  1. Hi...I was hoping somebody here could help clarify something for me.

My wife is here with me in UK, she has just recieved her UK passport, so she now has dual passports.

We are booked to fly to Thailand on 18th January 2016, so she will leave UK on UK passport and enter Thailand on Thai passport.

The only thing is, her Thai passport expires on 24th January (6 days after we arrive). Now I know this would be an issue if entering on a foreign passport as they have to have a minimum of 6 months life on them, but as she is Thai, entering Thailand on a Thai passport then am I right to assume this will be fine?? Could somebody please confirm this.

We plan to renew her Thai passport whilst we're in Thailand.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Another question...this time about the 40,000 a month route.

If you physically paid in 40k of your own cash, say on the 1st of the month, to your account, withdrew it over the course of the month, then 'repaid' that 40k into your bank on the 1st of the following month and continued the process for the necessary period of time...would that be suffice to qualify as regular proof of income?

  3. You're required to show 400,000bt in a Thai bank account (marriage visa), I read somewhere (I'll link it if I can find it) that the 400,000 has to have come from an overseas bank and proof of transfer is required. Can anyone confirm this please.

    EDITED to add link

    http://www.siam-legal.com/thailand-visa/Thailand-Marriage-Visa.php

It also states in this link that a combination of savings and income can be used to reach the magic 400k (I accept this linked website info may be out of date and need changing).

  4. I won't be going back! Ordered a take away a few days ago, waited 45 minutes in the restaurant. Bloke comes over to say sorry but we're short staffed! I counted 9 staff and only 5 full tables! Then after waiting all that time the guy comes over to tell me they have run out of dough! This was at 9pm! Shame really because from what I saw, the food actually looked quite decent.

That is disappointing Noi, my wife did comment to me on the (large) number of staff, yet slack service on our visit i.e waiter would look anywhere but at us when we were ready to order / had to ask for drinks to be refilled.

It didn't bother me too much as we just popped in for a lunch time bite as we were passing, but it does seem like the service is something they need to get on top of because, like you say, the pizzas are very good.

  5. Just to update...we called our Amphur today to make the 'appointment' that we were told we needed... 'just come in this afternoon' was the answer given to the Mrs.

Got there just before 1pm, armed with all the necessary bits and pieces + photocopies...this saved us some time...in, out and daughter on the Tabien Baan in about an hour...Happy days :D

  6. I'm pretty sure you'll be fine with what you have. Many peoples payslips are no more than an online 'print off' done by the company anyway.

In my last job, (small firm) the payslips we very '. Ordinary' looking...something that could easily be copied using microsoft word if I had wanted to!!

And even now in my current job, (massive company) the print out payslip I receive from my employee is just a print off of the version available for me to view online.

As long as all the figures match up (you said they do) with you bank statements etc, along with the letter from your company, then I wouldn't be too concerned tbh.

Coming to think of it, a couple of the payslips in my application were online prints that I had done at home (due to having mislaid the 'originals')...couldn't tell the difference!

  7. You may as well get the TB and the PP this trip. Being on the TB is really the 'keys to the kingdom' here in Thailand.

Re: getting the babe on the TB

Went to our Amphur yesterday, it wasn't quite as straight forward as we had hoped....we need 4 identical photos of the babe, fair enough, another witness, as well as my father in law who was with us yesterday, and an appointment, as the process, we were told would take 2 hours...seems a little long winded to me but I'll report back, maybe next week now, when we're done.

  8. Thanks Samran, that makes sense...I have just noticed that if we had applied for the passport at the same time as we did the birth certificate, then the documentation required is in fact different i.e. No tabien baan needed.

We're in no hurry to get the Thai passport, but we'd like to get everything else in order on this visit...as for a I.D. Card...from what age do they issue these?? We may as well get that today too if baby's are applicable.

  9. Thanks 7by7, I was kinda hoping you'd reply to this, and what you said about entering on a British passport = being considered alien/non Thai, (despite having a Thai birth cert) has probably swung it for us.

I now think it is worth getting the Thai passport while we're here. It is much easier for us to get it while we're here, rather than in the UK, I just couldn't think of any benefit to her for having it now...but your reply has shed some light on that, Thank You.

The other bit, once she does in fact have both passports, I was familiar with, but thanks anyway.

  10. Hi, My daughter was born in the UK in March, I am British, my wife Thai ( with ilr). We have obtained a British passport for our little one and are actually all in Thailand at the mo (4 week holiday to visit family).

While in the UK we also obtained our daughters Thai birth certificate, so she now has both Thai and UK birth certificates.

My question is...is there really any point in us getting our daughter her Thai passport at this moment in time??

We don't see ourselves spending any longer than 4 weeks at a time in Thailand (holidays) for the forseeable, so visas won't come into play.

I can't see a reason why we might want to get it now, like I said, she has the Thai birth certificate, which is the main thing, so she's able to apply for a passpost at anytime in her life now...right?? ...Am I missing anything??

    Thanks in advance.
