhaps you should have it moved to the photography forum where I imagine it will be appreciated more and you'll be sure to get more advice too.

    Just a thought!

  2. I noticed this new beer while at Tops the other day but, as it was after 2pm, I couldn't buy any to try out. It said it is made in Vietnam, sold exclusively by Tops and a donation is made to a Thai orphanage for every can sold.

Anyone tried it yet? Comparable to...?

  3. I flew to Thailand with Qatar Airways and a free stopover in Doha was allowed en-route. When I checked BKK-Europe fares again yesterday the fare increased by 10,000baht if wanting a stopover while Etihad's price remained the same. Do Qatar no longer allow a free stopover? I'd like to fly Qatar again as very happy with them but will go with Etihad and a stopver in Abu Dhabi if they are 10,000baht cheaper!

  4. Goes on sale in thailand on october 4th.

is that official? in every store or just imports in MBK?

It will be at the B.M.E. on the 4th goes on sale every where in Thailand on october 8th the price will be 22900 thai baht, Its not imported its made in Korea for Thailand. And there will be promotions from ais dtac and true.

Tempting, very tempting! My wife was about to upgrade to the S3 but for another 1000baht this is probably a better option. Wonder if we'll get a discount if we buy two? Probably not.

  5. Yes poanoi, I am with you.

But dagling "saved" about 80.000 Baht and he told us, that the police take 200,- Baht and a smile.

For 80.000 Baht they must stop him 400 times.

Or is it possible, that they took one day the whole bike and dagling has to buy a new one with a Green Book?

Or just one accident (I don't wish it to happen) and then he'll be paying X times more than 80,000Baht due to lack of insurance. And i still don't buy insurance companies selling coverage on bikes without greenbooks, even if they did they would never payout..

But back to the bike, i think it looks great and take extra care when riding until it's fully legal, not that i expect you to ride like and psycho once legal or anything biggrin.png

They are more likely to pay out on an insured but unregistered bike than a registered bike with insurance but ridden by someone without a Thai license! Surprising how many people I meet that ride/drive without a Thai license but that isn't frowned upon anywhere near as much as an unregistered bike. Hypocritical if you ask me!

  6. I chose Chiang Rai after visiting on the way back from a trip to Mae Sai. I'd been living in Chiang Mai until then but a few days in Chiang Rai soon tempted me away. Quite ironic really as I'd passed through a few years earlier while backpacking around Asia and didn't think much of it at the time.

  7. Four door Isuzu D-Max are still under 900,000, call into Isuzu on the Super Highway just north of the airport turn off for a look. They have an SUV model which is a bit more.

Their service is excellent, have a look at the service area out the back before you decide to buy.

I bought the new mazda BT50 Pro and its the best vehicle I have ever bought. I change my vehicles every two years(get a good trade in price) and this one might stay with me a bit longer. I can rave on about it but all I can say its the best. You only have to look on the road now as they are everywhere and Sintanee say they have many orders outstanding.

The motoring folk at Bangkok Post agree with you as it was number 1 in a recent test, I have the Ranger which is built in the same factory and very happy with it.

  8. Get some Pirelli Scorpion Trail on your Versys, much better than stock and ideal for exploring the mountain roads which are often pretty poor.

Cheers skybluestu, will do as soon as I can find someone to fit them locally and source them of course, any recommendations on vendors?

    Cheers PP

Google 'pirelli.in.th' and it takes you to the main Pirelli dealer, always had great service from Charlie there and she speaks great English so no language problems. If there is a Cockpit or similar in Phetchabun then they could probably do it.

  9. i would like to know if its restricted ? If yes can it be opened up....

I saw the Z1000 advertised on facebook recently by one of the bike importers and they were asking 690,000 but they said it was the USA unrestricted version and not the restricted Japanese version that Kawasaki sell here. Not sure it's worth another 100k!

  10. Ford and Mazda should be at the top of the list. They are nearly mechanically identical. They both have a 5-star safety rating.

Yeah errrm the built for Thailand Ranger/BT-50 is not 5 star NCAP, body and chassis is made from a lower grade steel than the built for AUS/Euro Ranger/BT-50.

The reason it isn't 5* is because the Thai Ranger has less airbags, nothing to do with lower quality steel.

  11. Why does Thai call a black man Farang?

    He is not even white.

Farang comes from the word France.

Black people are usually called Farang dum. Farang doesn't come from the word France.

arabic "feranji" was originally meant for "franks" (not necessarily French but central Europeans), derived from arabic is the identical Farsi, Urdu and Hindi expression "ferangi" which means "foreigner" (used for caucasians only).

and puleeze... don't come up with wiki or similar websites and there uneducated fairy tales.

Like I said, it doesn't come from the word France.
